  1. I agree. I mean just look at this image of military spending Is it really necessary to waste all that money on killing our fellow human beings when it could go to much better things like helping our education system or giving our citizens more opportunities or more importantly helping the world economy? It doesn't say much as us as a nation to put so much emphasis on a military. It makes it basically seem that we are bloodthirsty. In terms of the soldiers I give them respect in terms of they are putting their lives on the line. But the thing I don't understand is people constantly say that they're fighting for our freedom when we've had our freedom for over 200 years already.
  2. it's better than the being a giant :P
  3. I've never really understood patriotism to be honest. I love living here, but I think it's a bit egocentric to brag or say how much or better we think we are. The funny thing is that compared to the rest of the world we lack in so many important categories such as education and innovation. but hell... we sure know how to have one hell of a military :|
  4. It took a while to read all of those but they were fascinating! I particularly found that eye one really interesting how from our quick eye movements we essentially are loosing like 4 hours of vision a day... which is crazy! It is though slightly scary about false memories. One of my friends has told me about them and it's really uneasy to know that your mind can be filled with things that never happened. It also is terrible in that as mentioned when it comes to capturing someone for some criminal case it's very likely you have the wrong person from a wrong testimony or lineup. Also that egotism thing was interesting as well just because I definitely agree people spend too much time worrying about others perceptions.
  5. haha... oops that's what I meant to say. I changed it. I do agree with that. I think a lot of it applies to a lot of different states at times. I mean to be honest I think that the more East and West Coast parts of the countries are my favorite parts simply because they think more liberally. Mainly in terms of politics but in terms of equal rights as well as not putting a big emphasis on religion. I hate to say it but it really really annoys the hell out of me when you have these religious southerners waving their flags and or turn their entire lives to American related things.
  6. That sucks you got that stolen Eddie... it looks awesome! It's really cool! The artwork is great! I have yet to put it on vinyl. But I could always post pictures eventually if people aren't getting it.
  7. 5'8 but even so I guess my face looks young
  8. i had mine so long because i was afraid of changing my look, but looking back it made me look unkept and not very attractive... just glad i got rid of it
  9. I think people think I'm probably around the same age too, so you're not alone :|
  10. i'm glad i got rid of mine... looking back it made me look terrible
  11. to be honest I don't think I ever really spent a lot of time studying in HS
  12. you guys are getting too old. I'm still being ID'd at places where the age minimum is 18, and I'll be turning 23 towards the end of the year :|
  13. 0 ...just because i graduated
  14. It is the American way to be ignorant, conceited, dumb, fat, and elitist Don't get me wrong, I love living here but people are very closeminded and elitist through the country. The majority of the country thinks that we are the best people in the world and I think we seem to look down upon other countries. I don't look down, but I know so many people that think we are superior just because of the country we live in... which I think is ridiculous. I think our value system is something that the world should adopt in having the opportunity of free speech/beliefs/lifestyles/etc. but I shouldn't be pressed on other countries. I think that there's too much pride. To be honest I never understood nationalism or patriotism to be honest. It is something that is just there and you don't earn. I can understand accomplishing something great, and being proud. But being proud of being born in a country doesn't make sense to me.
  15. My Newspaper Album just came in the mail!!!
  16. ^I'd have to agree. I think it'd be best to stay in school. Just because I think in the future employers might not like to see that you got your GED rather than a High School diploma. And if anything perhaps staying in school and doing extremely well can boost your GPA. I dunno... I could understand why you'd want to leave, but I'd personally stick with it.
  17. very interesting articles to read. In some sense the first article sort of reminds me of the idea of Wishful Thinking that we have as a kid in the sense that we often see our parents as indestructible but over time we come to realize they're human and have imperfections as does everyone. It's almost as though it's just that but continued. That second article is also interesting, but I agree that there should be some form of counseling available to atheists, non believers or just people who are uncertain. Once again it seems that there's in fact almost a looking down of people who are that way, or almost as if there's the feeling that since they don't believe in God or religion that they don't need counseling or someone to talk to, which of course is BS.
  18. The Office ...trying to catch up from last season a little
  19. didn't get to read the whole article just yet, but I'd never want to know. It'd make me extremely depressed and constantly be counting down how much time I have left. Also they made a good point because you can be hit by a car or die in a crash or something tomorrow.
  20. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503543_162-20063168-503543.html
  21. i'm actually surprised... I thought that you were going to say that there were reports that the neighbors complained of Bin Ladens tapes from all The Amazing Sounds of Orgy  I also have the t-shirt btw
  22. do it do it do it. if it was me you know i wouldn't hold it back
  23. exactly I agree. The fact that he or his compound had a pornography collection should really be the least of our concerns, and as mentioned before even if we were to reveal that to his followers I strongly doubt they'd believe us.
  24. I really don't see why the big fuss is over all of this. He also had a bunch of wives (I think like 6) and children from multiple wives too.
  25. I think the idea of treating your workers as family is a how a company should be run, and also how it used to be run in that you often were passed down a job or had a job for life, but now cutting costs are to large. Also I think that not prosecuting those fat cats was a huge mistake. Basically like just giving them a slap on the wrist. Do you really think that they give a shit about the people and how their economic status is? So not punishing them for their bad actions just basically condones them to do it again. I don't think it's bad overall. I think the idea and system is good in the sense of it creating competition, innovations, and pushing people to want to be successful. However at the same time you have to look at our current economic situation, and also see how outsourcing to cut costs as well as greed has crippled the economy. Yeah goods still may be sold here, but if you send away all the jobs to other countries then you're putting money into their economy. I think the idea of a entire free market is a good idea, I just don't know how well it would work on a super large scale.
