Sorry, Ian and mods, I know this probably belongs in the live section, but I was so excited I just needed to post! The lineup for the 10th annual Austin City Limits Festival was just announced and Coldplay is the Friday night headliner! I was hoping, hoping, hoping for this, and nearly died when I saw their name on the list! I've got my 3day passes already, so I'm ready for September!! btw, hi again to everyone... I haven't been on in a while! :)

The Snow Patrol Thread
I agree completely. I've always found his writing to be quite beautiful and interesting... he has a way with words, both lyrically, and just in articles and blog entries. Yeah, again, I completely agree about the SP forum. We have a few disagreeable people here, but the SP forum seems to be overrun with them. It seems like they're all trying to out "best fan" each other. They're not very welcoming to "new" fans. And yes, Kimmi, I think you're probably right about the pressure to produce something that's loved by both fans and critics. I agree that they (both Gary and Chris) should relax and just do what they do, but I think that pressure must be almost incapacitating at times! I thought so, too! :)

The Snow Patrol Thread
^Hi and welcome! :) about the blog: I'm glad to see it up. But did you guys happen to check out the "Gary's On Tumblr" thread on the SP board? I read just a few posts and I thought it was quite harsh. It seems to me his fans would be happy to see him communicating anywhere, but so many of them seemed pissed. Gary's blog entry from yesterday seemed a little defensive, and I wonder if it wasn't maybe due in part to that. :( I personally love the tumblr page, and was extra happy to see the blog. :)

The Snow Patrol Thread
hello, everyone! I've missed you guys! came to see what was up now that gL's on tumblr. :wacky: are we to assume he's working on SP stuff or TP stuff? edit: btw, I don't think anyone can reply or comment to him directly. It looks like he's disabled that on his posts, and he doesn't have a link for an "ask box" either.

Secret Santa 2010.
I don't know if this will be a popular idea or not, but what if the people who sent cards that haven't been received yet post a note to their SS in the thread? It seems there are quite a few people active on the thread who sent one, but haven't heard that it was received. And, there are still a few (like me!) who haven't gotten one yet, and are just wondering if one was even sent. What do you guys think?

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Hi there! Thanks again! I'm Jen, btw. I don't think we've met. :nice: I will definitely be checking out quite a few of these artists. Justin Vernon, for one! Also, Lissie has actually had quite a bit of buzz around here, and I haven't taken much time to listen to her stuff. Thanks for a great mix! Also, I forgot to mention it in my review, but I loved the album art you created, too!

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
OK, Mixtape Maker. I apologize for taking so long to get the review posted. And I also apologize in advance for how quick and low-quality it's going to be. I'd love to sit and write a ton, but I am seriously not going to have time to do that until after Christmas. :( I'm sorry. With that said... 1. starts with soft, acoustic guitar. sounds folkish; almost a little Avett Brothers-esque, especially the vocals. Like this! 2. This one has a familiar sound... maybe kind of Travis-like? I like the vocals and harmonies, but am not too fond of the guitar. 3. I believe this is Ray LaMontagne, though I don't know which song. I  Ray LaMontagne. If it's not him, I  whoever this guy is. 4. This one's more upbeat... "it's much too late to talk the knife out of their hands..." I like this one. 5. A female vocalist. Don't know this one either. Her voice is pretty and rough at the same time. has kind of a haunting sound. Like. Like the melody. 6. Is this Keane? I *think* it sounds like them, though if it is, it's off of one of the last two albums, because I don't know it. :) I do like, though. Has much more guitar and drums than previous songs. 7. Starts with piano... which is almost always a good thing for me! :) Vocals feel a bit familiar, but I don't think I've heard this band before. "...when you're homesick, give me your hand and I'll hold it...." Like this one, too. 8. This is David Gray. I tend to like David Gray, even though I don't own any of his stuff. 9. Drums, and understated male vocals. "...nothing gives me pleasure like you do..." Not bad. Not my favorite, but definitely not bad. 10. Do I hear accents? I can't tell. I definitely haven't heard this before. It's OK. 11. This song starts off sounding like Editors or some similar group. Driving beat. Like the instrumentation. Female vocals are a little jarring at first. This one has grown on me. I didn't like it much when I first heard it, but the more I listen, the more I'm liking it. 12. back to acoustic guitar and a sweet, but imperfect voice. "... you can blow my mind so easily". Lovely. 13. I really like the mood and sound of this one. It's a quiet way to end the tape, but I think it's probably one of my favorites on here. :) Though, it ends kind of abruptly, and what's the xylophone doing at the end? Thank you, Mixtape Maker! I didn't know a single song, which means I've been exposed to a lot of new music! Overall, it was stuff that I haven't heard, but that falls into line with the type of music I like. I'm anxious to see the tracklisting! Thanks again, and I apologize for the delay in my review!
