Australia wrecked any hopes of getting through in the first pitiful showing against Germany. Tactically and in pure playing terms they were smashed and never recovered. Same result as the last world cup - W/D/L (one of each) but no goal difference assistance this time. England played well in the first half but they just look second rate compared to some other teams.
