Zane Lowe isn't prone to hyping things up (although he does present in that shouty, excited way). I think it's something pretty big - either a new single or a special concert. (Also I think the Q Radio thing will be pre-recorded: all the publicity about it has sounded like Q already know what's been said, plus, won't they still be in America?)

If you find it depressing you can call it Death and All His Friends. And if you find it uplifting, Viva La Vida. And if you're into mining, you call it Or[e].' Genius!!! No other pop star in the world could come up with that one!

The first time I saw Coldplay live Chris and Jonny did a bit of "Would I Lie To You?" a cheesy (but totally fabulous!) pop track from the early 90's. Another time when I saw them, Chris threw in a bit of Nelly's "Hot In Herre". I think he just likes to have fun with music. The report said rehearsals were dragging on and on, so he probably just threw in a bit of "Don't Cha" for fun. I'm really amazed at people freaking out about it. So what if they do it at the MTV Awards?

Okay, I'm not in the slightest bit musical, so excuse me if I don't explain this very well... I've never really thought of Coldplay in terms of chorus' - 'cos in quite a few of their songs, I don't hear one, just a refrain that you hear several times. But when I saw the original question in this thread, I started thinking about this a bit more. And my favourite bit of a Coldplay song comes just after the chorus - where Chris changes gear. Like on Viva La Vida at around 3 minutes when the big "Wooooaaaahs" come in or on Yellow at the end when he sings "It's true... look how they shine for you" And someone previously mentioned the end of Warning Sign (one of my faves from AROBTTH), where he almost whispers "So I crawl back in to your open arms". For me, it's what comes just after the chorus that makes Coldplay special!

In the UK our tabloids always go for the lowest common denominator - they celebrate the tacky and purile and fear anything challenging or demanding. That rubs off on the people who read them. I have a really great friend at work - we have lots in common, and she's smart and generally open minded - she hates Coldplay with a passion. When I asked her why, she said it's because they're so middle class! I guess at the end of the day, everyone is allowed their own taste, I just don't like to see people being hateful

Memo to all Guy fans: Make sure you see the new edition of Q: Guy looks unbelievably hot in their pictures!!! He's hardly mentioned in the article (Will & Jonny are virtually ignored too - but I've already had a little rant about that in another thread!!!) It does mention him doing the marathon... ... the thought of him running set me off on a lovely little daydream! :dozey:

I understand, and expect, Chris to get more attention from the likes of the tabloids - I just expected more from a credible music magazine like Q. I don't even think I mind the fact that he is the journalists' main focus - what really bothered me was the label "The Other Three" - it robbed them of their identity and it seemed disrespectful. They are three incredibly talented musicians in their own right and to call them "The Other Three" or "The Others" seems to completely disregard their input in the creative process and their contribution to Coldplays' success.

Just read the new edition of Q Magazine. Was initially really excited - it looked like a very long profile, including some great new pictures, and the band talking about each new track from the album. After a couple of paragraphs it became clear this was all about Chris. Guy, Jonny & Will were barely given any time. They were referred to as]"The Other Three" or "The Others" (the capital letters made it look like "The Other Three" was a separate band!), and any time the interviewer quoted them, it was usually about Chris. I know singers always garner more attention, and as frontmen go, Chris Martin is quite extraordinary, but in the interview he acknowledges how important Jonny, Guy & Will are and talks about how awful it would be if any one of them left. It's a shame the media generally doesn't seem to get this point and that Q wants to relegate them to bit-part players in the Chris Martin story. Is anybody else sick of the constant fixation on one member? :angry:

I think the whole Jay-Z argument is mental. He is arguably the biggest Hip-Hop star in the world: why shouldn't he headline? He's a way bigger star in the UK than Kings of Leon, who are also headlining. And as for The Verve - does anyone really care anymore? I think they're the big gamble of the weekend. No-one has heard any new material from them. Are they going to play all of Urban Hymns twice. Lay off, Jay-Z, he's more than up to the task of taking on Glasto!

Jon Stewart rocks - but I can't imagine Coldplay on The Daily Show. How will they all fit round that desk? Can't imagine Jonny, Will & Guy getting much of a word in!

I don't get how this works - still relativly new to this site. How do you know when a song gets voted off? Is it after so many votes? After a full page? I voted off We Never Change on this round

I've only heard Violet Hill and Viva La Vida so far and much as I like VH, I simply love VLV. It's going to be a highpoint of the live shows, I'm sure, and if nothing else on the album is as good, I won't care... it's one of my all-time favourite Coldplay songs already!
