Nah, that's fine. It's 1 am here, so I really should be in bed myself. Meh. It happens.

Bon Iver
I love the first album. That's probably part of why I don't like LP2 so much. They're so different. Some people like LP2 more, which is fine. I think I remember an earlier post in this thread from someone about how "For Emma" was "emotionally exhausting" for them, and so this was better in that aspect. I have the opposite mentality; I love music that has that kind of emotion, so when I didn't find so much of it in "Bon Iver," I was kinda disappointed.

Yeah, it's not their fault at all. They're just doing their job as musicians, which is to entertain us and make a living doing something they love to do. This whole thing shows how hype can be a double-edged sword.

Bon Iver
That's understandable.

Polaris Music Prize 2011
I think either way, there are going to be problems. Should Arcade Fire lose, you'll have people outraged because "The Suburbs" is such a quality album and should've won. If the award is given to Arcade Fire, you'll have people whining about how they've won so much already and how someone else should've been given a shot. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Should it? No. Do some people still consider that anyway? Yes.

Schweet. That's good enough reason for me to watch it. Whether I actually do or not is a different story. I'm not a huge movie watcher, for whatever reason.

But they said I could only pick one... -sniffle-

Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of it. Heh. I still have it, though. It's funny that you bring up Regine, as she was the reason I got into Arcade Fire in the first place. I listened to "Haiti" on a mixtape and enjoyed it. (I didn't know beforehand that she sang.) Alas, I haven't seen them live. Or any modern artist, for that matter. :bigcry: I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. :D See, that's the whole point, Briggs. It's not fun watching one artist, as you said, "dominate the awards." I know the awards aren't really about what's fun, so much as what's good. I have nothing against Arcade Fire or "The Suburbs" (I did, after all, rank it #2 in my AOTY list last year). Still, "The Suburbs" has been out so much longer than the other albums, and it has won so many awards. Honestly, because of that, I think Arcade Fire has an unfair advantage.

God, I don't even know. :bigcry:

Feist
It is rather nice. It surprises me that I say that, given my severe distaste for yellow, but it's very autumnal, which is great.

"The Suburbs" was what really got me into Arcade Fire hardcore. It really appealed to me in a way that the other two couldn't. Some of it had to do with the fact that I felt Win's vocals sounded so much better on that record. It's not that Win's voice is bad before that, but in the earlier records, I found that it was more of an acquired taste for me. (I still really dislike "Crown of Love" due to the vocals. No lie.) It was also just more accessible for me. Honestly, it helped me appreciate them more as a whole. I got so much more into the other two albums after listening to "The Suburbs" because I felt like I had a better understanding of them-or something. I'm not really sure what I mean at this point.

I'm an avid classical music listener. I think I can handle the long songs. But yeah, sure, if I find something I like, I'll PM you and let you know.

Yes, and consequently, any time I ever see Four Tet mentioned, I automatically get "Love Cry" stuck in my head. Hence, my request for Eddie to educate me of Four Tet.

^ I just went and read a bit of that. Wow. They took that waaaaay too personally. ...Wait. I just remembered. That was the same person who called you an "ignoramous." (I also remembered they misspelled "ignoramus.")

Hey Eddie, if you ever get me for a mixtape partner, fill it with Four Tet. OK? OK.

Ehhhhh. I'm glad you mentioned that third wave tends to be repetitive. I tend not to be a fan of things that are overly repetitive. I can be, but it has to be done properly. Otherwise, I get bored. I did get an EitS on a mixtape once; although it was a bit long for an opener, I thought it was pretty good. I do know Broken Social Scene, although I don't listen to them as much as I probably should. I'll take another look into their catalogue. I did use "Pitter Patter Goes My Heart" as a mixtape intro once. (It's so pretty.) I've also heard a couple of songs from The Album Leaf. I'll have to make sure to look into that some time. It's so hard keeping up with things you really want to listen to. I have a list of things that just keeps growing and growing, and even though I mean to check out certain things, I somehow forget. I think you've given me a good starting place. Thanks so much! :D

Criminal Minds
Oh hi there, Hope! :nice: A lot of us here (if not all of us, now that I think about it) are Reid girls, so you'll fit right in here. As for the episode you're referring to...maybe I've seen it? I'm not sure. Oh, and I love your avatar, as I completely agree with it.

I really need to listen to more post-rock in general. I don't have a whole lot. Do you have any suggestions other than EitS that I should definitely look into?

Polaris Music Prize 2011
Oh yeah? That sounds neat. :D Well, no. We were only saying that it'd be nice to see an equally solid album win, which I believe we have in the shortlist.

OOOH, a personal recommendation from Briggins. I'm flattered. Mkay. I'll put it on my list of things to look into. :nice: Yeah, true. :\
