  1. I donated. I'm not working and barely have any money left, but this is more important than anything I could spend my remaining money on. There's just so much poverty in Haiti, they're not equipped whatsoever to handle this. It's so sad. But, I'm glad to see that Chris is spreading the word. This is why he's my hero. And of course, he knows he can count on the generosity of Coldplay fans who would love to help. :)
  2. I wish! If I go during the summer, no, because UCL doesn't offer summer programs. The program I'm considering is at Westminster. I wanted to study at UCL in the worst way but unfortunately I don't think I can go for a semester. When are you going?
  3. Well, "pop" by definition means popular, well-known music likely to be played on mainstream radio stations, so Coldplay would be considered pop. "Rock" is an increasingly meaningless genre. Almost anything can be considered rock, as long as it uses drums and guitars basically. So Coldplay is rock also. "Alternative" usually refers to more artistic rock, newer rock, indie rock...even harder to define, in my opinion. But it's narrower than rock, and can include pop music. I'd say Coldplay is alternative. What I'm trying to say is that genres and labels are really useless and overlap too much to have any real meaning. It's very subjective, so there's no way you can win an argument. :dozey: Music today is usually a mix of many genres and cannot often be labeled as one thing and not another. (By the way, I made up those definitions so they could be wrong )
  4. This is so exciting! :D Can't wait! I wonder if it will be similar in style to the Violet Hill video?
  5. This is a great idea! :D Can you add me to the "maybe" list? I'm thinking about studying in London this summer, although nothing is set yet and I still need to apply for the program and get financial issues sorted out, etc. I probably won't know for sure until April or so but I'll have my own housing so I won't need to stay in the hotel. I really hope I can meet up with you guys! :nice:
  6. I would like to join too, please! My email is [email protected] for any mailing list you've got going. Great work so far!
  7. Wow, this is a really great thread. I'm glad I found it. I'm no expert, but I did take a class on African Politics this past semester and found it very eye-opening. We read a fantastic book called "The African AIDS Epidemic" by John Iliffe; I highly recommend it to anyone who's interested. Marie, I admire your efforts and wish you luck and success on your journey. I can't wait to hear about your experiences! :D

  9. Thank you so much to everyone who uploaded/will upload stuff! I tried, but in the end just could not get up at 5am EST. :dozey: But I knew I could count on you guys. You're awesome. Shiver is brilliant, by the way. :D
  10. Yay! I'm glad you had an awesome time! The first Coldplay concert is a very special experience that you'll never forget. And thanks for the great review! I can go to bed now haha. By the way...the classical piece is The Blue Danube by Strauss. And it's ok, I didn't know the name of it before either. :laugh3:
  11. Onlyindreams387: "Not to sound ridiculous....."quoting chris from tonight when he had a popped yellow balloon on his head <3  And: Amy and i will post our reviews on coldplaying when we get back home tomorrow :) amazing night! <3
  12. Onlyindreams387 Coming back from coldplay. AMAZING! chris was on fire!!! It stunk about b stage though.... Why no B-stage? Rain?
  13. :bigcry: I feel your pain, Sarah. I have friends in Albany too.
  14. GAHH I really should be there right now!! It sucks knowing that they're here in NY, and in Upstate to boot...and I'm not there. :bigcry: But it's like a five hour drive from my house and I really didn't have the money anyways... Still, I hope it was awesome and I can't wait to hear about it! :D
  15. Wow...that's a lot of money to have spent on drugs. How disgusting. And yeah, he completely contradicted himself here. Hopefully that means no one will take him seriously. Also, the point he made about politics is just plain inaccurate. Coldplay never bring up politics during their concerts, as far as I know! At the show I went to, Chris didn't even mention Oxfam or anything. "I don't vote any more - anyway it doesn't matter as nothing will change." It's people like this who make me wonder what this world is coming to. :(
  16. YAAAY I'm so excited!! I actually got The Messenger for once!! :D Oh, and of course I'm excited for the video too. July 17th would be perfect. Right smack in the middle of summer...and my birthday. :P SQUEEE
  17. I love it! Very well done. And I don't even like country or bluegrass. They're all really cute too, which doesn't hurt. Do they remind anyone else of the Jonas Brothers?
  18. Wow, that's ridiculous. I sure hope no one would fall for it...but I dunno, there are some pretty dumb people out there. :\
  19. Wow, that's awesome! :D I love our name, haha.
  20. :laugh3: Do it!! Good luck, though...I guess there were only six posters there to begin with. They didn't think it would sell that fast.
  21. I think it would have to be something from VLVODAAHF, because they have really matured lyrically so much on this album. Has anyone mentioned Yes? I like the whole metaphor of being dropped from a rooftop. Other than that...Violet Hill, Viva La Vida, and Cemeteries Of London are the best in terms of lyricism. I agree with everyone who has said AROBTTH though. That song does have really powerful lyrics.
  22. Ok so I have a really great story that you guys would appreciate. Today I went to FYE to get my dad a CD for Father's Day, and while I was there I wandered over to the poster section. I flipped through the posters, not really expecting to find anything good, and then I saw it--the perfect Coldplay poster I'd been looking for forever!! :shocked2: It was one I'd never seen anywhere else, a recent photo from the Violet Hill shoot. So I was so excited, but then I saw it was out of stock! :bigcry: But an employee was stocking the posters so I thought I'd get out of his way and come back in a few minutes. Then when I went back, I asked him if he had any more of the Coldplay posters, and he was like "No, it's my fault...I ordered them." He said he bought one for his son, who's a big fan, then was telling me about how he's not into music but he listened to his son's Coldplay album and loved every song! :D Then he offered me the poster from inside the display case since it was in good condition, and I was like "Sure!!" :D So I got my poster. :nice: As if that wasn't enough, when I went to be cashed out, the cashier saw my poster and was like, "My favorite band!" So I chatted with her for a bit about the Darien Lake show. She's going to the Toronto show too, I'm so jealous. That shopping trip seriously made my day. :D
  23. Most predictable interview ever. "Desperate Housewives might be on!"  She just said she's putting it up on the website now, so you should be able to listen to it again soon.
  24. You're welcome, and I should say the same to you! I'm pretty boring as well, haha. And WOW your videos came out really nice! I give you credit, because I was far too excited to take any videos. The ones my sis took were ridiculously shaky. OH MAN I really wanna go to the show in Saratoga Springs now!! Anyone up for a roadtrip? :D
