But his point, put more bluntly is: you may not be morally okay with it if people who were raped get an abortion, but you think they should be able to in law. Thus making you personally pro-life but politically pro-choice. Right?

Oh haha, I went through a period of doing that, finally managed to break it though. I'm impressed by how much the forum has managed to change the way I act in real life, I don't think it really changed "me" per se but it has affected social interaction etc.

Nah it basically makes sense, over the internet almost all social inhibitions can be released if you feel like it, anonymity and, on messageboards, the delayed reactions between communications (wherein you can think) can completely change the way you act toward people, either people only let that kind of thing loose online and keep it locked up irl or they get so used to it their internet personality starts rubbing off on their "real-life" personality, for better or for worse. Then again you could have meant something entirely different, in which case yah you need explaining lessons :lol:

And another thing, the so-called "pro-choice" side of the argument is not even "ZOMG PRO ABORTION PRO MURDERRR" that so-called "pro-lifers" make it out to be... quite simply it is the belief that YOU make YOUR choice based on YOUR morals and let OTHER people make THEIR choices based on THEIR morals. Simple as that. "Pro-choice" is not telling other women what to do with their uterus, "pro-life" is almost always a personal thing, unless you're one of those hardcore idiots who kill abortion doctors. Yeah my morals are pretty damn cruel by most standards, I realize most people tend to think of newborn babies as real people or what have you but I'm not saying everybody should get abortions or anything like that, just what I personally believe. Whereas a lot of pro-lifers I know (and I really know a LOT of them, almost my whole swim team is conservative and Catholic and utterly brainwashed by their parents) are in favor of FORCING people to not go through with abortions... which just boggles my mind.

Yeah well to be honest, babies are parasites... have you ever heard of ectopic pregnancies? The truth of the matter is one it's conceived the baby will do anything to keep itself alive, in some ectopic pregnancies (it's rare though) the baby falls through the uterus and lives off the food in the mother's stomach, even to the point of killing the mother -- let me tell you it is NOT pretty for the mother. Fetuses are basically parasites, babies essentially are parasites in utero, yes it is how human life starts but that's just how it is. To me they are just so undeveloped, particularly early in the pregnancy -- they have no perception of the world, no understanding, thought, whatever you consider that makes people people. Yes it's cruel and harsh, but think of how overpopulated the world is and how shit most peoples' lives are anyway... abortions have to exist, in my opinion.

A baby isn't a punishment though! It isn't like "you made a stupid choice, now we're going to punish you by making you deal with the CONSEQUENCES of having a baby" -- how messed up is that? As for the collection of cells argument, yeah it's human life, but the woman's nurturing it, it's basically sucking as much energy as it can get out of her, thinking she doesn't have the right to do what she wants with something that lives inside her own body sucking nutrients out of actually seems wrong to me. Sure it would one day turn into a conscious human being... but dude, certainly right after conception it isn't, and if you abort it it just... wouldn't develop. I just don't get the so called "PRO-LIFE" argument... if you don't want to abort your kid fine, but let other people do what they want with their lives. Banning abortions just would mean people would go to midwifes and get basically get old coathangers stuck up their uteruses for abortions anyway -- that's sick. I just never understood the whole argument surrounding this issue. edit: Yeah that's what I meant, you don't use a baby as a way to punish idiots.

When I'm in a bad mood and people hold doors for me sometimes I don't thank them and I feel guilty about it for literally hours. You can really bring a smile to people's face just by giving them a really nice grin or something, especially old people because they have no faith in teenagers. Unless they're just being dicks and you're all like :D and they're all like :blank:, that makes me really sad

There's a gargantuan overpopulation crisis in the process of getting worse, etc etc etc. Especially early into the term, the aborted baby is just a collection of cells that in no way resembles a baby anyway... in fact I would go so far to say as newborn babies, even, don't seem terribly alert and conscious of the world to me anyway, and you can't just draw a line of where consciousness starts anyway, so yeah, basically I think you should be able to do what you want with your uterus. Just condoms and pills are better.
