Broken Bells
If you missed it last week, another new song: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/broken-bells-keep-grooving-after-the-disco-20140107 I like this a lot more than "Holding on for Life".

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Well crap, looks like I have to see these guys again this year. They're doing Coachella which I bought a pass for in June. I JUST CAN'T ESCAPE NO MATTER HOW I TRY. ...don't give me that look, guys! (also, hi again)

Austin City Limits 2013
Schedule's out. Depeche Mode vs. Queens of the Stone Age AND Muse, because that totally isn't 3 identical fanbases or anything.

Atoms For Peace (Thom Yorke+Flea+others)
Amen. I bring a point-and-shoot for photos, because fuck phone-quality photos, but the only time I ever film at a gig is if something special is happening (i.e. surprise guest) so I can share it on YouTube. And even then, it certainly isn't pro-shot quality. Otherwise, photos fill my memory bank just fine. Basically, I freaking love this idea. I know Red Hot Chili Peppers make their audio available, but this is next level. But yeah, it probably still won't stop people from holding their phones above their heads and blocking people's views the whole show unless they do some sort of PSA before the show.

The National
Was the crowd rough? Because that's typical of Arctic Monkeys. I've been in the 2nd row for Arctic Monkeys before and really wanted to leave after a while because of how rough it was getting and how smashed into the people around me I was. Now I'm a coward at their shows and chill in the back, haha. But The National's crowds are very tame.

The National
Yeah, it's usually only played by atmospheric acts like Sigur Ros and The xx, and I believe James Blake is playing there soon.

The National
^ "Fireproof" is already proving to be that one awesome song on every National album that never gets talked about (just like "Anyone's Ghost" on the last one). Very Boxer-esque. On another note, I am seeing these guys in a freaking cemetery in August.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I guess if depends if it's their first show or not. I personally don't care since I've heard it a billion times. But I know if I didn't get Hysteria at my first show, I'd be annoyed as hell. :P

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I recall Matt saying on Twitter that they wanted a change of pace since they did Wembley twice already. Also seems like ticket sales are down from last tour in Europe too, not just North America. Are that many Twilight girls over their little phase or are Muse perhaps overdoing their touring?

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Happens to me all the time with my Panasonic since the dial is on top, which sometimes causes my flash to accidentally go off (followed by me profusely apologizing to everyone around me). It really sucks when it's too dark for me to see what setting to switch back to. I'm aiming to get a Canon by year's end, so hopefully I'll run into that problem less.

Arctic Monkeys!
Fake Tales of San Francisco had one of the biggest crowd reactions of the night, and I had no idea how infrequently they've played it until I got home and checked! Would've recorded had I known, but oh well, had a good time rocking out to it instead.
-
Vampire Weekend
^ I disagree but I'll respect you anyway for having the balls to say it, because I'm honestly way too scared to go into the Of Monsters and Men thread and say the same thing, even though I really, really, really, want to. :laugh3:

The National
Agreed. I revoke what I said about "Slipped" being a filler track because it grew on me very quickly. Now I'm saying "Hard to Find" is the weak link on the album. "Pink Rabbits" is one of the most complex songs they've ever done.

Arctic Monkeys!
I was there. Hate on. (Living in crappy Ventura finally paid off after 24 years of no decent band ever playing here.) New song sounded great. I was hoping they'd go in the direction of "R U Mine?" and it seems they indeed are. Took a couple vids of some old forgotten beauties: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnLWMwNA3pE]Arctic Monkeys - Old Yellow Bricks - Live at Ventura Theater - Ventura, CA 5/22/13 - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1k7LTdRSeY]Arctic Monkeys - Dancing Shoes - Live at Ventura Theater - Ventura, CA 5/22/13 - YouTube[/ame]

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
- Daft Punk
Boring album, but I feel like part of the reason this album is such a disappointment is that Daft Punk's legend and mystery has evolved into something it isn't. Every rumor and every piece of hype was so drawn out for many years that people had delusions of grandeur about Daft Punk's music. Hoping it's a grower, since I now like "Get Lucky" better than I did at first.- The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
It's true, aside from the first 10 rows here in the US, it's all soccer moms wanting to hear "Madness". Which I guess is still an improvement over the Resistance tour when it was 10-year-old girls wanting to hear "the Twilight baseball song" and "Our Love Is Forever". The Twilight girls are mostly over Muse now, which has actually led to piss-poor ticket sales this time haha.- The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
People will mosh to anything, especially after a few drinks. I've seen drunk people mosh to "Substitution" by Silversun Pickups, which is one of their least heavy songs. I've been to lots of Muse shows and haven't seen moshing, but none of those were a stadium show (because they don't play stadiums here). But from my experience with other shows, I can assure you that if any mosh pits pop up, you can avoid them easily or move elsewhere. Chances are they won't occur right up front but rather a bit farther back, and farther back, people are less cramped together and you can easily move to a different side if you need to. People do get a bit rowdy during "Knights of Cydonia" and "Plug In Baby", so watch out during those songs, but the new stuff is really tame (and terrible IMO) so it's not constant.- Concerts/Artists you have seen/Are planning to see
Summer is approaching and my upcoming list has imploded like it does every year. June: Austra July: The Postal Service August: The National x2 September: FYF Fest (My Bloody Valentine, MGMT, Beach House), M83 w/ Phantogram October: ACL (The Cure, Depeche Mode, Muse), Atoms for Peace Had Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend tickets but sold them to fund ACL.- The XX
I loved Coexist, but I don't care for this Gatsby song. I finally saw them last month, and I'm kicking myself for being too cheap to pay $45 to see them in a tiny venue last year (usually acts charge $25 for that venue, so I said no), because I saw them in a larger space and they just didn't feel right there. Their sound doesn't carry across wide spaces. Still a good show and lots of people singing along, but I feel like I missed my chance to see their best performances, especially if larger venues are becoming the norm for them. (I'm gonna skip that Hollywood Bowl show because that sounds like the worst show ever for them.)- U2
Hey, remember that new U2 album that was supposed to come out in 2010, that got pushed back to 2011, that got pushed back to 2012, that got pushed back to 2013, that probably will come out in 2020 at the earliest? :P - Daft Punk
