  1. hmmm... sounds fun.... put me down for Revolver :D
  2. what exactly does one have to do to "do" an album? :shy:
  3. ^ maybe I do! and I think he was right on that case at least. The melody and lyrics to Long and Winding Road are lovely... it's all the extra stuff that gets in the way, I think.
  4. ^I don't deny that The Long and Winding Road is lovely... I guess it just gets a little maudlin for my taste. Maybe it's the strings? And, I do have quite a few songs I don't love by them, but they are FAR outnumbered by the songs I do love. :nice:
  5. hey, thanks for the head's up on this site.. I love it! here's my profile... http://www.songkick.com/users/jenflor I'm still working on my past concerts, though! :)
  6. ah, Violet, "the Long and Winding Road" is actually one of my least favorite songs. I do like Lady Madonna, though. ;) I personally don't feel that the Beatles are over-rated. I agree with Mike completely... they were really groundbreaking and their influence is seen all over popular culture- not just in music. Not to mention the fact that they wrote some fantastically amazing songs- from very simple pieces like Here Comes the Sun to much more elaborate songs like A Day in The Life. Love, love, love them.
  7. The US release date is actually not until SEPTEMBER. I think the fans who know about this album (before any type of promotion for it has begun here) are the hardcore fans of SP and R.E.M. - these fans are probably the type who will import it... ... like I did... I love amazon.co.uk!! Just got mine on Thursday and have been listening non-stop. I think this is exactly right, Kimmi. And, the truth is, SP doesn't have near the following here that it does in Europe. In fact, now that I stop and think about it, I feel kind of bad that my purchase of the album won't count toward US sales, since I did an import. :( Maybe I'll buy it again when it's released here, just to help their numbers! :P But anyway, just wanted to say I am loving this album. My top three songs, as of right now, are probably 1. Point Me at Lost Islands 2. Held in the Arms of Your Words 3. That Silver Necklace Northwestern Skies is slowly growing on me. It's not my favorite; the melody and lyrics of the verses feel a little awkward, though I do really like the chorus. Overall, though, it's really excellent.
  8. ^ooohhh, this sounds very promising! can't wait!
  9. ahemm.... AUSTIN!! I'd have to spend a lot more time downtown if they ended up coming here! :wacky:
  10. cool. I'll be looking for it. ;)
  11. Aurelie- gorgeous photos! and awesome keepsake of all the autographs... who exactly is everyone? I can read Peter, Iain, Jacknife Lee and Troy... is that Gary to the left of the postmark? I don't know if I've ever seen his signature before! :)
  12. SP, Tired Pony, Franz, Noah, Florence, Jeff, and Andrew Bird?! Aurelie, I believe you and I are musical soul mates. I will be downloading this, for as much as I love all those artists, I only have a couple of those songs!
  13. OK, so I FINALLY got "O" and I'm listening to it right now. "The Blower's Daughter" is quite possibly the most beautiful thing I've heard all week. :wacky: "Amie" is also gorgeous!
  14. ^so far I've heard nothing but positive reviews. :) My copy is currently in the mail on its way to me- can't wait to hear it!
  15. ahhhhhhhhh.... listening to the Lightning Strike. lovelovelovelovelovelove
  16. it's a fantastic song and a good choice on your sister's part! :nice:
  17. @Christina- mmmm... that just sounds lovely. I'm jealous of all your vinyl. would love to buy it (in fact I keep seeing the vinyl edition of VLV mocking me at my local best buy), but I've got nothing to play it on. :(
  18. ^why, of course I do, Kimmi! :D I've got a few b-sides the lovely Karen shared in the MM section, and I think I've gotten a few from you too, but I believe I'm still missing quite a few. I'm eventually gonna break down and buy the first two albums... but I've been in such a music-buying frenzy lately, it'll probably have to wait a couple of months.
  19. Aurelie, Virginie and Kimmi- Congrats on your awesome experiences! I'm so glad it was as wonderful as we hoped it would be. Haven't had the chance to check out the vids, yet- will have to do that later, but Thanks for finding and posting them, Christina! and Sarah- I'm jealous they're playing it where you are. fingers crossed a station here will, too!
  20. Dave (or someone else)- will there eventually be one post where the tracklists and links to each mix are listed? I was just realizing some of the mixes that looked interesting are a few pages back, and I'm not sure I'll be able to go back searching for all of them. A central place to find them all would be wonderful! :D
  21. nothing yet? Guess our girls were exhausted by the sheer awesomeness of it all and will report back tomorrow! ;)
  22. here's another... :wacky: I just LOVE that shot! Soooooo, on a more music- related note, do you guys have all their b-sides, first two albums, etc? I'm slowly starting to get more, though I still don't have When It's All Over... and Songs for Polar Bears.
  23. :nice: Thank you! I will definitely be checking out more Editors, and I was excited to hear Hey Rosetta! cause I've been curious about them. And I would love the link to The Rumour Said Fire EP... I really did love "The Balcony". Thanks, Marie! This mix fit perfectly with my tastes and was really enjoyable! :D
