  1. "Reverb is probably produced by his rack gear." The heavy reverb is certainly produced by the Eventide Processor in the rack, The boss Reverb pedal is only used for old songs.
  2. I was just wondering if anyone had compiled some sort of list, chart etc. for the songs played in non standard tuning live (specifically Jonny's electric parts). I've tried to keep up with it, but there are so many now, it's getting a bit overwhelming! Coupled with the fact that he doesn't always seem to use the same live tunings for some songs, and swaps thinlines even among standard tuned songs, I'm not sure about a lot of the newer songs...
  3. It's also in a funny tuning, which further complicates tabbing by ear...:\
  4. "though it wouldn't matter to buy a newer one, concerning the sounds... it's nothing special..." Back at the start of the tour, it was mentioned that Will picked this up last minute in L.A., so I doubt it's anything more than a stock model, you should be fine with it "out of the box" sound wise.
  5. "Rocking it out. I think I saw Chloe on the side of the stage but I'm not sure" I don't think she was there, as she posted a twitpic from NYC yesterday afternoon.
  6. "Some of the pics have been posted already" I thought they might be. Still, some of those photos are pretty interesting. Judging by her comments, she seems like a really sweet and interesting person.
  7. This may be common knowledge, so if it is, don't flame me, but Jonny's GF Chloe has a twitter account with all sorts of personal photos of the tour, Jon and Violet etc. Thought perhaps it might be interesting to some... http://twitter.com/ChloeLeeEvans
  8. To the best of my knowledge, there is only one L series model in production at this time.
  9. "Tell us the results fakfak" I don't have access to a phase 90, so I can't test it...:(
  10. I've been looking around for info, and I found this on a guitar site: "I got a reasonably convincing (and much quieter, warmer sound) Leslie effect by turning my MXR Phase 90 up all the way, then backing it off about 3/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Turn on some mild overdrive AFTER the Phase 90, and you'll get that sweet "breathy" doppler sound" I've not tried that myself, but assuming it works, it's good odds Jon does something similar as he does have all the mentioned gear in his setup (it's also worth noting that they've stopped playing the songs he used to use the Phase 90 for, and he added the relatively mild distortion of the Tube Screamer for this tour.)
  11. "I wonder how well an ebow + effects would work for the sound? Anyone willing to try? (I haven't had a chance to buy one yet, as I don't have an electric)" I've been practicing with a friend's E-bow for a while, and While I'm not very skilled with it, from my experience it would be very hard to modulate the sound with it at the tempo of LiJ. Will try it out as soon as I can...
  12. "It would have to be incorporated into his rack gear, since the simulation is not a MIDI." I misspoke. I meant to say that there could be some kind of pedal/fx setup on the MIDI keyboard as opposed to coming from it itself. Many guitar effects can be rigged through keyboard setups (Notably Edge uses a guitar delay pedal to add delay to his keyboard parts.)
  13. "There is a new very very accurate leslie simulator on the market. Perhaps he used it?" For recording perhaps...(though he can certainly afford a vintage Leslie cabinet, so my guess would be he used the real thing.) However, as we have a full list of both his pedals and rack gear, if he's using some kind of simulator, it's either tied into his MIDI keyboard, or incorporated into the backing track.
  14. For the current live show, Jon uses: 4 thinline Tele's (sunburst, natural, black, walnut) Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Fender Jazzmaster 2 Gibson J-200 Acoustics
  15. "I dont know why, he could get away with three. The sound between Thinlines and Delux Tele's is minimal" Well, if you're strictly speaking in terms of type of guitar, he only plays 4 kinds during gigs on this tour. The numbers inflate because he has 3 set up for altered tunings, and uses a seperate acoustic for the "C" stage bit, as it's going into a seperate dedicated D/I feed to FOH.
  16. "I can hear the leslie on the piano now too. Can that drone be that of the leslie? Because when the lyrics kick in I can now hear clear arpeggios of the chords. I have known for some time there are 3 layers of Jon's guitar on this and 2 pianos as well...." I believe the droning sound is indeed a leslie. All I know for sure though as it's not something Jon is producing through his rig, because no gear in his live setup (at least for guitar) can be used a leslie Simulator. If I didn't know better. I'd swear he had a rotosphere in his pedal setup.
  17. "A Leslie is essentially a rotating speaker, listen to Hotel California to get what I mean." Actually, the leslie effect is on the keyboard/synth part as opposed to the guitar part. It is the most prominent effect in large portions of the song though.
  18. When I saw them in Chicago last year, he played eight guitars over the course of the gig, and I read in an interview that he takes 11 on the road for the current tour.
  19. thread's been dead for ages, but I've got proof there's five Teles now... In the photoblog from Roskilde(sp?), you can see an unpainted sunburst Tele in their dressing room, and his stage use sunburst one has been painted since the start of the European tour last year.
  20. "is Chris using a Gibson SJ-200 in 05/06 ?!" Yes. Jonny (and sometimes Will) started playing these at the same time as well, and they both still do.
  21. "What does your username mean or stand for??" It's a variation on my family name.
  22. Even if your guitar is not stolen/lost, humidity is the biggest enemy of an acoustic guitar. Personally, I wouldn't expose an acoustic to any kinnd of outdoor conditions for a prolonged length of time.
  23. "Sorry for the confusion." My fault...:\
  24. This guitar IS 2nd from front in the photo with all of them. You can clearly see the black writing across the bottom.
  25. "Now there's one that's purple and redish with white areas. Used for many songs." Isn't that one the 2nd from the front?
