  1. Swallowed In the Sea...just gorgeous, and I love the lyrics. The Escapist: Just like Abbey Road, their closing statement starts with 'and in the end' and goes on to say something simple, yet oh so true. And just like Dark Side of the Moon, the album ends in the same way it begins. It's a pretty masterful spot of plagiarism if you ask me. ;)
  2. I heard about this...whatever. People steal or spin off of ideas from other musicians all the time, and Coldplay has gone so far as to admit that. The rhythm and the tune are similar, but so what? It's not like they took the song and credited it as their own. And anyways, Viva La Vida is better. :P
  3. Cemeteries is in 3/4, DAAHF changes to 7/4 in the middle bit, and I think the Escapist is in 9/4 but I'm not entirely sure...
  4. See, on Canadian exams, swearing gets you a zero for the whole exam.
  5. Hahahahaha. No, I'm not quite there yet.
  6. Your Love Means Everything Part 2 - Faultline ft. Coldplay
  7. I think it's called Anthem of a Reluctant Prohpet. I just started it, it's really rather good. And right this second, I'm reading Chris's interview in Rolling Stone...he quotes Spinal Tap, yay :D
  8. I'll be your friend...:D I'm pretty new to Coldplaying so I haven't really spoken to anyone much. Here's some about myself... I'm 16. I live on BC's wild, wet and wooly west coast. I'm a total, 100% music addict/nerd/geek. I play piano, and I live for singing. Other than Coldplay, I like Queen, Pink Floyd, Jeff Buckley, Mika, The Doors, the Who, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor, Supertramp, and pretty much everything else that isn't rap or written just for making money. It's finally summer weather over here. I like tea. This is really random. My real name is Danielle, but my friend called me a rose once and it stuck. I moved to Canada from England when I was nine. Yeah. I'm sure I'll see you around here. ;)
  9. I haven't seen Coldplay yet (I will be and I'd rather go alone...my mum insists on coming however...), but I've been to a concert my myself. It was fine, although the atmosphere wasn't very communal. However, it meant I could just sat back and enjoyed the music without worrying about looking stupid.
  10. But one could argue that that would make Canada Democratic America. The world would be far more chaotic if everyone upped and left if they decided they didn't like their government, but even as I type this, it seems to make a lot of sense in a way. If there were a country for every political subdivision...well, I don't even know. I think I should stop talking as I don't know what I'm on about, and go to bed :P
  11. I really like it--it's the kind of song that can bring a smile to your face without realising it. Your voice is really pretty. I agree with what the person above me said; it would benefit from a little variation--maybe switch the melody up a tiny bit in one of the verses or choruses, and try adding some more dynamics. It's very sweet but has no peak/climax. But yeah, I think you stand a good chance. ;)
  12. Saffire, what do you mean? Are you saying that Democratic Americans should just move to Canada or Europe if they don't like the government? Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking the piss. My brain just isn't computing.
  13. I like this thread. I don't exactly consider myself politically educated, but I try and keep up. I guess I officially support Obama and would vote for him were I an American, but I'm more neutral than anything. It's great to see opinions other than the ones I have been spoon-fed.
  14. What made me happy? Finally buying Viva La Vida, for one thing. (It's gone round 7 times already) That, and I am finally done all of my exams, so I am completely free for the summer! Done with grade 10! :D
  15. I'm not sure...I much prefer Chris's voice to Bono's, but...U2 was there first...and I think that had U2 not existed then Coldplay would have been a very different band. My mum claims that Coldplay is a rip-off of U2; I say they're more of an emulation. :P So yeah. I can't decide. I love them both.
  16. Gawd...this'll be tricky. 1. Sail Away Sweet Sister - Queen 2. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd 3. Somewhere Only We Know - Keane 4. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own - U2 5. Us and Them - Pink Floyd 6. Lady Madonna - Beatles 7. Love Today - Mika 8. That's The Way - Led Zeppelin 9. Far Away - Ingrid Michaelson 10. Freeze My Senses - Lionel Neykov I'm sure if I look back on it tomorrow, it will have changed...
  17. Hehehe, yes, I know what you mean. Spook junkies... I like your iambic pentameter, very clever :D I won't be writing those any time soon, not after having been force-fed them by the English curriculum...it's a shame, I quite like it really.
  18. To me, the whole album brings up imagery of medieval Europe, England in particular. In that setting, almost everyone was devoutly Christian, which to me explains the religious references in the album. I don't know, I might be alone in thinking this--just my two cents.
  19. If you're a girl, or a transvestite, or anyone who wears a bra just for the fun of it, stick it down under the connect-y bit in your bra, provided the camera's small enough. Works a charm--security can't exactly check in there. For guys, though, I dunno...in your sock?
  20. To Brits (well to me at least, having lived in England), Australians sound...well, Australian...:laugh3: They definitely sound different, if that's what you mean...?
  21. Creepy. I like it. Have you set it to music?
  22. I thought this up in about thirty seconds today, just lying on the grass...It's funny how that works; I've spend hours on a shorter poem before. Anyways: I find poems in the clouds and quench my thirst on my tears. I fill my belly with seagull cries, and the sky is my canvas. The breeze is my eiderdown, and this perfect day is mine for the taking.
  23. I'm knackered...but today I finished my last final exam so I'm officially out for summer! Wooo!! And I got Viva today, FINALLY, so I'm pretty pleased about that.
  24. I looove Australian accents. I could sit and listen to them all day. I'm one of those people whose accent changes depending on what they're surrounded with, so going to Australia is definitely high up on my list...:P
