Haha I know, nobody really understands my views of football, I don't give a shit about winning cups or anything, in fact I wouldn't know how to react if we did win one. I care more about supporting the team and being part of the whole "Geordie" thing, it's amazing, Newcastle is really incomparable to other clubs, they just have this amazing atmosphere surrounding them.

No, I accept that giving the wrong person too much freedom is a bad idea, that's pretty evident with some of the episodes in the last series of Doctor Who and the 2nd Star Wars Trilogy. But Moffat is awesome, and Lindelof and Cuse know what they are doing with Lost too, so I just take exception to it. We pretty much agree, just have different tastes :nice:

I can understand your viewpoint, I can. But it's just the way it was worded seemed like an insult to the writers, that's all. So it's not so much that I disagree that they have a lot of freedom (although I don't see why, in the right hands, this is a bad thing at all), but more I was defending the writers and their talents. Lost has been planned out pretty much from the start to a certain extent and your comment made me feel like you were saying they just made it up as they went along. I'm just a massive Lost fanboy though, haha.

Newswipe isn't as good as Screenwipe, Doug Stanhope is hilarious on it though. Have either of you read his Guardian stuff? He's published a lot of the TV criticism in book form, but a lot of his articles are just genuinely amazing to read. Nathan Barley is undeniably genius. His E4 Zombie thing was pretty good, not as good as his other stuff, but it was really enjoyable, not quite as good a social statement as Dawn of the Dead, but it's more a modernised version of that really.

It was "they can just do whatever they want" that annoyed me, nothing more. Heard that so many times about Lost, pisses me off cos it's so far from the truth. I've never been this excited about Doctor Who in my life, in fact I stopped watching during Tennant. So it's not like I'm spitting my dummy out at you not liking it, just the ignorance that the writers just go along being ridiculous.

Oh shut the fuck up and go watch something "realistic" then. I don't think what you said is true at all anyway, they get plenty of backlash. I can't believe how much I loved this new season opener. Matt Smith is absolutely brilliant. Steven Moffat is a MUCH better writer than Russell T Davies as well.
