I followed all those three 2000's British Invasion girls, Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Adele. Winehouse is in another league, especially with her out of this world songwriting and how she seems to be very connected with each and every song. Duffy's songwriting is okay, I guess. Her voice is... I don't know how to put it, it sits between almost annoying, sweet, powerful and emotional. Adele vocally trumps the two of them, although she sometimes shoots my ear with pain (albeit always spot on), but her songwriting is just awful, especially in 19. As far as Adele vs. Duffy. I never picked favourites between them. Duffy's Rockferry was WAY better than 19. She knew her materials and she can sing them perfectly. But in Endlessly, Albert Hammond killed her. All the songs are crap. Adele on the other hand started with a thoroughly messy collection of songs in 19, I almost hated it if not because of a few songs like Hometown Glory, Chasing Pavements, My Same and Melt My Heart To Stone. 21 is much better as an album. Having said that, I must say that none of its songs is as good as any of those four from 19. :end of rant:
  6. that would be moi. That's okay though :)
  7. You gave me Frighten Rabbit, British Sea Power, and Talking Heads on Mixtape Exchange ep. 4. Guess you really love them. And I almost put in The Tallest Man On Earth into my mixtape too, I just didn't know how to fit it in so I removed it :(
  8. Amazing mixtape you did there. With some mainstream bands, I didn't feel lost throughout. You did a pretty damn good job analysing my taste. Than AaRON guy is worth hunting for.
  9. knock knock atau lebih tepatnya: ketuk-ketuk
  10. First of all, I apologise to make you upload twice :disappointed: Please, don't blame me, blame Chinese government who blocked megaupload.... please :embarrassed: And here's the review. 1. An interesting intro. Sounds like a new wave 80's track. Although I thought it was Temper Trap at the first milliseconds 2. Is this Tina Turner??? If so, I LOVE YOU! 3. I love this, it has this 70's vibe with a slight Nashville air. The vocalist voice is so sensual and effortless. Love the brass, composed and arranged thoughtfully. Although it's a bit on the longer side, quite unusual for this kind of music. 4. Still in the same area with track 3, but this one is much more 90's that just make it sound so much better. The lyric is very interesting. And who the hell is Leroy? 5. Sweet Child O' Mine, that was easy. And it's Sherryl Crow, the cover which I think is better than original. I think I love you mixtape maker :wacky: 6. A slight departure from the pervious 3 songs. Very interesting. The vocal and guitar signals that this is a power rocker from 80's. But the whole arrangement says otherwise. Wow, he wails, is it Axl? Way to go arranging your tracks :laugh3: All in all it's a cool song, with modern vibe surrounding a slightly dated lineage. 7. French! I don't know how to put my finger on this. It is deffinitely interesting. The vocal is eccentric. But the arrangement, with all those violins and stuff combined with drum machine, I'm just not a fan. If only the drum machine go. For the love of my non existant dog, use real percussions. 8. French again. The music reminds me of other song, which I didn't like. But it works swell here. I'm like listening to world music here (which I like). 9. Intiguing intro. Mew like. Again another departure of style, but this one is a huge leap. When he sang "Animals we are...." I was... wait, what? But no it's not a cover to a Coldplay song. This song is certainly much more "sane" for this forum lol. I like the song. They fooled me, made me think that they're Mew, twice, but they're not. 10. Oooooh, I wish that crazy piano continues. Oh, it does. I love it. Oh, the chord progression is ubercool. I LOVE IT. The drums, against my preference for this kind of song, but it just works!!! Eerie without going slo-mo. LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE 11. Go Your Own Way, again it was easy. Cranberries? So much Dolores in it. Or maybe just Dolores? One of the best cover I've ever heard. Maybe the best. I love covers!! :) 12. Bjork-ish intro. Not really... damn you, guitar! I was hoping that this is a Bjork song I've never heard :D. Just when I'm content with this being an instrumental, vocal kicked in. Not quirky enough, IMO. I really like it better without vocals. 13. Sounds soooooooo familiar. A little bit of Moby in the intro. But, again, it's not him. I LOVE this song. It bothers me that I feel like I've heard it before. Is it a cover or something. TELL ME PLEASE!!! Or, no, maybe I haven't heard this before. Way to close a mixtape. Though if you put #10 as a closing track, I'm gonna kill myself lol Do you know me? Somehow you put many songs with female vocal, songs with strings and brass, adult contemporary and retro sounds, all hits really close to my liking. And that Tina Turner song... :faint: Highligts: #2 and #10
  11. me too, but I think mine is strategically good. my partner taste is so obscure, so i put on some mainstream :D EDIT: rudy, don't cut me when i speak
  12. Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes Adele - 21
  13. Rebecca Black FTW!!! P.S. FTW stands for Friday-Thursday-Wednesday.

  15. was well intimidated by partner :| btw, to my mixtape maker, you can throw in anything. If you stalk me you will find lots of clues but I won't put it here in case you don't want to know. I have 1 request though. Please, please, please, PLEASE for the love of goddess don't make it too long. I usually can't keep up with long albums. 16 is way too many. But then again, it's up to you ;)
  16. I would love to hear this kind of stuff.
  17. This is how my all crush band would look like
  18. Will Champion (Coldplay) - Drums or anything he wants to play. Seriously, this guy can play like a million different kind of instruments Rivers Cuomo (Weezer) - Bass or, again, anything he wants to play. Guy Garvey (Elbow) - Guitar Norah Jones (El Madmo, and umm... she also have a solo career... in case you didn't know) - Guitar or Piano or Wurlitzer. AND THEY ALL HAVE TO SING! *imagining* . . . . . . . . . . *dies*
  19. I'm gonna make an adult contemporary mixtape, hope you'll like it :) (no, but seriously, I am dead serious :|)
