  1. The Colorado quartet just finshed up in the studio recording the follow up to 2007's self produced This Room Becomes A Crowd. Tree Trunk Airplanes is more of an extended EP (one of two planned for the year) than a full LP. This moody and tense follow up to the lighter debut has the band really stepping up in production, cohesiveness, songwriting and an overall understanding of creating a cohesive collection of songs. The band is giving me permission to release this on various message boards and this is one of the first ones I figured I'd post it on. If the powers that be need confirmation I can put you in touch with the band. They are completely independent and getting this album out to the masses before pressing it to sell at shows. BTW, if you have to listen to ONE track as a Coldplay fan I'd say "Machine" would be the way to go...sounds like Mr. Eno himself helped on it...he didn't but, yeah...enjoy! :D "Diminished Returns" "Years Ago" "From The World I Have Known" "Eoghan, Late Saturday" "Lift" "Blame" "Machine" Full Album ZIP Sorry for the lack of tagging on the songs...I'll let the band know to fix it...
  2. I might as well count the Coldplay songs I heard in the bar after the show then...if that's the case I saw 37 songs in Boston... :laugh3:
  3. Boston Review I'm sure I'll probably get people on my case about this since it's not as "positive" as my review of the new album, but figured people might like to check it out anyway... http://turnyourearsoff.blogspot.com/2008/08/coldplay-brings-its-short-sweet-show-to.html

  11. Coldplay Finds New Life With "Death" "Although their new effort Viva la Vida Or Death And All His Friends isn't a drastic departure in the sonic sense from their previous work, it's the snapshot of a band in the process of both self realization and growth beyond whatever pigeonholed fodder the masses have to throw at them."

Which version does it for you and why? I prefer the organ heavy thumping of the album version...I love the direction they took it in and it fit so well in the #3 slot on the album...I know people claiming to be Coldplay purists prefer the simple piano of the solo version but, although a nice track to have, it doesn't convey the dynamic nature of the band at this point and to have a more piano based slimmed down version would have been a step back in terms of the direction of the album...
  13. Album version hands down.
  14. What I find interesting is that Vida is supposedly a departure from the sound that got them a ton of radio play in the first place. To blitz the general public with three singles already is quite an aggressive marketing tactic given there's a slight (large to some people) shift in how they sound. With all that being said, I see LIJ as being (so far from what we've heard via Kimmel and the acoustic version) the "truest" sound in terms of the casual fan. So it would make sense to get that one out there ASAP in case the rest of the album is more of a grower to those not fanatic about the band.
  15. Have you heard the entire studio cut of this song? If so, then sure your opinion is a valid one...if not, you really can't base it off of the acoustic version they came up with a few weeks ago...part of what made songs like Trouble and Clocks so popular was how they sounded on their respective albums...so, just as we can't say how amazing it's going to be, there's no reason to knock it till we've heard the real full thing...
  16. The song is just worn out for me...that's how I had to decide really...I thought, If I could put any song on right now from this album, what's the last one I'd pick and it was that...I don't hate the song or anything...
  17. A bit larger with more black at the bottom for bigger screens.
  18. I have a feeling that might not even be a complete version...hence the "rough cut" label at the beginning...
  19. That would be amazing if someone could do that...looking forward to it...
