 cool! did you get it from the AV guy in green? i'd approached the AV guys for the setlist after the show & i was directed to the guy in green. he apologised & said that he'd already promised it off to someone else. & i was wondering why in the world was there a big queue right along the middle aisle during the intermission...........until i realised that it was for ice cream. :dozey: that good, huh? ;) i hope so... *fingers crossed*

Wireless router networking connection problem!
he's in Malaysia, so i guess he's on Streamyx...which is an ADSL connection. @rudy_o : did you just connect the router directly to the modem? as in you didn't do any tweaking to your modem's settings? cos you may need to set your modem's to "bridge" mode in order for the modem & router to work together to connect online. the other thing would be to make sure your router's set up to connect with PPPoE, DHCP is enabled & "Obtain IP Address Automatically" or "Dynamic IP". but i think it's your modem's current mode that's the problem...

Hello Malaysia!
it's got to do with my tweet one fine day & Rudy's reaction to it... i was complaining that my WinAmp killed the mood by changing from (i think) Kasabian's Club Foot to Jay Chou's 'An Jing' can't remember what exactly our dear Rudy replied, but i later realised how funny that sounded...cos "An Jing" (anjing) means "dog" in Malay :dozey:

it is!!! & i'll bet the RAH shows will be a blast!!! :D hope the CPers there tonite have fun!!! :D :D :D you going to see them on this tour too, Bernard? cos i was also adamant to stay away from reading anything about the Brighton gig (tho i still did in the end :shame: ) or even see the setlist for Brighton until after the Bristol gig. heck, i didn't even want to look at the setlists sitting around on the AV soundboard before the gig started & it was just barely 3 rows away from me! :P

Coldplay on Q Magazine's Artists Of The Century [Scans added to first post]
yes, all of U2 are in that photo... :D but Coldplay are only represented by Chris & Jonny. i think i shall actually be buying this issue since there are so many bands that i like in it...even if there's only half of Coldplay & 1/5 of Snow Patrol in that foldout. :dozey:

Times Online The 100 best pop albums of the Noughties (VLV & AROBTTH featured)
nah, i think you got it spot on, Karen. it's normal for ppl to judge how good a band really are on their subsequent albums, especially the 2nd album. cos that 1st debut album could be a fluke if the band falters at the 2nd album already. but what is with the positions? 17 & 71...it's like someone decided to just swap the numbers around & assign them to Coldplay. :P

here's a video i found of the new Chasing Cars from the Newcastle gig...looks like they're sticking with this version on the tour now. :D [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhAfZsJ3WaI]Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars (Reworked)[/ame] & this is the new version of The Planets Bend Between Us from Brighton (same version was played for Bristol)...tho the intro's missed out [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clLSCmRZrdk]Snow Patrol - The Planets Bend Between Us (Reworked)[/ame]

Coldplay as Boy Band?
they'd make a rather "elderly" boy band as far as the average age of the band in relation to boy bands go... :dozey:

thanks! :) i'd say you're looking at about 40mins+ per set with a 25-30mins break in between. & they only did 2 songs for the encore - Just Say Yes & Shut Your Eyes, but perhaps they'll add another song for the RAH.

The Snow Patrol Thread
Mystical Bristol (hmmm...darn, not as good at this as garyL) ok...1st warning: this is going to be a long one. & i'm going on a smiley spam spree... ;) i'd all the while thought it odd that my ticket for this Snow Patrol gig read "An Evening with SNOW PATROL" (that's the exact font/print appearance) instead of something along the lines of "Snow Patrol - Reworked Tour 2009", but after Friday, i think whoever printed that ticket was spot on about what the Colston Hall gig turned out to be for me! :D the first sign that we were in for an intimate & informal evening of Snow Patrol : Gary walking onstage with a mug of drink in hand...even if he was dressed semi-formally (same attire as Brighton). there were also some audio issues involving the mics during at least 2 songs, but, imho & as much as i too hate the sound of mic feedback having done AV stage work ages ago, this just gave the whole thing a more raw, down-to-earth feel rather than being a well oiled nicely polished gig from start to finish...which realistically it wasn't, given that they apparently only had 1 week to prep for the tour. it was more enjoyable in that sense...for me anyway. weirdo that i am. :P Gary was in fine form that night, so i was surprised that he sounded so hoarse when i met him after. either he's a bit ill or it was from all that singing & joking around for almost 3hrs - like the very serious looking guy at the 2nd row who was terrifying him & but got to hug him anyway, the person who knew the words to Gary's song about Tierry Henry that hadn't even been written yet. i know people who went to the Brighton gig were commenting on the SP.com forum that that gig felt more like the "Gary Lightbody & guest musicians" show, but i didn't get that feeling for the Bristol gig. fairly sure there were only 2 Reindeer Section songs (Cartwheels & You Are My Joy) & the rest of Snow Patrol were onstage pretty much for every other song played from what i could tell. tho they were pretty spread out on the stage & usually disappeared offstage pretty quick since they were at the edge of either side of the stage. & Tom was hidden amongst the other musicians most of the time. & maybe it's in response to the feedback from the Brighton gig on their forum that Gary mentioned that the Brighton crowd were a bit lost about how things worked that night with it being a 2-set affair with an intermission & all. he explained how it would go to us...tho i think the Bristol crowd were still a bit lost. after the slow start during the 1st set, things picked up for the 2nd set but the people in my section were all seated still & i was thinking "oh crud! nobody here's going to stand at all???" then the guy in front of me turned to look back & i gestured for him to get up. & bless him that he had good manners. he actually asked if i was sure about that first as he didn't want to block my view cos he was rather tall. i told him "i'll stand if you stand"...& there we were...3 people (the girl with him also stood up) bopping away in our section until the people around us decided to stand up too. :P i'd say the standout songs for me from the reworked ones are Chasing Cars and The Planets Bend Between Us. Chocolate & Run were great too, but i don't think they changed those much from the Union Chapel version. also like the harder sound of the reworked Starfighter Pilot...i think it sounds much more spacey now too. :) Chasing Cars and Planets, sound very different now...more so for Planets. so that makes it 3 versions of Planets that they've done in my books. THANK YOU JENFLOR!!! your finger crossing have done their work well for Friday!!! unless they are sticking to the current version of Chasing Cars as of the Bristol gig, i think they are still tinkering around with Chasing Cars' sound (& some of the other songs too, from the looks of it). but anyway, Bristol got dibs on a new reworking of it that "didn't quite work out for Brighton". :smug: frankly, i don't think they need to tinker with it further...this version sounds FABULOUS, especially with the chant they've worked into the song now. at one point the crowd just went with singing the chant as opposed to those very famous words from the song. so i hope you guys going for the RAH gig get to hear it too! Planets. the version played for this tour is easily a fave! when the Brigton people mentioned that it was a more "upbeat version" of Planets played, i'd thought they meant the single version of the song. but it turned out to be a REALLY more upbeat version & i prefer this version over the single version cos it's just a totally different way to enjoy the song (if i'm making any sense here). the intro has a bit of a U2 feel to it, mixed in with a bit of the ER theme throughout (that's what came to my mind). i'd actually thought it might've been Chasing Cars initially (y'know, medical theme...) until Gary started singing "the winter's marked the earth..." i wanted to jump & "SQUEEE!!!" but everyone around me was just bopping away silently. so i didn't. :embarassed: the 3 new songs: they ALL sound great live! especially Dark Roman Wine. Give Me Strength is great & i love how it's about the other guys in Snow Patrol, but melody wise, i like Dark Roman Wine more. oh...& i love how Gary's admitted he's actually scared of Jonny!!! it reminds me of how Chris is scared of Will!!! :laugh3: guess it's the big scary drummer's job to keep the lead singer in line... :P ........& i now cannot listen to The Golden Floor AT ALL w/o bursting out laughing when it comes to the "i'm a peasant in your princess arms" bit. cos i think about how he said he almost sang it as "i'm a pheasant in your princess arms"!!! :laugh3:

well, mine's about as long as yours actually. just that my break starts on 14 Dec & ends 10 Jan. which i fully intend to spend X'mas week snowboarding (pun intended)...to destress. even if it'll be my 1st time trying it out. :D but i'll get to work on the review now...or this wk/end latest. cos i've got a programming test & assigment happening/due next week. :( yeah, that would be a cool thought...haha assuming he didn't junk it the moment he walked away...or it didn't slip out of his massive hands (it looks even smaller in his hands that it already is!) :P

Doctor Who ???......
aye, same applies for me. hence why i'm reserving judgment on Matt Smith for now...aside from the fact that he looks weird (it's the hair...it just looks weird...i can't get over its weirdness yet) & TaniaLovesUK : i've seen the twittersode's video podcast, but i don't know where to get the script tho...aside from carefully listening & re-listening to the podcast.

Discotheque's got my vote for U2 catchiness...especially that "boom chak" (or whatever it's meant to be) bit :D

they'd have to be whipped if U2 isn't anywhere in any "best rock album" listing for 60s - now, imo. :P the Bristol gig was great!!! i managed to work up the courage to tell Tom after the gig that it was a great show...he thanked me & said it helps that we were a great crowd. :D Nathan was incredibly difficult to take any decent photo of all night...& he scarpered off pretty fast when he came out the back with the other guys. so i didn't get a photo with him or get him to sign my copy of Final Straw. but the other guys were really nice & Paul even took a photo of me with Jonny for me...well, he took 2. cos he said the 1st was all blurry & funny. & Gary's got my mini Sharpie...he seemed to take a liking to it over the bigger/normal one he was holding when i asked him to sign Final Straw...& it never made it back to me. :P got some uni work to finish still. i'll try & post a review & pix tomorrow after i get back from Cardiff on my Doctor Who hunt. :P

Doctor Who ???......
i loved the Empty Child ones...& i did think that was a tad scary/creepy. gas masks've never seemed more scary then! tho i now almost always play as a gas mask wearing Pyro online on Team Fortress 2... :P but yeah! David's a fantastic doctor! it'll be sad to watch the last ever episode with him as the doctor...

Apparently Im getting this...
this HP Mini's got generally good reviews so far, from what i've seen. & it's originally aimed at business users, so specs tend to be a bit better. & the HP Mini netbooks tend to look classier than the competitors (namely the ASUS eeePC that started the whole netbook trend)...if you're also considering looks. cos HP tends to go with a metallic finish for the Minis. the 1GB of RAM should be enough to handle what you usually run, but it's upgradable up to 2GB RAM anyway. & that'll be more than enough to handle iTunes & video editing. & the 7200rpm HDD it's running on is a pretty decent HDD speed as well as a nice big storage of 160GB. tho it's running on an Intel Atom CPU, so don't expect everything to run super smooth like on a desktop PC running an Intel Core2Duo CPU, especially if you like to multitask. & try not to view HD videos on a netbook...these netbooks can't really cope with anything higher than 720p, in my experience.

wow! that's fast! read a review (ok...on hindsight i probably shouldn't have) on the SP.com forums & seems like it's mostly Gary + guest musicians onstage as opposed to Snow Patrol as a band. there were apparently some hecklers in the crowd too + the crowd were generally a bit confused about whether they should be sitting down all prim & proper thruout or rocking away. :\ *tries hard to just forget what she's read earlier & enjoy tomorrow* :P

Doctor Who ???......
i wants David back!!! the newbie looks weird... then again, Matt Smith might turn out to be good. cos i initially thought David was bloody hyper compared to Chris Ecclestone, whom i liked too, but he turned out to be a really great doctor. Mark : a rugby player who preens??? *lol* doesn't fit, imo... :laugh3:
