  1. Yeah, I know what a comma is haha, and that you write coma differently :).. But they both are pronounced the same way, so it sounds kind of dumb, atleast it does to me. Btw. I'd rather be an exclamation point, it owns both comma and full stop :D
  2. This! My favorite Keane album was Under The Iron Sea, but Hopes and Fears is certainly there too, and both cannot even be compared to the stuff that they release these days. It shows glimpses of great but... it's just not as good. UTIS had such a good flow, it really clicked for me. And then there's some bands that use the philosophy ''if it ain't broken, don't fix it'', such as Franz Ferdinand, who always have their recognizable sound. But many people feel the need to change, and so do musicians. It's just a part of their evolving process I suppose. It's kind of ironic in Keane's case, since their first major hit was ''Everybody's changing'' with lyrics 'everybody's changing and I don't know why', and now they're the ones who changed (and we don't know why) :)
  3. I would have to disagree. Both of these opinions you stated are wrong. They are the two very extreme opposite opinions: 'keep everything the same' vs 'every change is great' I think most of us here are somewhere in between: changes can be very good, but not every change is neccesarily a good thing. And how can you tell which change is good and which is bad? Well, you can't really do that objectively, that's where your personal opinion takes over.
  4. Haha, yes, I totally understand :) I too was kind of hoping they'd be coming back to their roots. But what happened is what I was afraid of, and I could even say that it was predictable: they accepted this new route, exploring a more electronic sound, new techniques, new instruments. I can see why they chose to continue in this direction, Coldplay is all about experimenting right now. I can also see why people could like this approach, it's recevied well, it's not a total bust. But I just don't like it. For me, none of these songs capture something great, something like the song Trouble had (just for an example). They're just your average pop tunes. And I can totally relate to the radio issue haha, it's like hearing a song from a random band. I'll still reserve a bit of hope for the actual release of the album, I mean, it's still Coldplay, they're bound to have a couple of songs I'd prefer. But so far...
  5. :( Been a Coldplay fan since the beggining. I liked every album release up to date. Even though the albums were different in style, they clearly showed musical progress and evolution of this great band. Heck, I even liked most of the b-sides too. Altough I still regard Parachutes and AROBTTH to be their best work, I listened to Viva La Vida many times because it was a really well composed album, brilliant if you listen to it without skipping tracks. But then came the Prospekt's march EP, and I didn't really like Glass of Water or Rainy Day... They seemed, I don't know.. Overproduced. Brian Eno's influence I suppose?. It kind of sounded too artifficial to me. Christmas lights gave me a glimmer of hope that this new direction isn't all that bad, but hearing these new songs... I just can't get myself to like them. It's like there's too much going on in a song (like in ETiAW) but it ends up just being a big mess. And the lyrics??..''I'd rather be a comma than a full stop''... Sounds like rather being in a comma than dead.. I know that's not the actual meaning, but that's an awful wordplay. Anyway, I just wanted to ask, is it just me going insane, or do some older coldplay fans share these views?

It's simple, kind of different from their other songs, and I really like it :)
  7. Right now, Assange is wanted by Interpol. His location is still unknown though. Also interesting thing, Wikileaks was held up on an Amazon server, and Amazon shut it down. I guess they got scared that the government will prosecute them too because they got calls asking about their link with Wikileaks. So much for freedom of speech... Anyway, they said they will relocate to Sweden or Switzerland or something. Also, before amazon kicked them out the site was under constant attack from hackers, and was down most of the time. And, essentially, Wikileaks itself is composed of a group of hackers. Julian Assange is a computer genius aswell. They got hold of all these documents, I don't understand completely how, but whether they should release it, I'm still doubtful. On one hand, it's the right of speech. On the other hand, diplomats are not always honest, that is just a fact, they have to do sacrifices and even lie occasionaly to hold peace. I don't know how the information that leaks will affect diplomacy, whic is very delicate as it is now. However, I also don't think anything really shocking was revealed yet. This was all kind of... expected, I'd say. Assange also said that the next part of the documents will be about banks and how they really work (corruption etc).
  8. I just have to say this video is amazing, one of the best in my opinion from coldplay... I absolutely love the subtle fun things such as the ''Credo Elvem eitam vivere'' sign on the theathre (''I believe Elvis lives'' on latin :laugh3:). It was just great to watch, and the song is pretty good, certainly made me want the new album now
  9. Wishing that I build a time machine in the future, so the future me will hand me the copy of the new Coldplay record today. Quite possibly it will cause a time paradox, but I don't care, I want a new Coldplay record. Now :P.
  10. It's easy to make friends when you meet the right people. Finding the right people is the tough part. For me, the getting to be friends is not a problem. It's just that, real friends don't come by very often, and only over time you find out who they are. I think one can be considered lucky if they have 2-3 real friends over a life-time.
  11. The band made me notice the number 42 so much more than before :laugh3:
  12. I try to move forward, but the world is just spinning in the wrong direction. I can't start because there's nowhere to go. Haha wow that sounds depressing:laugh3:... But yeah, there's no other way to put it. I wish that could change.

Yeah, Knives Don't Have Your Back is a great album in general, I've been listening to it a lot lately aswell :)
  14. When someone tells you that Coldplay song you reccomended is amazing, and you get the feeling like you did something extremely beneficial to humankind in general:laugh3:

Here's another one, a great live Give me simpathy acoustic, from before they released Fantasies :) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0fXGGnXQvs]YouTube - Metric - Give Me Sympathy[/ame]

I've found out about Metric about a year ago I think. It's an absolutely fantastic band, real talent. Along with the studio albums, I've seen a lot of brilliant acoustic live performances on youtube. Here's one :) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGRqOX-0OqI]YouTube - Metric Combat Baby (acoustic)[/ame]
  17. Yeah right, and it kinda makes you feel you're holding an important part of history in your hands, makes you proud... Especially if it's awesome like Coldplay, I wouldn't be proud holding a Miley Cyrus or Jonas Brothers CD, unless it was opposite day or something :laugh3:... Which is purely subjective, cause some people might think the other way around... Which makes every day opposite day? Okay so I've derailed my train of thought, but after all, it still qualifies as a random coldplay thought :P
  18. Yeah, that's inevitable unfortunately, CD's don't last long enough... I'm still waiting for a solid media that will have a longer duration time, computers are somehow too impersonal I think... I much rather hold an original copy of a cd in my hands :) On that note, my coldplay cd's are still in great shape, but the cd-cases are all banged up and broken :laugh3:
  19. Heard the new I am Arrows cd, it's an easy 8/10 :)
  20. Try yellow acoustic, walking through streets with yellow street lamp lights, it's priceless
  21. Tighten Up - Black Keys
  22. Good blues sound, and tighten up is a great song!
