  1. Oh and I'm totally downloading your mix now Violet (I was going to anyway) to complete the triangle
  2. Hi Andy! :awesome: I really like that fact that you included a lot of music local to your area (I'm going to take a stab here and guess you're from Adelaide? :P). One of the things I like about doing these exchanges is that most people on here don't know much Australian music so I exploit that as much as I can, but sadly you couldn't do that :P I had heard a of a few of those artists, like Kings of Convenience and Thirteen Senses that I'd been meaning to give a listen, so thanks for introducing me to them! Lifehouse! I knew I recognised them! And I actually didn't know that about Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin :P I guess I'm not enough of a fan of those bands to know that :D If there are any albums in particular you'd recommend I listen to, I'd love to give them a go. I'll definitely be looking more into Special Patrol, Kings of Convenience and Thirteen Senses. Thanks again! :awesome: Ahahahaha, that's awesome! Mixtape triangle ftw :awesome:
  3. Yep. A month's not that long. Eat nothing but vegetables for 6 months?
  4. Ew, no. Would you lick the bottom of someone's shoe right after they walked down the busiest street in New York?
  5. That I had over 10,000 songs on my iTunes. But also that I need to delete quite a few of those.
  6. sleeeeeeping. And eating chocolate. It is easter after all.
  7. Violet, how you know everything???? :bomb:
  8. Nice mixtapes guys! :bomb:
  9. Mixtape maker: I'm REALLY sorry I'm so late, but finally, here's my review! Track 01: (Spanish?) Guitars, some bongo drums and some kinda eerie synths start this track off before the electric guitar kicks in. A nice, chilled out instrumental, good track for the intro. Track 02: I recognise it from the first note: Too Late by Evermore. Great band, great song! I used to love this song and it’s ages since I listened to it, so it was a nice surprise to find it in here. Track 03: I’ll admit, I found this track more than a little amusing, with it’s grim, almost gospel-choir-like singing underlying an otherwise pretty light-sounding song. Nice female vocals. It kinda sounds like it belongs to the soundtrack for a movie or a game. I think this one will take a little while to grow on me :P Track 04: Cute little rock song, the vocalist sounds a little familiar but I can’t pick who it is. Nothing particularly outstanding about this track but at the same time there’s certainly nothing wrong with it either! Track 05: Another rock song, I like this one quite a bit more. Heavy, distorted guitars mixed in with piano, a few male vocals and even some strings (I love strings :awesome:). I couldn't help tapping my feet along to this one, I’m quite interested to see who this is! Track 06: Acoustic guitars, trumpets (or some sort of horn, I don’t know). It starts off slow, then stops for a second and then everything kicks in at once, along with some vocals. I really enjoy this type of song, I definitely need to listen to this sort of stuff more often. Very light and upbeat, a little Spanish sounding. I found it a little distracting the way she kept counting up, though  Track 07: The vocals in this song sound like Something Corporate, who I used to listen to when I was a lot younger (before I discovered music I really liked :P). I personally don’t like vocals such as the ones on this song, I’m sorry! Apart from that the song's quite nice though, I like the piano sprinkled throughout the song. Track 08: More Spanish guitars, though these ones sound REALLY Spanish. I feel like I should be serving red wine and cheese to classily-dressed people when I listen to this song :P Very enjoyable and a very smooth song. I’d like to hear more from this band! Track 09: More horns, funky bass. More female vocals. Another pretty chilled-out song. The chorus line “Nothing, I said nothing is free” is SO familiar it’s bothering me :bomb: Track 10: Yet another very familiar-sounding vocalist, again I can’t pick who it is! A sweet, slow, simple and quite atmospheric song that starts to wind down the mixtape nicely. Track 11: Oooh, a very cute acoustic number! Reminds me a little of Josh Pyke but I know it’s not him. Very interested to find out who this one is! Track 12: Another vocalist I’m not extremely keen on, I might be thinking of the wrong artist here but it reminds me of Jack’s Mannequin? I don't dislike the song though, and it's a nice way to end the mixtape. So, mystery mixtape maker, thank you A LOT for putting this together for me! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and I look forward to finding out the tracklisting, I'm quite keen to hear more from some of those artists! Thank you!
  10. I really like the strings in that one Bryce, but I get the feeling it's the type of music that might take a little while to grow on me. I guess what I REALLY meant to say was something about your newfound love of Parades, but I guess I just failed :P Must admit, I thought Boulet's set sounded a bit messy when I saw him at Splendour last year (in that there just seemed to be percussion everywhere). Granted, I did see his set from the top of the amphitheatre.
  11. Are you mostly saying this due to your newfound love of this man? :P Note to self, NEED to listen to Parades... Oh yeah, Cut Copy were ok too. I only listened to the album a couple of times though, there's something about the singer's voice I don't like but I can't put my finger on what it is. Never heard of Paradise Motel, what are some songs to check out?
  12. I don't think so. I'll listen to music that other people recommend but don't really let them or their opinions affect my own. Edit: that was in response to violet's question :P In response to yours Jamie, no  My parents disapproved of some music I listened to when I lived at home, but they could/would never actually stop me from listening to what I wanted to listen to.
  13. Ha, true! Apart from Sparkadia, and even the middle east, I can't think of an Aussie album released so far that has been particularly good. Perhaps we were just lucky with the quality of some of last year's releases.
  14. You just made my day with that link. THANK YOU!!! :awesome: That's a real shame that you were disappointed. I remember when I saw them last year, my friend and I were at the barrier and it was actually ok because we had something to push against that wasn't another person! But SO many other people (mostly tiny skinny girls) got pulled out because it was too intense. And that festival wasn't nearly as big as Coachella! At least you get to see them twice more though, so it's not like it was the only chance you'd have gotten to see them that was ruined :nice:
  15. Fair enough, it is a pretty cool logo I must admit :P
  16. ^That's why I suggested it :P Of course, actually GETTING a ticket is something else entirely...
  17. I did that exact same thing :blank:
  18. Yeah it's weird, I hit 2222 just yesterday :P I haven't bought that one simply because the ads for it are completely stupid/ridiculous, in my opinion :P I prefer eclipse /topic fail
  19. Ahahaha, is it even any good? :P Btw, congrats on post 4444! :P
  20. AWESOME, I'm so glad I could help to educate you in the awesomeness of The Strokes  Seriously, you need to give the album a listen... And not quite, I just have mad skillz :awesome: To my mixtape maker... I'm sorry, I've only just had time to listen to it through once. I'll have some time off tomorrow when I'll hopefully get a review in :nice:
  21. ^ I don't know about Elbow, because a channel called ArcadeFireTube had posted all the vids of Arcade Fire's set. You might have to search around for Elbow's, but hopefully it's there :\
  22. Foo Fighters (double whammy, oh yeah)
  23. *high five* :awesome: You should, and then listen to the whole thing, and then tell me what you think
  24. Wooooooo! I can't actually afford to go but my friends/family are going to get me one for my birthday, because that's only a couple of days before the festival starts :wacky:
  25. Great idea! This is a section of the site of a great radio station in Australia that always has a few songs up for download, I think it updates once every month/3 weeks. You occasionally get a gem or two from here! http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/listen/mp3s.htm Edit: yaaay for post #2222 for me! :P
