  1. M. Ward's new album "Hold Time" is fantastic, with bits of old rock sound and a bit of Jonny Cash thrown in with all kinds of other cool touches. I loved it from first listen! His album "Post-War" is great too, and "Transfiguration of Vincent O Brien." I really do like his lyrics and they're quite thought provoking. A great live performance [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X3vlC88M28]YouTube - M. Ward - "To Save Me" on Ferguson 3/6/09 (TheAudioPerv.com)[/ame] Andrew Bird's "Noble Beast" and "Armchair Apocrypha" are some of my current favorite albums. Armchair is darker, the lyrics are delicious, dark, strange and brilliant. Noble Beast is a bit more gentle and is just beautiful. There is a lot of haunting stuff there. (My favorite Bird song [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXGK2sYXdBU]YouTube - Andrew Bird - Not a Robot, But a Ghost[/ame] ) (from Armchair [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnXCzFnkxtY&feature=related]YouTube - Andrew Bird - "Imitosis"[/ame] ) The Decemberists' "The Crane Wife" album has been another favorite... it's AMAZING, beautiful, sad, thought provoking and strange. I definitely suggest it, and if you like it, also check out "Picaresque"! GREAT song [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83GeGNegaNQ]YouTube - The Decemberists - The Perfect Crime No. 2[/ame] I've also been listening to some My Morning Jacket lately... maybe you could try them?
  2. Happy birthday Colin!!!
  3. Mine would be: Sting Chris Martin Thom Yorke Adam Levine David Bowie Bryan Adams and I don't know if these two count, because they aren't exactly "rock": Andrew Bird M. Ward :D

Revisiting because Andrew's album is awesome and more people should give him a try! ;) I almost got to see him in concert but he had to cancel *sigh* he's always a hit on the overhead at my work though! His music is amazing...

I come with some more Andrew Bird: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xOLwSzQFJo&feature=related]YouTube - Andrew Bird with Yo Yo Ma[/ame] Andrew with Yo Yo Ma... check it out! Beautiful little performance. The man has definitely leapt to my current top five. His music is... just... colors, words, feelings, emotions and all of those other wonderful things in life
  7. ha ha ha!! this sounds amazingly hilarious already...
  8. Ren, I knew you and Briggs were lovers at key parties ;) hehe I'm sorry I've been away.. I've been feeling pretty wretched lately phyiscally (this darn unexplained health issue that comes up on NO tests). I've missed ya'll though... and my current RH song obsession is "The Tourist" and also "Talk Show Host". GAH
  9. We Never Change... only one of the most perfect songs ever.
  10. I agree about the music suggestions, honestly... a lot of the music Chris talks about is also music that my indie-loving friend has, so he's been happy about Chris' influence on my music LOL. But besides that, I also get ideas for my novel writing...
  11. I am so glad to hear people saying this about the lyrics, and also praising their new album. I seem to hear bad feedback about it all the time and I don't get it! It's such a great collection of songs... I absolutely love LOVE "This is the World We Love In" and "I Can't Stay", "Joy Ride", and "This Is Your Life". Sooooooo good. The lyrics feel like they really cut deep for me, but I guess some people don't like things that make any emotional sense at all...
  12. I agree. I love the whole album from start to finish. 15 Step is such a great opener and by the time you're at Jigsaw Falling Into Place, you know you only have one song left... and personally, I'm always ready to run to the radio and start it over as soon as Videotape is done! :D
  13. i would laugh and get in on the joke, really, but... daughtry? I could seriously cry or be ill just thinking about it... sorry. hehe
  14. that's impossible for me tooooo! But I would say right this second: "Juliet" by Stevie Nicks, because I consider it to be sort of my life soundtrack song also, "Soul Cages" by Sting, "China Roses" by Enya and most recently, "Jigsaw Falling into Place" by Radiohead
  15. I've noticed the hate on both sides... too bad. As I tell people out here in 'real life', it is possible for the human brain to like and respect both Coldplay and Radiohead. Shocking, I know... but it's scientifically possible. I can back this up with the fact that I'm a human (well.. i guess we could argue that) and I like both of them. At the same time. Really. But then, I also love about fifteen other artists/bands... so I guess maybe I'm just weird :D THANK YOU for the compliment on my sig, btw! They are both great men :D My list of great men goes on with people like Sting, David Gray, Mark Knopfler, David Bowie, Andrew Bird and others. But of course, one of my greatest musical heroes is Stevie Nicks :D

Yeah, his whole Noble Beast album is now on my top ten favorite albums of all time list... it's insane. I'm listening to it now and it gets better with every listen. not many things can do that! The man is brilliant
  17. some car album favorites: Sting/All This Time (live) Sting/Soul Cages album Radiohead/In Rainbows Coldplay/X&Y David Gray/In Slow Motion Stevie Nicks/Other Side of the Mirror Radiohead/Kid A Bryan Adams/The Best of Me Bryan Adams/On a Day Like Today Garth Brooks/Seven some before bed album favorites: Coldplay/Parachutes Enya/A Day Without Rain Enya/the Memory of Trees Sting/Ten Summoner's Tales Dixie Chicks/Home David Gray/White Ladder thinking/writing album favorites: Mark Knopfler/Golden Heart Moody Blues/To Our Children's Children's Children Andrew Bird/Noble Beast Radiohead/Hail to the Thief Radiohead/OK Computer Coldplay/Rush of Blood to the Head Sting/Mercury Falling Verve/Forth Moving around music/cleaning: Kaiser Chiefs/Yours Truly, Angry Mob Kaiser Chiefs/Off With Their Heads Killers/Day and Age Radiohead/The Bends Maroon 5/Won't Be Soon Before Long Billy Idol/Greatest Hits Coldplay/Viva La Vida songs would be.. soooooo mixed up lol. I am so nuts with switching songs around that it would be impossible to list. So I have to do it in albums lol
  18. the only thing I've liked so far this year is Noble Beast by Andrew Bird. I've nearly worn the disc out already from overplay. It's a fantastic album and jumped very quickly to high on the list of my favorite albums ever. I've liked what I heard of M. Ward's new album as well... Heard there's a new David Gray album coming out this year. THAT'S one I'm excited about... I love David Gray. I just bought a CD by a guy named Ben Woodward on CDBABY and loved about half of it. The other half... ehhh, not so much. But his acoustic songs are beautiful and were worth the eight bucks. Also, I've just heard a guy named James Yuill.. the song is called, "No Surprise." Look it up on youtube! he's very good and it looks like he has an album coming out this year. I'd never heard of him before but the song is really fun
  19. Hey everyone, I have been away so long! I had to catch up through about nine pages hahahaha... glad to see everyone in good spirits though. Gloaming 09, everytime I see your siggie, I have to stop and watch the gif file about ten times before moving on... which means that it takes me three times as long to look through the thread lol. And I'll go out on a limb real fast and say that Thom is distracting in general, especially while dancing :D hehe Also! I heard he is five foot five, which makes perfect sense to me. I'm five four, so I know what people look like in comparison to someone this size ;)
  20. I hope she goes to the Oscars tonight!! I always love seeing the darn dresses more than anything else lol and this year I'm not really even into the movies that are up... Grammys were way more exciting in that way for me. But it would be nice to see Gwyneth... even so, there should be lots of good stuff to see!! (I love clothes and jewelry... so... darn... much...)
  21. miss everyone in this thread... I haven't been on the computer much the last couple days... hope all are well. And as for 3000 posts... i don't think in my ten years of using the internet that I've posted 3000 anythings HAHA. ;) So congrats to you!
  22. New songs... would be... awesome :D REN!!! hahahaha I am so happy you like your surprise ;) And you are too cool for having OK Computer and Amnesiac on vinyl! We both want In Rainbows haha... do you have a place you can get it? I do, I just haven't wanted to plunk the money down... 17.99 here!
  23. ^^In Rainbows is SOOOO good!! gah. You'll love it :D Ren- is that the vinyl OK Computer??? I only have two Radiohead albums on vinyl- The Bends and I Might Be Wrong. I want to get In Rainbows... they have it at my record store and I saw it there again tonight... really wanting to pick it up! But I'm being good while I'm not working and trying not to spend money lol, especially on an album I already bought on CD! I live on the east coast, so I'm trying to figure out what time our listening party would be...
  24. HAHAHAHAHA!!! I will not admit how many times I've listened to that song this week... :laugh3: Though I will say, my brother bought me "I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings" on vinyl as a gift about a month ago and it's been spun to infinity and beyond. Ahhhh I love records.
