  1. ANGIE! That's awesome you got that video! The cameras didn't follow him back, so we had no idea what he was doing! I seem to recall him climbing some scaffolding at the 2005 performance, too.... crazy man!
  2. ^This. Also, remember she didn't write the review just for hardcore Coldplay fans like us. The typical music blog reader would have little to no knowledge of the new songs that haven't been released that we're already really familiar with (like Major Minus and UATW). Hell, I'd bet not many Coldplay fans know about them... not all fans are as involved as people on this forum.
  3. Great review... thanks! Just wondering if the guys were there at all, like it was implied in the contests...? At any rate, can't wait to hear the album!
  4. Dianne, FANTASTIC pictures! Mine are crap, but I'll see if I can find some good ones to post. Also, a review, at some point! SO fun meeting you and getting to hang out with you this weekend!
  5. jenflor replied to Pris's topic in Coldplay
here's another from ACL Live soundcheck tweet by ACL
  6. I just realized I have Amanda's #, too. Yes, I think I'm going to be able to meet up tonight, but probably not til around 6. Will get my butt down there as soon as I can!
  7. does someone have your number, Amanda? EDIT: nevermind, Amanda... i just saw your PM! :) Holy crap! That's insane!:dance:
  8. Rene, PM me your number, I'll PM you with mine. I'm Jen, btw. :nice: If you want to see them from the front, your best bet is to get there as early as you can and hang out. You could get pretty close up by just worming your way through the crowd as the afternoon goes on, but there will be people there from the beginning who stake out spots. See you soon, Susan!
  9. I think I can be there by 10, at the latest 10:30. The best place to meet is probably right outside the front gate. There's a big sign the the right of it, usually... that might be a good place. The shuttles will drop off right in front of the park, so it would be out of our way to meet away from the park. I think I can probably also get away tomorrow night. Here's a link to some cool places right in the ACL theater area (it's located at the W Hotel on 2nd street). I'll let you guys know. Cru and Malaga are great places for hanging out and getting some wine. A few things to remember as you're packing: sunscreen! hat a scarf or bandana in case of dust (in 2005, the last time Coldplay played ACL, there was a TREMENDOUS amount of dust that made breathing difficult) You can bring 2 unopened water bottles in, AND an empty refillable container (they have water stations throughout) I'll be on and off today; trying to get this house together so I don't feel too bad about abandoning my husband all weekend!
  10. Sorry, none of the regulars here got passes. I'm in Austin, too... are you going to ACL fest?
  11. good. I'm super short. Maybe I can use you guys as shields! See, I think we're in really good shape: Asleep at the Wheel (prob won't have a huge crowd of rowdy teenagers), Brandi Carlile (same), Ray LaMontagne (big crowd, but mellow hopefully), Bright Eyes (big crowd, possibly rowdy). Much more mellow line up than that at Lolla!
  12. Lauren, what was the line-up before Coldplay at Lolla?
  13. ^^that Jennifer's not me :( Ohhhh, this sucks! But I'm with you, Dianne. Now 100% resolved to be in front.
  14. Congrats, Dianne! Arcade Fire will be incredible! This from twitter: .@acltv ticket winners for @HeadandtheHeart @ArcadeFire @GomeztheBand have all been announced. Still to come are @Coldplay & Randy Newman.
  15. ^Hi, Amanda, I'm Jen :nice: I know they always hold a good chunk of passes back, and they're given out to various corps, etc. The company my friend works for has a partnership with Coca-Cola and her office was given 15 passes for employees.
  16. I completely agree, Dianne. I personally like it a lot. I think it's really sad that the discussion around it has devolved into a really stupid back and forth. If you like it, your a mindless fangirl, if you don't, you're a "true fan". Such BS. People need to remember: It's an effing song. It's not going to affect the state of the world. Like or don't and for the love of chris martin, move on! edit: and sorry, no I don't know if they overbook or anything. It might not be a bad idea to just show up anyway, regardless of whether or not we get passes.
  17. Quite liking this interpretation, as well as that in the original post.
  18. ^^But the point is, other people who REALLY WANT TO GO now can't because those tickets were given to you. Doesn't matter if there will be "dozens of others".
  19. Just wanted to say I love this post. I love Coldplay, but not blindly. They do some stuff I LOVE and some stuff I tolerate. I completely agree with what you said about them having always been mainstream and the reaction to the new songs in general, and especially about trying to assume we have any insight into the band's motives or inspirations. Just wanted to say thanks for putting what I've been thinking into writing.
