  1. Ohhh, I just saw this on twitter. So excited, but it is SO HARD to get tickets to these tapings!
  2. via twitter and fb: Video premiere of Called Out in The Dark Wednesday, 17 Aug at 10 AM (GMT). Get ready for Dancing Gary!!   and also, THIS
  3. Hey everyone! Just saw on tumblr that you can listen to snippets of the songs that'll be included on the EP on amazon UK... can't seem to get the link to work (it's been a while since I've been here, and apparently I've forgotten how everything works.) Just look up called out in the dark on amazon UK.
  4. Hi everyone! Thanks for the scans of the Q article. It's great to read that the album will be here soon! Can't wait to hear it.
  5. Hmm... it's definitely within walking distance, but it's a long walk. With the combo of the heat and the fact that you'll be walking/standing all day, you'd probably be better off taking a cab. The official ACL shuttle probably would be more trouble for you than a cab, because you'd really be going out of your way to get to it. But the hotel might even do some sort of shuttle out to the park... it's worth checking out! Oh, and as for other things to check out, I can't believe I forgot to mention South Congress (SoCo). Lots of great shopping (ranging from quirky to boutique) and great restaurants, too (esp. Guero's and El Sol y La Luna).
  6. ^Hmmm... there's a ton to do! You should definitely try to check out Barton Springs Pool- it's a natural, spring fed swimming pool. Very cool. (though, it's directly across the street from Zilker Park, so I'm not sure if it will be impossible to get into that weekend). You can also watch the bats come out in the evening at the Congress Street bridge (over LadyBird Lake). There are tons of great restaurants on Barton Springs (just down from Zilker Park). Up at 6th and Lamar is another great shopping/eating area, and the big awesome Whole Foods is there, too. If you're interested in seeing more music, check out the schedule for The Parish. It's on 6th street and is a really cool, small venue. There will also be ACL aftershows going on all weekend... I think they're supposed to be announced a little closer to the date. The W Hotel is the newest hot spot in town- a cool place to hang out, get a drink and people watch. There's also a lot of boutique shopping in that area. I'll keep thinking about it and try to come up with more restaurant/activity suggestions!
  7. Yeah, Muse v. Coldplay would be pretty brutal. Glad I didn't have to make that decision, esp. if I'd gone with the friend I'm going to ACL with. Her favorite band is Muse; mine's Coldplay! Austin is an amazing city! Will you be here for the whole weekend, or just Friday? It'd be awesome if they'd play a little longer than their allotted time. But, Stevie Wonder does have a few decades worth of material more than them! ;)
  8. That's true... but last year Phish played the main stage over The Strokes, so who knows how they determine that. It does look like a lot of people on fb are pissed that they're going to have to choose between kanye and coldplay.
  9. ^Cool. I'm very tempted to do that, but I also really wanted to see Foster the People. I'll probably just end up camping all day, too anyway! :P
  10. ^Yeah, festival sets are usually not full-length. :( What are you guys planning to do? Will you camp out at the Coldplay stage all day or go see other acts then get there early?
  11. I've only had a chance to watch the vids of the new songs, but I am so impressed with everything: the songs themselves, the light show, even the costumes, which I was initially not loving. And I've realized how much I missed Coldplay! Am so excited for the new album and am so glad I'll get a chance to see them on their festival run!
  12. Yep. Hate to say it guys, but they've been considered "pop" for a while now. Yes, there is some crappy pop music, but it doesn't have to be!
  13. This is the Austin City Limits Music Festival. The one in the tv studio is "Austin City Limits". The fest is put on once a year. The show tapes throughout the fall. Typically, artists who appear at the fest do record an ep of Austin City Limits, which is what Coldplay did in 2005. They played the festival, then recorded an episode of the show, which aired later. :)
  14. I completely agree. I'm excited to see what this all turns into. I can't begin to speculate about what it will sound like, but I'm hopeful. Coldplay really haven't let me down so far.
  15. I'd love it if we did get new material, but to keep from being disappointed, I'm going in with the expectation of NOT getting anything new. Unless, of course, something big happens between now and then!
  16. Another good resource if you're looking to buy tickets from someone is ACL's facebook page (It's under "Austin City Limits Music Festival"). There've been some people offering theirs up on there, too, and will probably be more as the fest gets closer.
  17. to everyone who's waiting to buy tickets later on... just wanted to let you know I heard this afternoon that Friday tickets sold out in record time. I don't know how that will effect what's available in August/Sept, but to be safe you might want to check ebay etc. regularly (starting now!) to see if there are any reasonable ones available!
  18. @Ivet- it'll be through brokers or ticket holders who decided to sell theirs. Just to keep in mind when buying from someone- Three-day passes face value (non VIP) were $185. Single day are $90. Most will mark up a bit, but some people are really bad about it. You might want to decide how much you're willing to spend, and buy them as soon as you find some that meet the criteria! Good luck!
  19. Marcus, you should be able to get tickets closer to the day if you want them. Last year I hadn't gotten tickets yet and there were a ton on sale the week before. Some will be ridiculously overpriced, but you should be able to find people who are asking a more reasonable amt, esp. as they get desperate to sell.
  20. Listen to Angie, I live here, but I don't know much about the hotel situation! She's done it before.. I'm sure she knows what she's talking about!
  21. Pretty much any hotel you can get into downtown should be good. You'll likely take the shuttle bus from Republic Square Park to Zilker. Just make sure you're west of I-35. I can't vouch for the quality of all of them, but you hopefully can find something not too expensive.
  22. Ivet, I think there are a ton on Austin's craigslist right now. They might be ridiculously expensive though. If you're willing to take a little bit of a chance, you can almost definitely get them in the week prior to the festival, and often for not much above face.
  23. @Angie- Cool...and even better that you can space out the cost of the two!
  24. Aww! Love those pics! That was the first time I saw them live. Granted, all I saw was the video screen from about half a mile away, but I still loved it!
