  1. chris martin said Human was his favourite song of 2008 :D http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/25194961/artists_pick_the_best_albums_and_singles_of_2008
  2. heard the new album is going to be more electro-movie theme kind of stuff. they were inspired by terminator and blade runner soundtracks. sounds good to me.
  3. how many books are there? what's the plot? i just saw adverts on the buses everywhere, but don't know very much about it.
  4. not sure if it posted here before: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/25194961/artists_pick_the_best_albums_and_singles_of_2008 Chris's favourite song of 2008 is Human by The Killers. :shocked2:
  5. overrated: dirty pretty things, the libertines, oasis, kaiser chiefs, kasabian, klaxons, mgmt, all x factor projects underrated: foals, the verve, portishead, silversun pickups, deerhunter, can, sigur ros.
  6. Nine Inch Nails’ “Ghosts” Tops Amazon MP3 Sales Chart Despite Being Given Away For Free Despite being partially offered as a free download in March 2008, Nine Inch Nails’ instrumental Ghosts I-IV still became the Amazon MP3 Store’s Bestselling Album of 2008, beating out Coldplay’s Viva La Vida and Death Cub for Cutie’s Narrow Stairs. The achievement is symbolic on two fronts: First, it proves — along with Radiohead’s chart-topping success of the physical release of In Rainbows — that music fans are willing to support artists even if their music is offered up at no cost. Second, it’s more evidence that Nine Inch Nails truly has one of the most rabid fanbases on the planet. (In Rainbows, for what it’s worth, ranked Number 11 on the Amazon chart.) Even though it was available for free, Ghosts I-IV was a good value even when sold on Amazon: the 36-track album went for $5. Multiple purchasing options were available when Trent Reznor first announced the record’s self-release, and after only a week Reznor revealed he made already made $1.6 million from the album. Ghosts was the first LP Reznor released after his exile from Interscope Records after a long, tumultuous relationship. Of course, Reznor constantly rewards his fanbase for their support: He practically gave away The Slip in May, and he’s currently promising fans on his Website that “a gift” is on the way. Ghosts was released under a Creative Commons license, which allows fans to remix and share the songs as long as it was for non-commercial use and they credited the original authors of the work. http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/01/07/nine-inch-nails-ghosts-tops-amazon-mp3-sales-chart-despite-being-given-away-for-free/
  7. can u not love them for this?
  8. they're probably the best new band in 3 years!
  9. * Friday, 9 January 2009 Radiohead drummer Phil Selway debuted a solo song, 'The Family Madness', live in Auckland on Monday (January 5). Selway was performing as part of a collective including bandmate Ed O'Brian, Johnny Marr and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy for the 7 Worlds Collide project at the Powerstation, reports leading Radiohead siteAteaseweb.com. During the show he played guitar and sang as he debuted the song. Watch video footage of the performance below. Also during the show Tweedy fronted the collective for a performance of Radiohead's 'Fake Plastic Trees', joking that he felt "like Paul Rodgers fronting Queen". watch the video here: http://www.nme.com/news/radiohead/41951 it's hilarious.
  10. radiohead - reckoner radiohead - 15 steps deerhunter - nothing ever happened
  11. yeah, sure, it was a rhetorical question :). i wish i registered on this forum before the voting was ended :(. never mind, next year.
  12. we shall see very soon.
  13. oh, thanks, it's virginia woolf ;)
  14. nothing ever happened is awesome!
  15. first two are disgusting, but Spiralling's got a hook.
  16. The Edge says the guitar parts on the band's new album 'No Line On The Horizon' were inspired by Jack White and Jimmy Page (Daily Star). http://www.nme.com/news/daily-gossip/41917
  17. it is about support. rock / alt bands are long runners, and so are we, their fans ;). but it is also true that rock / alt music has always been Album oriented, while Pop / R'n'b / Rap has mostly Single and Merch oriented marketing. that may be another reason. also, fans of rock / alt prefer a hard copy of the album because the sound is better. still lot of people even buy vinyls. with pop, it's mostly all about hits. who REALLY likes hits? stupid people. Do stupid people care about quality of sound? No. That's why these genres are more popular on legal / illegal download sites.
  18. i know. i recently wanted to buy some books and they were all 30% cheaper in tesco than those in Borders on sales.
  19. yes but they like to get recognized, you can't deny it. they just keep it in alternative sort of ways.
  20. you should be aware of the fact that there are no interviews or band members talking. it's very original and poetic. however, there is a number of voice messages recorded by fans. interesting. the best are the live clips. such an intensity.
  21. it surely would. one of the best documents i've ever seen. makes u love this band so much.
