PHOENIX
I love it. I was scared they were gonna try to mimic "1901", as bands with sudden unexpected hits tend to do. Thankful they went another direction entirely. Hell, it sounds like what Coldplay's "Paradise" would sound like if "Paradise" didn't completely suck.

The Strokes
Man, that sounds like some ordinary Joe went into GarageBand and tried to make the most generic mimicry of a Strokes song possible. As much as I disliked Angles, at least "Under Cover of Darkness" was a pretty damn good lead single. This...is so dry.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Admittedly, I have not seen Coldplay in years, so maybe they've improved too. When I saw them back then, it was mostly lame jokes by Chris that fell really flat with the audience.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
There is a lot more audience interaction this tour, although stage banter is still brief is ever, with a "Thank you!" after every few songs and that's it. And no, they didn't learn it from Coldplay. It's not like Coldplay's the only band to ever acknowledge the audience. Hell, Coldplay doesn't even really interact much anyway.

It says Inhaler is hookless for the first 2 minutes. Not the whole song. Which is true.

Alright, I've given Holy Fire a few listens. My verdict is that it's JUST short of Total Life Forever's greatness. In fact, even though it's been praised in other posts, I think "Late Night" is the weakest song on the album and a mediocre attempt to recreate "Spanish Sahara". But the rest is great, with "Milk and Black Spiders" being my favorite after a couple listens. And "My Number" is just so infectious.

Warpaint
Man, it feels like they've been teasing and talking about that 2nd album ever since the debut came out. Especially since they haven't stopped touring since.

Coldplay nominated for 2 Grammy Awards (Best Rock Performance/Best Rock Album)
That sounds like something a Justin Bieber fan would say after Justin Bieber loses an award. Quality over sales, people. While the Grammys are largely about popularity, there is still SOME critical aspect that goes into voting.

Jack White and the Boss are full-on rock too, though. And Dave Grohl doesn't hate Coldplay. He loves joking about them and making them the butt of every joke, but he's never really criticized them. And Dave's an honest guy who WILL say something sucks if he truly thinks it sucks.

Thank god. Especially since "Charlie brown" isn't a rock song at all.

Arctic Monkeys!
Even though I think Humbug's a step down from FWN, it has 3 of their probably their 10 best songs (Crying Lightning, Pretty Visitors, Dance Little Liar).

Arctic Monkeys!
I'd start from the beginning and go forward. It's not just that their first 2 albums are their best, but they're also more accessible to newcomers. Not that the latest 2 albums are bad or anything, though. And by the end of the SIAS tour, they were mostly playing from those older albums anyway.

Doesn't Glasto hold almost 200,000 people? Coachella is 70,000 per weekend. Nice. Festival sets tend to be a tad shorter (Radiohead got 20 songs last year when most of their shows were 23-24 songs) so we'll see, hopefully that co-headline slot with Stone Roses gives them enough time.

We know Rolling Stones were their choice. They backed out at the 11th hour over money issues, so they got the safest act they could find which is RHCP since they never say no to a paycheck. And I don't dislike RHCP, but I saw them last year and Anthony Kiedis's voice is just dreadful nowadays. And non-headline acts tend to get 40-50 minutes at Coachella. A little less than other festivals where it's usually an hour. Expect at least 90 minutes for headliners.

The Strokes
Man, I surprisingly have no excitement whatsoever for a new Strokes album. I guess two mediocre albums in a row does that to you. I'll listen to it, of course, but my expectations are very minimal.

Well, that ends my run of 3 Muse shows in 4 days, and now I'm probably done seeing them until their 7th album (unless they show up at a random festival I happen to be at over the next year). Have fun at the rest of the shows, guys! I'll post some pics later.

Who's the hottest man in rock?
As a 100% straight male, I would still honestly consider sleeping with Alex Turner.

The Strokes
It's not any worse than the stuff on Angles. Unfortunately, it's not any better either.

You wanna know how I know we were close to each other, Dianne? The fact that I clicked your FB album and briefly thought they were my own photos! :laugh3: I'll briefly make my album public (act fast, folks!) to compare. First 40 or so photos are night 1. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.583711031643293.147628.100000132050984&type=3 The crowd was at its worst during Undisclosed Desires. Hoards of little girls rushed the barrier to touch Matt. The 3 guys to the right of me completely lost their barrier spot to little girls who shoved forward and then proceeded to text the entire rest of the show haha.

Psssh, we still got Bliss on the 1st night. That's an extremely rare song in North America. It got replaced by boring ol' Resistance on the 2nd night. As someone who went to BOTH nights, they were both equally good. Now let's see what night #3 has in store... (for the record, I sobbed like a baby during Sunburn, been wanting to hear that for YEARS) About 3 people down from the center slant. Chris was basically directly in front of me. I noticed the crowd was really tame until KoC and then it suddenly got wild! Not that I was complaining about tons of personal space to jump during Bliss, of course.

RHCP is a lazy leftover from last year who quite frankly wasn't that great at any festivals last year, but I think it's a really solid lineup all around. Has less upper-billed house crap than last year.

I was there too, Dianne! Got barrier on Chris' side! I'll post pics later. I also went to the 2nd night but was in a seat. Thank god I bought my Coachella tickets back in May. :laugh3: I swore to myself I'd see Blur before I die and it's finally happening.
