Stewert vs O'Reilly
^actually in that video I always felt that Bill wasn't actually getting angry, but trying to blow his personality out of proportion... though clearly he did a bad job of it and just looks like a easily agitated man

Osama Bin Laden Is Dead
I sent this article to greg, and figured I'd share it with the rest of you, especially to those (if there are any on the forum, i'm not sure) who thought the way his death was celebrated was okay http://www.timwise.org/2011/05/killing-one-monster-unleashing-another-reflections-on-revenge-and-revelry/?sms_ss=facebook&at_xt=4dbf7c61cf9d9df6%2C1

ACL (AUSTIN CITY LIMITS) FESTIVAL 2011
Lineup looks pretty great! Besides Coachella the best lineup I've seen so far this summer. I'd like to go, but it's way too far away.

What it means to be....
haha yeah... I sometimes find it annoying to, but I wasn't sure how to go about saying it, besides our first black president.

What it means to be....
yeah. I mean at least I can say I'm happy that I live in the time I do now and am happy to see a progression of sorts. I mean the idea of having an African American president, and the possibility of a Woman as president too is pretty great. Also the various equal rights movements throughout the countries over the years and the overall treatment of each other, things have clearly gotten better (especially when I talk to my parents when they were growing up). I still think though that a lot of people are used to a rigid way of life and thinking (especially older generations), which makes it more difficult to break away. It should be interesting to see what things will be like when our generation has a stronger foot in world views because at least from my perspective I feel each generation seems to be getting more open minded. edit: arg I wish I could discuss this more, but I have to head out to my internship.

What it means to be....
^you should. I think overall the biggest problem about us (talking about the human race, not individual members on this board) is that we are too quick to judge others. We automatically look at specific characteristics such as where you come from, your race, your gender, your sexual orientation, how you dress, how you act, what you religion or morals believe in, and automatically make an assumption as to what that person is like. And we make a judgement if we'll like a person or not, without even taking the chance to talk to the person. edit: and even if you don't like the person or disagree with them, then fine. But there's no need to look down upon someone if they're different, in fact they're just doing the exact same thing about you.

Stewert vs O'Reilly
^I agree. I mean Bill totally just blows the whole situation with getting angry. Even at one point you see Stewart jump back when he gets angry at one bit. I don't watch Stewart enough to see his political views overall (though I know he has more liberal tendencies), but I'd agree with him on this case.

Radiohead
I'd imagine it be the vinyl sleeve they'd sign. Also I would imagine that they'd also send the 12" with the newspaper album... though I guess we'll find out eventually.

Stewert vs O'Reilly
Well that's just stupid. The big difference between Hitler and Stalin was that neither of those countries had a democracy or a system of checks and balances. So there would be no way the government could get away with the atrocities they did (well at least to their own citizens). With a system of checks and balances that couldn't happen. That's also stupid with the regulations. It is common sense that if someone buys a gun a background check should be run as well as mental history (sorry to say). When it comes to a weapon you cannot sell it to someone who is unstable or has a criminal record. I hate to say it but the more that I read about republicans the more I hate them. From their social beliefs of being against gay marriage (which I just don't understand why someone would be against that from a common sense point of view and being accepting of people who people to marry whomever they love), to "pro life", to helping out the rich the less I like them. The only thing I agree with them is their beliefs (though through bush they went against it) of limiting spending and also promoting the citizens to want to do well rather than ask for a handout.

Stewert vs O'Reilly
I think if they promoted gun safety and limiting the sale of guns as well as running background checks it'd be better. To be honest I don't see them ever banning guns here because people in the south or the "heart" of the country are too into their guns. To be honest, I'd feel much safer knowing that guns were taken away. I think that some of the news organizations made a good point that Obama should've used that shooting tragedy in Arizona as a way to get rid of guns. I mean honestly how many school shootings or deaths is it going to take for people to come to their senses? If you think that allowing everyone to have guns makes things safer then you're a fool and you just have to look at the statistics. The only thing that I will give Fox, is that it shows the more conservative side of the story. To be honest when it comes to the news I like to watch and read all sides and then make a judgement based off my experiences and morals to what I agree with

Stewert vs O'Reilly
well either way you got to admit that Clinton is a smooth talker and can get his way out of any situation...haha
-
Stewert vs O'Reilly
yeah... they say they're fair and balanced but clearly they lean to one side (as well as many other news organizations and anchors... not to say they're right either). The whole 2nd amendment is old and outdated and should be repealed IMO. I can understand why it was instated when the Bill of Rights was set up, because after coming from the Revolutionary War and tensions still being high between the US and UK, it makes sense that the government wanted to ensure that people could bear arms especially since the army was probably not as strong. However today there is no reason for a person to own a gun. I understand the whole self defense aspect, but if guns were banned there would be no need for them in the first place, and I think it'd be harder for people to commit crimes and murder. Once again it goes back to the whole impression we give to the world. Being a country that spends more money on the military than any other, this is just another example of how it makes it seem the citizens are bloodthirsty. And as you mentioned the US has a huge amount of homicides. I can understand people like to hunt... then rent a gun in specified hunting locations or something. I just think that a country with little to no guns would be safer for the citizens

 I love how O'Reilly gets so frustrated and angry, but Stewart is so calm. Though it's interesting how O'Reilly dodges the question about banning assault weapons
