I don't know, though, if that means Coldplay will stick to exploring a bit of their older sound again. I mean, this is a one-off single for a soundtrack. I think they may have decided to go back to this for the soundtrack because their older sound fits the vibe of the movie a lot better than the MX-era sound. We'll have to wait and see what they do for LP6 before we can find out what they're doing as a whole in terms of sound. Coldplay going back to their roots certainly isn't impossible, however; Keane went that route with their latest album.

Do I hear that there are reviews still missing? D: I'd be willing to take a listen if the maker would allow me to do so.

Translation: "I'm a blind fangirl who will defend Coldplay at any cost, and I don't care if people refer to me as such because it's true." Attitudes like this annoy me so much, particularly in threads like this where you're supposed to attempt at least SOME sort of objectivity. I mean, I know I'm on a Coldplay forum, but damn.

Well, sure. I'm sure a lot of us have taken breaks from here over time. I've had my fair share of days when I just quickly drop in and check a few things before I leave without saying anything. It's all relative to what's going on in your personal life and the amount of attachment you have to the forum and the people in it, among other things. If you feel like you need a break, then by all means take one. We'll all understand. :nice:

Listen, James. I've been around here for over 4 1/2 years now. This coming February will make 5. I don't say nearly as much now as I used to. (I was much more of a spammer back in those days.) I don't know if it's necessarily like this for you, but for me, the big reason I stick around is the sense of community this forum has. I've met some wonderful people through this forum, and while some have left, some have stayed, and others have arrived. I guess, in a way, this forum is as close to an Internet home as it gets, and once you find home, it's a place you never truly leave.

Well, here's what I think of it. I like that this is a piano-based song, as I'm a sucker for piano. Chris' vocals are a bit weak in the first line; when he sings "saw," it sounds like he hit the note, realized he did it wrong, and decided to fix it. I enjoy the chord progression. I don't think the song really starts to pick up, though, until the first chorus when Chris starts singing "Carry your world." I love the booming sounds and the tinkling synths that take place, and Chris sounds great. I think it was smart to add the rhythmic cymbals in the second verse; it gives the song the impression that it's driving forward, which I think is exactly what the listener wants at this point. (Or maybe that's just me. :shrug:) The second chorus is a great climax point, with the addition of guitar and the use of bass drum. Jonny's guitar riffs suit the song quite well, and they're probably some of my favorite bits in the song. I love the use of strings at the very end, although I could've done without Chris' last falsetto note. Overall, I quite like it. It reminds me of "Daylight," which to me is an underrated Coldplay song. It's definitely a step up from MX, at least from a purely audio perspective. The song isn't lyrically strong by any means, but I think the music helped dress them up a bit in a way that allowed me to not think of them so much. This could change with further listens, but at this point, I think I'd give it about a 7.5.

I came into this thread specifically to ask about the Neko Case record. I've only heard the single, which I really like. Is the rest of the album along those lines?
