I agree with pretty much all of this. I actually quite like when Chris sings in his lower register. I know I'm probably one of the few, but I almost prefer it to the falsetto. I think that last bit is exactly right. A Christmas single is meant to appeal to a huge range of people, not just fans... so in that vein, it kind of has to be simple, catchy and easily relateable, like Briggins said. I think that's kind of harsh. Personally, to me, the worst you can say about it is it's bland or unmemorable (which for me, isn't the case). To rate as "unlistenable", I'd think it'd have to be offensive or just plain lacking in any musical merit. It at least has a pretty melody and I think the piano part is lovely.

hey guys, looks like vevo just blocked it for everyone. Must have been accidentally released early... cause now I'm getting a "We're sorry, this video won't be released until 3PM EST.

My kids are 5 and 3, too! I have a 5 year old daughter and a 3 yo son. As for husbands coping with my Coldplay obsession, mine does pretty well. I basically get a lot of teasing. But he did make me a VIVA themed birthday cake last year. :) My husband and I have already decided we're going to try to take ours (at least my daughter) to a show on the next tour. My kids really truly love Coldplay. At 18 months, "Viva la Vida" was one of only a few phrases my son could say! I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I played that song and album constantly! :D

I feel exactly the same way. I know very, very few people my age (34) who are as into music as I am. This has been a great place to have an outlet for my Coldplay obsession, and to learn about new music, too! :laugh3: That might be helpful in real life, too! btw, someone mentioned having started a thread for parents... I guess I never saw that one. I would have joined in. :nice:
