I think it's nice that they play older songs as well (Okay, I'd still prefer the entire "The Lightning Strike", but that's another story... :rolleyes: ). They don't play "Gleaming Auction" frequently, though. They only played it that night because a girl who's attended a lot of shows requested it the gig before. ;) Oh my, I guess the post-concert-blues is already kicking in here... :dozey: Listening to their songs on full blast makes it a little bit more manageable, though... :lol:

@RoosAnne: Wow, those photos are truly beautiful! I totally love the ones with Nathan and your family and obviously the ones with Gary. :D You're very lucky indeed that they took so much time, I wish they'd had more time in Lörrach, too... By the way, you lucky beggars from Hamburg got the entire "The Lightning Strike"! :stunned: You can't tell how jealous I actually was, it almost made me cry because I wanted to hear it live SO MUCH and I "only" got "What if this storm ends?" all 3 times I've seen them so far... :\ Anyways, I guess there's always a positive and negative site to it. ;) Well, I'm not sure whether anybody's still interested in reading my review about the Street Gig from Tuesday, but just in case... Here it is: Regarding the fact that I’d REALLY wished I’d win a ticket for that Street Gig near Karlsruhe, I was even more baffled when I received a message on my mobile phone on Monday afternoon, telling me I had won a ticket for two persons! I thought this must obviously be a fake or something like that, I’d never had so much luck at once! :stunned: But I answered because I thought I couldn’t lose anything, and I really got a confirmation, so it was real! Well, now the only problem was how to get there as the place where it took place was like 280 km away from here. We soon found out that it wouldn’t be possible to go by train, so we were quite desperate and didn’t know what to do, it actually looked quite bad. But then, I met a girl by accident who lives not far away from here, and she said she’d take us both with her! As I already said, I’d never had that much luck at once, so now I really believe that miracles can really happen! :) So yesterday in the afternoon, she and her friend picked us two girls up and we started our journey to a little town near Karlsruhe called Liedolsheim, where this special gig would take place at a go-cart-racetrack. :D We finally arrived at that racetrack which was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded only by fields and trees, about 1 ½ before the doors opened (which is pretty late for my standards). Luckily, there weren’t many people queuing up, so I was fine again. But only for a few minutes, because then I noticed that I didn’t carry any documents with me to prove that I really was over 18, because otherwise they wouldn’t let you in. That’s why my nerves were almost on edge and I prayed they wouldn’t check. Well, you can probably tell how relieved I was when I got in without any problems at all! ;) Inside, we got to the front row again, directly in front of Nathan. While we were waiting for Sometree to enter the stage, we could see Gary, Nathan and Tom walking around in the backstage area, which was a build-up tent on the racetrack. So, a little delayed, Sometree came on stage… Well, I’d already seen them when they supported the guys in May, so I knew what to expect… In my opinion, they’re quite okay and they’ve got some nice songs, but I think they need more practice and have to refine their performance. ;) At about quarter to ten, a guy got on stage and I was told that he was “popular” – being a presenter of MTV. I guess he was picked for that job because MTV was one of the sponsors of that gig… Anyways, he talked a bit and gave away three mobile phones to some lucky winners. I was praying all the time that I wouldn’t be one of them, because then you had to leave your place and get on stage. But I didn’t want to leave my nice spot at the front, so I was very happy when that guy finally left. :lol: Shortly after that, the stage was free for the boys of SP to enter. By the way, I just looove the great background screen, I was so excited about it because they didn’t have that one when I saw them in Stuttgart in May. So, at the beginning of the show, several cities are listed with the lyrics of “Chocolate”, saying “All these places feel like home” and then one could read “Snow Patrol Dettenheim”. :D They played “If there’s a rocket to tie me to it” and “Chocolate”, before Gary finally welcomed us “people of the forest”. Yes, that’s how he called us – I guess because we were in the middle of nowhere and because all you could see were trees. :lol: He then said they’d now play “Gleaming Auction”, which they hadn’t played for 5 years or something. A girl had requested it on Sunday and so he dedicated it to her. :) A great performance of “How to be dead” was followed by “The Golden Floor”. Before they started playing, Gary told us that he’d gone on go-kart for the first time of his life and pointed out that he actually doesn’t drive a car at all because he just shouldn’t drive – he acted what would happen if he tried to drive: Crash. And that this actually happened on the racetrack. :lol: He didn’t kill anyone else, but he hurt himself. Everybody was like: “Ooooh…” and he said that he wasn’t looking for sympathy and that he just wanted to note that if we’d hear him bending over and screaming, his “accident” was the reason. He said he’d sound like a 75-year-old man with arthritis – then he demonstrated it. It was simply too hilarious! :lol: “Run”, which was the next song, was dedicated to a girl in the front because Gary thought that she was looking at him during the last song like she’d hate him. :lol: All the way through their show, a moth was flying around the stage and of course Gary noticed that as well, saying: “That little guy is f…d. He’s just flying around going: ‘F…, there’s a light, there’s a light, there’s a light, there’s a light, …’ He’s gonna sleep tonight! If he can find home again…” So he dedicated “Make this go on forever” to the fundless task of being a moth. :lol: The sing-along-part in “Shut your eyes” was divided up into the ladies’ and the guys’ parts and Gary instructed us to sing as loudly as possible so we would “scream” those trees away. ;) When he was telling that there was something special about that gig and that it felt like a secret, like nobody else in the world knew about it, some guys in the back began to sing “Shut your eyes and sing to me” again. That made him laugh and he obviously seemed to like that sort of dedication, so “Chasing Cars” went out to those “dedicated men”. ;) Another truly beautiful version of “Crack the shutters” and “Take back the city” followed. Before they could play “Open your eyes”, Gary had to drink because he claimed that he’d swallowed the moth and noted that it wasn’t very tasty, either. :lol: Then he said goodbye, thanked us all for coming from far and wide and pointed out that they didn’t really get to do many gigs in the forest but that he liked it. :) Well, as for the encore… This time I prayed even more that they’d play the entire “The Lightening Strike”, but it obviously ended again after the first part…A cracking performance of “Tiny little fractures” and also “You’re all I have” (which is one of the best live songs anyway) helped me to almost forget my disappointment, though. ;) Some other things I remember but can’t arrange particularly were Gary’s love for Johnny’s new snare drum which he called “the sexiest snare drum in the world” and the great interaction between him and Nathan yesterday. One time, Nathan’s microphone was in the totally wrong position, but he couldn’t put it back himself because he had to play the guitar, so Gary tried to help him or at least it looked like that. Maybe he also tried to tease him, who knows…? Because sometimes he also used to stand and sing right behind Nathan just to confuse him. It looked quite funny, though. :lol: The most hilarious moment though happened during “Run”. Nathan played a totally wrong chord (one could really hear that) and Gary just went over and looked at him in a significant but funny way and Nathan’s facial expression then was just totally priceless! :laugh3: At the end of the gig, a kind security guy handed me one of the guitar picks Gary’d tried to throw into the crowd and I also managed to take a photo of the setlist. :) As we were dependent on the two girls who took us with them, we didn’t have the chance to wait for the boys to come out, but I actually doubted that there was a way to meet them at that racetrack anyway… By the way, the whole gig was filmed as there was a livestream on the internet yesterday and I think some of the material will be used for a special about the gig which will be aired on MTV sometime in August. All those cameras everywhere were actually the only thing that was a bit annoying because the cameraman filmed us like a hundred times… I guess it was because I was singing along so fervently… :rolleyes: :lol: I'm already uploading my videos and will start editing my photos now, so be sure they'll follow sooner or later. :)

I'm looking forward to reading your reviews! :) @Larry: Forget the beach - watch that livestream, it's definitely worth it! :) So, now I’m finally back from my little Snow Patrol-concert-trip. Unfortunately though, I wouldn’t mind if the trip was extended again… :lol: I should say I’m still in a total awe and with my head somewhere up in the clouds, but I guess I should try to keep as many memories as possible written down or otherwise I’ll forget bits here and there and mix things up, which I already started anyway... Well, for a first, here’s the review of Sunday’s gig in Lörrach: My best friend and I arrived at about lunch time facing a sunny blue sky. People were enjoying the beautiful weather, eating ice cream and watching the technicians and the crew building up the stage and equipment. As it was a town square, it was “open” to everyone and there weren’t any entrances and therefore no lines to queue up. That’s why we didn’t really know what to do and just went into a café for some time, strolled around the town and kept looking for the tourbuses which were nowhere to be found. At about 18.30, they finally started “clearing” the whole town square and all the people who didn’t have a ticket for the show had to leave. Only after having queued up for like 30-45 minutes, we were already let in and got hold of nice spots in the front right between Nathan and Gary. :D Around an hour later, the supporting act, a newcomer band from Karlsruhe called “Damnasty” entered the stage. And to be honest, I didn’t really like them. For my share, every move of them seemed so exaggerated and kind of forced, plus the lyrics didn’t appear to be that “smart”, either. Well, the music wasn’t the type I prefer listening to anyway, so I didn’t miss them when they finally left the stage. ;) While the crew got the stage ready for the boys, they played the same mixtape again which they’d already used at the gig I attended in May. So I was really happy to hear “Glass of water” and kept singing along and “warming up” my voice. :D Then, around 9 o’clock, the boys came on stage with the phenomenal “If there’s a rocket to tie me to it” – I really think that song is the perfect start for the show. :) He also sat on the piano and serenaded to Nathan. After that, Gary welcomed us all and drank, but then dropped his bottle, explaining that he had butter fingers and that he didn’t know whether there was a German equivalent, but that it meant that you let everything fall down. :lol: The next song was “Chocolate”, during which he forgot a part of the lyrics and mixed them up a bit. He then told us that they’d never played on a town square before. The funny thing was that there were people sitting in windows and on balconies right across the stage and Gary said hi and waved at them. “Hands open” followed which is my favourite live track and I should say this was the best performance I’ve seen of it so far! :) Before “How to be dead”, Gary pointed out that it was a night of firsts and that they’d never done that before either, but that he wanted us to wave to the song. Afterwards, he spotted someone who didn’t wave, saying: “You don’t have to wave if you don’t want to, but I want you to smile. I want to make all of you smile because that’s just what we’re supposed to do, it’s our job… Aaaah! Now, that’s a smile! I’d really like to come down and kiss everyone who waved right in the face. But that would take too long.” :lol: The next songs were “The Golden Floor” and a terrific version of “Somewhere a clock is ticking”. During that song, Gary broke a string and had to retune his guitar afterwards, explaining that he never used that one anyway. :lol: That was when he noticed some people standing on the roof of a building. He obviously must have been a bit frightened by them because he asked them whether they were robbers trying to break into that house. He pointed out that now they’d just detected another robbery, only doing their job. Then he noted that it wasn’t a very good time to rob that house and stressed out that if that was our house, we should actually run back down there. So because of that incident, he dedicated “Run” to those robbers on the roof. :lol: After a beautiful performance of “Make this go on forever”, it was time for the sing-along-section during “Shut your eyes”. He asked us whether we really want to sing along and said: “It’s very easy. I wrote it, it’s gotta be f…ing easy!” :lol: Gary kept on babbling for ages, commenting the weirdest things and dancing to the drums, before we had to sing “Shut your eyes and sing to me” as quietly as possible. So in the end, Gary called us “the most quiet 2000 people” he’d ever heard and that we’d probably just broke a world record. :lol: After that, he made us sing it by and by louder and louder. The following songs were “Chasing cars” and “Crack the shutters”. Then, a guy in the crowd shouted “I love you Gary!” and Gary was like: “Thank you, this is all so sudden! I don’t know what to say… What have you got to offer me? Have you got a house or something? Do you have somewhere we could live together? Do you have transport? ‘Cause I like to go to the cinema sometimes, I like to see movies… So, if you’ve got a car or a bike or a tiny helicopter…I’m yours.” He then dedicated “Take back the city” to his “new husband”. :lol: The last song before the encore was “Open your eyes”, which was really nice! For some reason, Nathan couldn’t stop laughing while playing. Every time he’d pulled himself together, it only took him about 5 seconds and then he started giggling again. :lol: It was very funny to watch indeed. After a short break, the first tunes of “The Lightening strike” were to be heard and I was praying they’d play the entire song and not just the first part. I was very excited and hopeful, but then it ended again after “What if this storm ends?”. :/ Never mind, though, I still love the fact that they play it live at all. The next song was “Tiny little fractures” which they hadn’t played live for ages and Gary dedicated it to a few girls at the front, thanking them for attending so many gigs. I think that was very sweet of him. :cheesy: The whole gig ended with a very dynamic “You’re all I have”, the guys were really bursting with energy! Well, of course I didn’t want it to end, but at least I was lucky enough to get hold of one of Gary’s guitar picks, so I was conciliated again. ;) We then just arrived in time at the backstage “area”, where Pablo and Gary already were signing stuff and posing for photos. A white van was already waiting for them, so they obviously didn’t have much time to talk. Gary just signed my cover of “Eyes open” and I asked him for a photo. As it took some time for my best friend to find out how the camera works, we just stood there arm in arm for what seemed like ages. :blush: I guess I owe her something for taking so much time… ;) :cheesy: Afterwards, Pablo and Tom signed my cover as well. Sadly, I didn’t get to meet neither Nathan nor Johnny because they directly got on the van. Oh well, next time then. ;) Ooops, just noticed that this isn't really a "short" review... :embarassed: Well, I just tried to remember as much as possible, I hope you don't mind. I don't want to bore you or something... :embarassed: Well, if there's still someone who's interested in photos or videos: I've got loads of them, I'll just sort them out and edit them and then post them later. :)

Guys, I'm sorry, I guess the review's got to wait. :blush: :cheesy: I'm not sure whether anybody's posted it on here or not, but there was something like a competition for a so-called "Street gig" which will take place near Karlsruhe tomorrow. I actually just participated for fun as I was almost sure I wouldn't win anyway... But today I received a message telling me I really HAD won! I was like: :stunned: and didn't want to believe my eyes. Now I start realizing that I'm going to see Snow Patrol in just about 24h again!!! :stunned: It will be quite a journey (~ 280 km), but it'll definitely be worth it, I guess. :)

Just got back from my little trip to Lörrach and well, what can I say apart from: It was SO freaking amazing!!! :dance: :cheesy: :dance: :heart: :dance: Have to unpack my stuff and so on now, but I promise I'll write a review this evening as I just have to write some of those many fabulous moments down. :) I also took loads of photos and made some videos and will post them later as well. :D @SueDeNimes: It was nice to read your reviews! I thought I'd already had a lot of luck, but you seemed to be even more lucky! ;) :lol:

I'm going to see them tomorrow, so I think I might post a little review during the following week. :) I'll also take photos and make some videos. :) I wonder whether the setlist's still the same or whether they changed it a bit... Well, I at least hope that I'll get so see the screen this time. :D I'm so looking forward to seeing them again and I'm so excited.
