Hurricane Irene: Emergency declared in six US states
well that's what they've been talking about. Because Manhattan is right at around sea level so there will be flooding. In fact they're going to close down the Subway I think from Sat. Night into Monday because they think the tracks will be flooded. It's going to be a huge mess. At least we have plenty of time to prepare. I'm more scared of the wind and falling trees than anything else

okay... that is true. but once again it's just my opinion. To be honest the music they're making now is less musical. I mean I was listening to a few songs from Parachutes yesterday and they're great. The arrangement and sound of the instruments together sounds so good even though there really isn't much going on. But then I hear more recent songs and it just sounds like a mess of sounds. And like I said before I just feel that the band is using these synth voice effects, releasing songs like Teardrop, and dressing they're like from the 90's to appeal to a younger audience, which is what I don't like. It's like I feel they have to put up this image of themselves to get people to like them. Why not just be themselves? Like for their first 2 albums they didn't have to do any of these things and released the best material they have ever and probably ever will.

I'm not trying to make my opinions sound like facts, because it's all speculation. I'm just having a very strong opinion because I'm just extremely dissatisfied with the direction of the band and who they are trying to reach out to, and I also just feel in general that a lot of people are so easily willing to accept everything the band does even if it's not as good.

Hurricane Irene: Emergency declared in six US states
I don't think so. We've haven't had a hurricane like this in decades. Also here we've had windy storms (maybe like 30-40 MPH) that have knocked down a lot of trees and caused quite a lot of damage. So the idea of a 85 MPH storm with a foot or so of rain too is scary.

it's kind of unsettling to see the direct path of the hurricane heading directly where I live :|

I sometimes feel people love anything the band releases simply because it is by them :|

Fine... then let's say it's voice synthesizers. Really it doesn't make a difference. They're still trying to go for the same effect of an autotune type deal. And having that effect is not making the band unique. If anything it makes them more like the other however many popular bands using the same type of effects since it's popular. I mean do you really think it actually sounds good? honestly? ...it's such shit

Exactly my sentiments. His voice has worked throughout... why use Autotune? Even Major Minus had it. I still say it's just away to attract to the audience that is used to autotune that's always used now. I completely agree. I've said it once and I've said it again that they would rather lose their as you put it veteran fans and make way to take on new fans that might not really care about how the band sounds musically or how their lyrics are. It really just annoys me. Because I followed this band for a while and really loved them a lot. And to see them just go in this direction of using Autotune and having songs like Teardrop... what the hell is going on? I mean honestly. You listen to any song from their first album and then like Teardrop or any other songs in the last few years and it's not the same band at all. I'm not saying to always keep the same sound. Because from Parachutes->AROBTTH they changed their sound up a lot but it still worked. I understand it's only backing vocals, but we've already had them use autotune now in Major Minus. There is no need for them to use it... Major Minus would be so much better with regular vocals. It makes the band sound sloppy. As mentioned autotune is used usually for artists that don't have a good vocal range. Chris can sing those notes so why is it necessary? And even if it is the whole UFO/Alien effect... there are much better ways of achieving that sound than using auto tune. I for one can't understand how some fans can easily accept some of the things the band has done. I mean to be honest do none of you really think that the band is trying to appeal to a younger teenage audience? I know people will respond but the reason why I'm so frustrated is because I used to love this band so much and I know the band can still write great songs (Moving to Mars, and Hurts Live Heaven in it's live form). But I feel they really just care about appealing to the masses more than anything else.

Vinyl Freaks and Geeks
yeah it's true. To be honest I like vinyl so much more now. I really don't see myself buying cd's much any more. I'll just get it on vinyl or digital (to play on my computer or ipod)

Vinyl Freaks and Geeks
I'm not exactly sure to be honest. I just use my dad's record player. I do want to invest in one myself, though a good one because my dad's can't play 10 inch vinyls. I'm sure there's some good brands to get on amazon.com. I wish I could help more if I had more experience buying them

I think he just mentioned something like it was a song he was currently working on, or one of the best songs he had at the time or something. I honestly don't remember.

I just listened that backing track... fucking terrible. I mean honestly what is that shit? Hurts Like Heaven is a great song, and I was really looking forward to the studio version, but these backing tracks are terrible. ...what is this band doing anymore? I'm now 100% convinced they just want to fit into the pop crowd and appeal to the masses more than anything being how popular autotune is today.

It's not Twisted Words I believe... I think they already have that on ASCAP, and also that song just recently was added to ASCAP. Dawn Chorus was mentioned in an interview with Thom after In Rainbows was released.

this looks like it's going to be really bad. at least i don't live close enough to the water to worry about the river overflowing and flooding. I'm mostly worried about falling trees from heavy winds.
