I imagine the artwork is going to look like Chris' piano. All album and single releases have had a theme since AROBTTH think of the AROBTTH album artwork and how similar the single artworks were. same for X&Y - same Baudot code theme. viva - the old art workings with paint splashed on the front of the singles. then look at ETiAW - I imagine the artwork not being too dissimilar in terms of the vibrance and also the font.

ETiAW was always going to be on the record the way it was promoted by the band. If Major Minus is on the record, I'll be surprised given that it was for all intents and purposes, released as a B-side on an Extra Play for Every teardrop. Same for Moving to Mars. I can imagine HLH and CB being on the album, and people have a right to be pissed about it, but in all fairness, recordings can be so different from live performances so it's not going to ruin that aspect when you first listen to LP5.

the funny thing about portishead is that they're actually wildly mediocre and totally overrated in every sense. do you remember that song they did? you know the one... .. it was like, it goes like '...' oh wait, everything they do is fucking awful.

I think we're being unrealistic about much else new. They are a band who has played all over europe and whom's wider based crowd doesn't watch every stream of every concert, so the new songs to a lot of the people at the gigs, are still new.

Have you updated iTunes to the latest version? it needs to be the latest version.

We are definitely getting an unheard new song tonight. Even the guy on XFM just said that the setlist is under lock and key. It wouldn't make any sense to do that with them having already played new songs at all Major festivals this summer. Add that to the fact that they sound checked with a brand new song. I doubt we'll hear that if it's only just been finished yesterday but at the very least I think we'll hear a song that they've cut off the new record. That pleases everybody, fans wanting a new new song, and those who don't want to hear a song off the album as to not ruin the surprise.

For me, this song is wildly mediocre compared to ETiAW and Major Minus. Teardrop is something vastly different to what they have created previously and that's exciting. The guitar parts on Major remind me of GPASUYF and a few other B-sides from the AROBTTH era but this? it almost reminds me of the B-Side 'For you' only not as nicely executed. I do kind of like chris' low vocals because it's not often he goes that low and you can hear every note vibrating throughout but as a whole, it's not the greatest, and that's probably why it's a B-Side.

I know somebody who just posted on FB that they have won tickets to see the manic street preachers today via email. Is there still no news on a winner for the Coldplay show? I'll be surprised if more than a handful of people here win because the tickets for the Coldplay show are being whored out everywhere. Newspapers like the Metro are giving away tickets and iTunes and the App store are advertising it like there's no tomorrow.

Cemeteries of London, Violet Hill, Death and all His Friends, Yes, Strawberry Swing. Jonny's guitar was ALL OVER viva.

why would Coldplay be following in the artic monkeys footsteps? Shiver was a TREMENDOUS first single, In My Place was a great choice, Speed of Sound grew on my and I love it now, and Violet Hill is one of my favourite songs overall. I love ETiaW and you guys are saying that this song (of which you've heard about 45 seconds) is better? I'll reserve my judgement until I hear it tomorrow at Rock am Arena, but I doubt they'd purposely release a weak song.

also, this whole 'mexico' thing couldn't be far off. look at the drawing of the eye that we've seen a few times now (and on the piano) - it has a very aztec/mexican feel about it

Though MX does sound coldplayish after X&Y - at least X&Y actually means something! y'know? this whole MX thing has me baffled and intrigued.

maybe the album is simply called 'MX' I mean it's painted all over the piano there. if it was just an abbreviation then why wouldn't they put what it stands for? also 'mexican UFO' sounds awful.

A Whisper!!!???? now don't get me wrong, I really actually dig that song, but so many people don't, even the band have said they don't like it before... baffling, but nice to see them mix it up, maybe it's a big hit in Germany.
