  1. James Yuill "No Surprise"-- GREAT SONG!
  2. Yeah, I watched the Grammy performance probably... eh... ten times hahahaha. It would get near the end and I'd be like, NOOOO!!! haha
  3. ^^That sounds like fun!! I've never done anything like that before but it could be fun... like a bookclub but a bit faster and more lively ;) haha
  4. Night Ren! I should be going soon myself... but I will probably be up a tiny bit longer... figuring things out with the story I'm working on now ;) Very cool, Briggins! That is quite an essay question. I love when people are able to take things like that and make them into something... I know when I was in school, I always took those very seriously, while everyone else wanted to just slap down an answer and be done and go off to the next thing haha...
  5. I agree Briggins... somehow, without all the lights and everything, it could be AMAZING. There is something about listening to it in the dark that really allows you to pay attention the layers and the beauty of all of the instruments, Thom's voice, etc. And I'm glad you understood my space/sci fi comments! They made sense in my head, I promise ;) Ooooh that is intriguing about you being inspired to write! My favorite music always inspires me to write and different music does different things... Sting's music helps me to construct my words with more poetry, Stevie Nicks with more magic, Radiohead with more experimentation and irony and depth of feeling about darkness and light. It's a cool thing, and music truly is poetry in a third dimensional form. What kind of writing do you do, Briggins? And I would love to hear more about the story Thom wrote! I hadn't heard that. I would love to read some of his longer form writing... I imagine it's less structured and orderly than his songwriting and probably quite poetically-mad. If he wrote a novel, it would be weirder than Tim Burton and Neil Gaiman combined! I'm working on something right now that Radiohead/Thom seems to be inspiring...
  6. That would be lovely Ren! I would absolutely love hearing it... and I keep hearing about how Nude evolved... never heard the older version of that either. I love in Nude how when he says "your dirty mind" it totally doesn't sound like those are the words he's saying... 'dirty' sounds like 'detty' HAHA. I love his accent so much. :D Briggins, I didn't really get into Sail to the Moon at first either and then one night heard it in the dark (sort of accidently, or rather, due to the power of shuffle) and everything was still and dark and the song just filled the space around me. It felt powerful and mournful and beautiful. I loved it after that... but I had the same experience with Exit Music, actually... both of them feel like science-fiction love songs. (That probably doesn't make sense... what I mean to say is, I get the tingly feeling that they're songs from the future, from outer space, from the stars... something about them feels not only timeless but free of even the restraints of our world and sensibilities) Alright, now I really sound a dingbat. This is what writers are like at night I suppose HAHA
  7. WHOA. Really???? No way! Weeeeird. I have never heard the live version, is it good? (Wait, am I asking if a Radiohead song is good? Duh) The last two lines are my favorite... it's such a kicker song. Do you happen to be listening to Sail to the Moon now? :laugh3: I love shuffle sometimes :D *shivers* I love this song too
  8. That is very, very true. I try to keep my own voice online as much as possible, partly because it's always disappointing to finally meet someone and find they are nothing like their persona online.
  9. Ren, you have probably the coolest name I've heard in a long time haha. I love names... it's a writer thing ;) I had a male character in a story once named Wren, but I actually like yours better :D I was hoping the post didn't come off too preachy! I've been getting myself back together over the last few months and trying to really stay away from stress in all forms (is that possible for human beings in this century? haha) and can't help but say something sometimes. And also, a RH related thing- I have listened to Punchdrunk Lovesick Singalong about a hundred times today I think... COULD THERE BE A MORE COOL SONG ABOUT HOUSES BEING FIREBOMBED??? haha edit- Lovely to "meet" you Briggins!

I'm sorry if it seems I can't take a joke... I definitely can... but things like this make me very nervous... and I think the Krauss/Plant thing was unfair... That's all I'm trying to say. I want to see this place stay positive!
  11. alright, I posted something over there... and it was a lot longer than I meant it to be but I just had to say something. I'm feeling a lot of negativity coming from up there lately and it makes me sad. I've been avoiding it for that very reason. I hope what I said wasn't too harsh or came off preachy... but it really does concern me a lot. And Knight of Cydonia, I agree with a lot of the things I've seen you posting in other spots on the board... it makes you want to shrink back sometimes! I guess I'm just too much of a goodie-goodie though...

I've hesitated about posting something here but finally decided I might as well just go on and do it... One of the things that bothers me the most about so called 'haters' is that they call names, poke fun and use filthy language. Name-calling is something we learn very early as a way to hurt other people, express anger, etc, and hopefully will be steered gently towards better ways of acting on anger. Picking on somene physically is one of the things we reach for first because deep inside we know that it hurts very badly to have our 'faults' pointed out or laughed at, especially when they are something we have no control over (body defects, thinning hair, excessive extra weight, scars or a wonky eye for example). I do it sometimes too, when I lose control... I know we all do! But this thread seems to be promoting all of those negative things. Name calling, filthy language and picking on people's appearance. Is that somehow reflective of good? If you like a certain band, would you want to represent them as people who call names, poke fun and use vulgar language? Maybe I'm a hippie, but I don't like hearing the word 'hate' thrown around so much, and the joking mentions of killing people are disturbing. I know you're saying it in fun, but a lot of feelings start in fun and can end up something else entirely. (who hasn't been thinking angry thoughts for a few hours and then had someone walk in and you yell at them without meaning to? It happens) We have enough real murder in the world without making pretend murder on a fan board. Besides all that... I don't understand the Alison Krauss and Robert Plant issue. It's not like they planned it so they could hurt Coldplay. "Raising Sand" was a great album that a lot of people really, really loved and were touched by. I talked to a lot of people who were moved to tears by it, had good memories brought back by it, etc. My dad was one of those people, and one of my best friends was another. It's a great album! Let's be good sports, just as Coldplay was. Besides, the person who says the most bad-mouthing about Coldplay is Chris himself. He's always railing on about how they're not very good or people don't like them, or teasing their style of music, clothes, etc. I sometimes wish he'd stop being so down on himself. :( Anyway, I love Coldplay fans and have really liked being part of this board, making friends here, posting, sharing music and fun. Let's keep it fun, please. Let's keep this a place to be proud of... and stay positive. If you want negative... turn on your TV.
  13. alright, I think I might go on and post over there. It bothers me more and more all the time and I don't want to be associated with words and ideas like that, honestly...
  14. I was going to say something but I feel like even posting in that thread is kind of feeding into. I might still though... even just to say that one of the things that bothers them the most about so called 'haters' is that they call names, poke fun and use filthy language... and everyone in that thread is doing all of those things. They're on the same level as the people they say they dislike. Maybe I'm a hippie, but I don't like hearing the word 'hate' thrown around so much, and I don't like all the joking mentions of killing people. We have enough real murder in the world without making pretend murder on a fan board. Besides all that... I don't understand why Alison Krauss and Robert Plant would be beaten on for rightfully winning something at an awards show. It's not like they planned it so they could hurt Coldplay. "Raising Sand" was a great album and got a lot of play in this house, all year long. I liked four of the five albums up for the award, though I thought only three of them deserved the title... and as Coldplay had already won a lot of great stuff, been recognized for their talent and given multiple oppurtunities to thank everyone and speak... I was hoping for a Radiohead win too. Just because. I don't know... maybe I will post after all...
  15. Hmmm... not so sure about her outfit but I LOVE her hair and makeup in this look... specifically makeup. Gwennie is beautiful :D
  16. wow. She sounded pretty angry there... is it just my imagination or did that seem a bit more... impassioned than usual!?!? Or, upset or something? Gee. Not that I could handle pressure like that probably, hearing strangers talking about me all the time. But I don't want to live that way and don't want to build a life that would lead in that direction, eeek. I don't know though. That sounds pretty angry... though a lot of it may be taken out of context. I never trust the media for everything. They take the words "I hate...people" out of a sentence, post it across the world and then you find out the person actually said "I hate when poor people get treated so badly." UGH
  17. wow... Actually a lot of people will probably be eating their hats lol. I'm excited though, I can't help it. this is gonna be interesting to watch... :D
  18. WOW! That sounds really interesting... and some of the boys from Maroon 5! awesome. I can't wait to see how this all works out...
  19. OMG. First Coldplay up for uber awards, then Radiohead performing, now Gwyneth coming?!?!?!?!? OMG BEST GRAMMYS SINCE THE POLICE REUNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. In no order lol: Coldplay- The Scientist Radiohead- Just Bryan Adams- Cloud Number Nine Sting- If I Ever Lose My Faith in You Radiohead- There There (a couple on this list change from time to time...)
  21. Weird Fishes would be AWESOME... but really, right now I don't care. I'm just so excited about them performing! My brother joked today that they should arrive with Thom being carried in a casket, ala Pop is Dead and just take the show over with their awesomeness... though we both agreed a flashy entrance won't be needed for them to blow the place over. Just their presense is going to show a few people what real music means :D
  22. i think it's cool that they're doing it. SOMEONE needs to have good music on American television every now and then. Maybe someone said, "if you don't do this, a whole generation of people will think that the last thirty years have only produced Britney Spears and Katy Perry." lol!
  23. i don't mind too much because a lot of the things on the shortlist I don't like. At least Razorlight was on the worst list... what an overpackaged, overadvertised disappointment. Ugh. But we all knew the polling was a bit skewed by people who were cheating (we witnessed it!) so... I won't read much into it. Still though. Still. thank goodness they nominated some good people for things- Radiohead, Vampire Weekend,. But putting Noel Gallagher in the heroes section? Ick.
  24. Radiohead. Now I'm going to say this and people will shoot me. Pop Is Dead. Yes. Really. :D
  25. I think I would love them even more if they played "Pop is Dead." Just for kicks. HAHA. Of course, House of Cards would be cool... I might be in the minority, but I love that song. It caught my ear right away... it's so soothing and alien all at the same time. Melancholy and sensual. Only Radiohead could strike that balance so well :D
