  1. The auction for the black Tele just closed. Winning bid was 15,000 pounds (about 24,000 USD)!
  2. "Probably the cheaper one, if its around $1500-2000" I'd say there's a slight chance that one of the two spares may go that low, but you're probably right. In fairness though JB is really only known to the fans of the band, and as such I wouldn't expect any of them for go for the kind of money truly "huge" guitars go for at auction. For example, Edge's 1975 Les Paul Custom sold for $83,000 a few years ago, and there's no way these can go anywhere near that high IMHO...
  3. "Really, I saw they're selling almost all their guitars and got scared " In fairness, a lot of the guitars for sale are either old and not used live anymore or spares which can easily be replaced by the time the boys set out for live touring again. Selling such important gear reminds me of when The Edge sold his Les Paul for Music Rising. When asked he said that since the cause was important to him he wanted to donate something he would actually miss, and it seems to me that's what the boys are doing here. Kudos to them! Deprived kids need the money more than the band needs those guitars, and it really is a lovely gesture to put in such top quality stuff IMHO.
  4. Looking at it again, I actually think the black one is first in the top pic, but is obscured by the jacket or whatever hanging on the front of the rack. On a slightly ot note, he's selling 4 of them (including the black one) in the Kids' company auction!
  5. Actually I don't see the black one in those photos, so he might have 8 thinlines (which would make sense, as he uses 4 tuned ones, so he could well have a dedicated back up for each one.)
  6. I found this pics online of all the guitars Jon had in his roadcase for the VLV tour. It answers more than a few questions we've had on here concerning just what he takes on the road.
  7. Not to state the obvious, but it's going to "sound shit" with just the tuning and no and/or wrong effects. He uses a micro POG to get the sound for the middle section, and it's very tricky to get that type of sound without some type of octive generating effect. I suspect this may be a large part of your quest to get the right tone.
  8. "I assume that's what Jonny did. Looks like he's using that one for the scientist?" I would assume it's a respray as well, it just looks like some kind of weird mettalic red, as opposed to the more common red finishes people usually use on fenders (hotrod, fiesta, candy apple, and candy cola)...
  9. "mid 70's thinline! Wow! you have pictures?" I'm between digi cams at the moment, so no... However, they usually add the vintage guitars they sell to the recently sold tab on their website (they asked my permission for this), so I will scan through those and see if they posted the one I bought.
  10. anybody got a decent pic of jon's sunburst jazzmaster from after he swapped out the stock pickguard for the white one with the red swirl?
  11. "what song was he playing then" I've found clips of him playing this guitar for the scientist at the wembley 9/19 gig, though he may have also used it for other songs as well. "That sounds cool, what guitar did you get?" My first "vintage" guitar, a mid 70's thinline tele:D
  12. "and it wouldn't trouble the previous LiTii because you can play it in drop d" He actually changes guitars between them, so it wouldn't matter anyway. Thanks for the confirmation, as I couldn't tell really d tuning or if he just had loads of effects on it to make it sound that way.
  13. I thought it might be reflections too, but I did a youtube search for that gig and the guitar itself looks red. On an off topic note, I've actually bought a guitar from the shop Stephan took the photo from, as it's near where I live. Strange of all the places you could've found a photo from it was from there!
  14. Just curious, as I've found some tabs that say he does, and some that say he plays it standard. In some live clips it sounds like it could be, but I have trouble picking up tunings around the rest of the band and his effects.
  15. "fakfak just curious why do you always quote people like that instead of using the quote feature?" It's just what I'm used to from another forum I post in where that is the board ettiquette(sp) for quoting someone. I post so much there, I tend to do it that way everywhere else.
  16. "Try opening the curtains." ???
  17. "But like I said, they probably won't televise these categories" I think you're right about the video catagory, but according to past grammy results I've found online the rock performance one is usually part of the live broadcast. (at least in previous years)
  18. I was looking through the wembley photos and found one of Jon playing a red thinline tele: I've never seen this one used by him in any other clip/photo. I was just wondering if anyone else had seen it as it is a a strange color of red, and I think it's cool looking...
  19. "Or was that info out there even before then? Am I just that oblivious?" Don't know when it was first put out there, but their entry on the just giving site clearly alludes to an upcoming (soon) wedding date.
  20. "Cute and for a good charity cause " I went to the website and found their actual entry, from the wording it sounds as if the wedding is coming up soon.
  21. "Cute picture. Where is it from? Is it a Twitter one? It doesn't like like one of her usual ones. She doesn't usually show jonny or violet's full face." I first found it on a gossip blog, but it seems to have orginated from a post on Just Giving, a site for people to donate money to charity in the name of causes/events. Appearently(sp?), they're asking their wedding guests to donate to Shelter UK in instead of gifts.
  22. This pic has been floating around various places on the internet lately: I think the whole "tongue sticking out" bit is pretty funny myself...
  23. "They are nice guys, that's true. But everytime Chris was asked questions regarding the plagiarism suit, he would say that sometimes there are things that they will just not admit of doing and say no to simply because it's not true." True, but given the lads (especially Chris') personalities, I really think a drawn out court battle would take a heavy toll on them (and the band). I really think a quiet and quick resolution to this is the best possible outcome.
  24. One of the most common conditions of an out of court setllement (assuming there was one in this case.) is that all involved parties are prevented from disclosing the details, so I doubt ther will ever be an official statement from anyone involved as to what happened behind closed doors.
  25. "Most likely they would have lost - as it is impossible to prove that the didn't copy the song as the song was here before viva." The legal burden of proof in such cases is on the accuser (Satriani). Personally, I think Coldplay had a decent chance to win, but the process would likely have been long and ugly, and taken an emotional toll on the boys. Personally, I'm glad this whole thing appears to be over, hopefully the band can now go forward with a weight lifted from them and Satriani can get back to his 39 minute tapping solos or whatever it is he's up to these days...
