  1. I think I may cry now. Yes, that sounds like a plan. :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:
  2. Your dad is one of the coolest dads ever. My parents don't think it's noisy, so much as that it's just shit. :| Well, not that they use that particular term, but that's pretty much the jist of it. WTF YOU GOT IN FRONT OF CHRIS? ASODFJSADKNBGAHPSIADJRAGIASNDFDA I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU RIGHT NOW IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. ...Sorry. My inner Wolstenfan got in the way. :shame: But I'm still jealous of you. Ewww. Creeper got his creep on. :anxious: At least nothing worse happened.
  3. Done. :nice: Also, while I'm thinking about it, could a mod please unsticky the previous mixtape thread and replace the sticky with this one? That'd be great. Thanks.
  4. This isn't directly Radiohead related, but I thought I'd post it here. New Philip Selway EP out Monday
  5. It's not love that hurts people; it's the lack of love. Good job. It'll happen at some point, I'm sure. It's also good to know you're such a good friend, with you being there to support them emotionally in their time of distress. Fanboy.
  6. OOOH, IAN. TEXT TWIST. PLEASE. I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.
  7. Well, after much discussion, it's been decided that now's the time for Mixtape Exchange #10! I feel like this should be some kind of special anniversary exchange or something...although, y'know, it's not really an anniversary sort of thing. But anyway... So it's been a few months a short while since the last mixtape exchange, and it's now time for Mixtape Exchange #10! Previous mixtape exchanges have been hosted by Ms. Magpie, Redgirl76, David, The Escapist, ivet, ceolsige, and the_gloaming09. The Coldplaying Mixtape Exchange is a fun way to discover new music while also giving you the chance to share music that you enjoy with other Coldplayers. Basically what happens is that you'll be given the name of the person who you will be making your mixtape for, and all you have to do is get together some songs that you really like, that go well together, and/or that your partner has most likely never heard before; but you must not let anyone know who you're making your mixtape for, and your partner must not know what exactly he or she is listening to - it has to be a surprise! After your partner reviews your mixtape, you will then get to reveal yourself and the tracklisting. You will of course be receiving a mixtape to review as well! And to make things simpler, here is the list of rules copied from RedGirl76 and previous exchanges. RULES: 1. Sign up saying you want to participate - leave your name on the thread or PM me directly. 2. When the deadline for signing up is over, you'll get a PM from me giving you the name of another participant in the Exchange. You will be making a mix for this person, whoever they may be. 3. You mustn't reveal who you are making the mix for. 4. Make your mix-tape (average length is around 50-70 minutes) and delete the info for each song. 5. Upload the mix-tape to something like rapidshare and send me the link and a tracklisting. I will then send it to person assigned to you, keeping your identity a secret of course! - if you're able to, and this makes it way simpler for everyone, put your music files in a .zip or .rar. You can download winrar (64bit / 32bit) to do this 6. When you receive a mix-tape, listen to it, write a review and post it in this thread. 7. The person who made the mix-tape will then post the track-list and the link so everybody can download it. Simple as that. 8. At the end, I will link all the tapes, tracklistings and reviews to the first page so everyone can download them. Note: Please make sure before you sign up that you're actually going be able to follow through on this, or at least let me know before the deadline ends if you're going to be too busy to participate and you need your name taken off of the list. In past mixtape exchanges, several people never received mixtapes or reviews because their mixtaper/mixtapee never bothered to go through with it, and that's pretty inconsiderate to those who worked hard to make a mixtape and never got anything in return. Mixtape exchanges only happen a couple times a year so they're to be taken pretty srsly. DEADLINES: Sign-up: Monday, August 1 at 12 am CST (GMT -6) Mixtapes: Monday, August 8 at 5 pm CST (GMT -6) The Song Information Deletion Tutorial OK. Here's what you do. 1. Find the tracks you plan on putting on your mixtape, and copy-and-paste them to a new folder, away from all the other stuff. You can either right-click and find "copy" and "paste," or you can use the shortcuts (Ctrl + C for copy and Ctrl + V for paste). 2. Once you've done that, go track by track, right-click, choose "Properties," and clear everything. Remember to change track numbers if you have a specific order (and almost everyone does, so...yeah). Also, it's helpful to name your album, even if it's something as simple as "mixtape." If you want, you can fill in the blank spots with fake information to add a personal touch to the mix. Once you've done all that, click OK. You'll have to do this separately with each track. 3. Move that folder into your iTunes library by clicking and dragging it into iTunes when it's open, and go through the tracks one by one and double-check everything. Typically, the one thing that usually needs to be altered if anything is the album art. In that case, just select your entire mixtape (either by going under "Edit" and choosing "Select all" or just typing your mixtape name and using Ctrl + A), right-click on it, choose "Get Info," and clear all of it using the options in that menu. 4. Compress your mixtape into a .zip or .rar, upload, and give the link to the head of the exchange. The host for this exchange is violetsparks. Mixtapes will be sent out ASAP, probably in the following couple of days. Like the previous exchange, this will probably be a smaller sort of thing. I figured giving everyone until the end of the month would be a sufficient amount of time to give for people to sign-up. I kept the week time-frame set by Mike, as it didn't seem to cause any sort of problems that weren't there already. If there are any questions/concerns about the exchange, please talk to me about them, either through this thread or by PM. I'm willing to be nice to people about the tapes if they're a tad late. I understand that things happen. I ended up being late last time for the first time ever because my computer was being stupid. Things happen. However, if after a week I don't have tapes from people, I will start naming and shaming you. Also, I'm going to talk to a few of the other exchange hosts, and if I find out you have previously signed up for an exchange and not submitted a tape like you should have, you will be banned from participating in this exchange. I'm sure you all understand that making a mixtape takes time and effort. It isn't fair for people who turned their tapes in on time to not get one. Just please get your stuff together, people. 8. I'm going to wait until morning to post anything about MTE 10 to make sure it's not going to be a big issue. If I visit this thread tomorrow morning, and there aren't any complaints, I'm going to assume this means everyone's OK with me hosting the exchange, and I'll post details first thing. If that does happen, I'll probably message one of the previous hosts to make sure I know what I'm doing. Haha.

    THIS. It's so true.
  10. Keep calm and carry on. That's what you do.

AHA. It's funny because it's TRUE. :disappointed: But yeah, join a group. Those always help. If it weren't for band, I'm pretty sure high school would have been at least 10x worse than it was.
  12. Says the person who got to see The National at Latitude. :snobby:
  13. Since there haven't been any "No" responses, here's what might be good. The 10th MTE thread could be posted this evening, and we could give everyone until the end of the month to sign up. Then, we can use the first week of August for mix-making purposes, setting the deadline for the 8th. I say "we" because a head of the exchange hasn't been appointed yet. I personally would very much like to run one, but if anyone has any other nominations, I'm open to those.
  14. Not that this is the right thread for it, but who are the Polaris finalists?
  15. Violet replied to ilovechriss's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, I know what you mean. I still run into that problem sometimes. In cases like that, you just have to try to think of something to keep the conversation going. Just talk about basic things about yourself-bio, likes and dislikes, that sort of thing. If the person is compatible with you, I'm sure you'll find something to talk about.

The only way you're going to be able to gain social skills and, in turn, confidence, is to just go out and do it. Sure, it's hard at first, but things get easier over time. A lot of the times, we are our own worst critic. We think negative things of ourselves that people don't even notice in us. People are more accepting than you think they are. You just have to have faith in that. You'll never know if people are interested in what you have to say if you don't say anything. In fact, you might find people who are actually highly interested and have the same interests as you do. However, you can't know for sure if you don't talk to people. Just try it. It's not ever as bad as it seems.
  17. This thread is just I don't know I can't even

  19. OK, so that's 4 who say "Yes" so far. Awesome.
  20. OK, so it's not just me. Cool. /phew.
  21. If we can get a good amount of people to say they're ready, then sure, we can go for it.
  22. Eddie... :wtf:
