LGBT thread
Actually, a little less than half of the US consists of fundamentalists, so no, I'm not overestimating things at all. I'd also like to mention that I speak as a person from the southern US, where religion is particularly important. You try taking religion away from people down here and see what happens. ETA: In case of misunderstanding, I'd like to clarify that I agree with the sentiment that religion is harmful, and I'm an atheist. I'm not suggesting that I would be one of the people to go crazy if you took Jesus away or anything like that.

Yeah, I like "Draw My Thing."

While I understand the sentiment, I don't think the idea is very practical, especially not in the world we live in as we know it. Repressing something is only going to make people rebel and go forth with what they do even more strongly. I think this is particularly true here in the States, where religion is SUCH a big deal. If you tried taking that away, it would just anger people and cause more trouble than it's really worth.

I'm actually much more familiar with the podcasts than anything else. I've only seen snippets of the animation.

Colour blindness
OMG YES. Actually, this reminds me of a discussion they did have about how they were curing blindness in mice and how they could maybe do that with humans within 10-15 years or something. Karl ended up ranting about how he wouldn't want that because testing stuff on "mice's eyes" wouldn't be appealing to people. Ohhh, Karl.

Colour blindness
I took this test now. It made my brain hurt. Really, the colors started to blur together to the point where I couldn't tell what I was doing anymore. That being said, I scored an 8, which is pretty cool. :awesome:

Colour blindness
I don't think I have either of those things, but this thread does remind me of a story a professor once told me. The professor in question is extremely color blind. (He said his parents knew something was wrong when he mentioned to them that the neighbor's dog was green.) Anyway, in between stints of college, he went to go work at some textile factory or something, and one of the tests they have the employees do is to sort these squares of fabric (which were basically the same color) by shade. He explained to the person doing this test that he was color blind, but the person insisted that he just go ahead and do the test, anyway. What ended up happening is that, despite his color blindness, he ended up getting an exceptionally high score on this test, and they ended up hiring him as the head of color quality control or some position like that. Yeah, I thought that was pretty cool.

Yeah, I still have my OMGPop account and everything. I'm not quite sure how the site will work with my desktop, though, so my presence on that site this weekend is dependent on how nice OMGPop decides to be to me.

Getting to know you (The Cping interviews)
So I actually took a bit of my time today to listen to a bit of each of the completed interviews. It's so nice seeing and hearing all of you, and you seem so nice. :wacky: As a weird and completely irrelevant aside, none of you sounded like I imagined you to sound before I heard you.

2013 Upcoming releases.
Here are a few I've heard about recently. I'll try not to repeat what's already been said in here, but if I do, it's whatever. ♦ "Harlequin Dream"-Boy & Bear (August 16) ♦ "Flourish // Perish"-Braids (August 20) ♦ "The Electric Lady"-Janelle Monáe (September 10) ♦ "Trouble"-Natalia Kills (September 3) ♦ "The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You"-Neko Case (September 3) ...Oh yeah. I almost forgot about the new Arcade Fire record that'll be out just before Halloween. AAAAAAAH! Yeah, this year is shaping up quite nicely. :cheesy:

I personally wouldn't be opposed to answering 20+ questions, but I totally get why most other people would be.

I'm not against going out of my comfort zone. I'm simply telling my partner how it is. You do bring up a point I want to emphasize to my partner, though. While there are things I don't like, I'm pretty broad-minded, and I'll listen to anything at least once. Feel free to go as much outside the box with this as you wish. It could actually be really cool in the sense of me exploring things I don't quite know so well and could remove any preconceived notions I might have of certain genres or artists. What you do is ultimately your decision, and I'll appreciate your effort no matter what you do. :nice: It really depends on who your partner is. Not that this really helps you, as you're really sorta new to the forum in itself, let alone the exchange. It's the best answer to your question, though. I know I personally LOVE the long tapes with a lot of tracks on them, but there are some who don't. I remember someone who specifically requested that her partner make her tape no longer than 50 minutes because she said she couldn't listen to much more than that in one sitting and would probably get bored. Unless your partner posts in the thread that he/she would rather not have a long tape, I suggest you go with your gut and share what you want.

I've just seen my PM. Oh man, hahahaha. This'll be interesting. As for my taste, my Last.fm is in my sig down below with my Facebook and other things. It's not really so accurate anymore (as I haven't really used it in ages), but it's a start. I've been getting into a bit of electronic lately (Bonobo is a particular favorite), so anything along those lines would be fine. I've also been listening to a bit more classic rock than I have in the past, most of which has been Queen. It'll probably be also helpful to you if I share what I don't like. Country is not a genre I really appreciate in any sense, and I've only found one musical that I enjoy. My scope of hip-hop is also pretty limited, mostly because of some of the degrading content that some like to use. I could get into the ones who rap more about society and such, though, so if you could broaden my mind on that, it might be cool. Finally, I'm kinda picky when it comes to vocals, so if there's a question of whether I might like someone's voice or not, it's probably safer to not put that on the tape. I hope this helps. I can't wait to hear your tape! :nice:

I really would like to ask questions, but I never really know what to ask.
