  1. I only discovered Bon Iver after reading a review in my local paper last Sunday, then he played on Colbert on Monday and I was just struck at how goosebumpy his song and music was. I have not been this stunned by a musician since 2008 when I saw the National open for R.E.M. Loved the National so much took a bus down to N.Y.C. and saw them in Central park. Bon Iver has had that effect on me, and I have yet to listen to his first album. Of all the songs, Holocene is the one that has truly grown in my mind, and reading the lyrics as it plays, just :stunned: I have had the album playing on my ipod touch repeatedly since I bought it on Tuesday. Even let it play while I sleep to seep into my dreams, just such an exquisitely beautiful album.
  2. What an amazing show! Managed to upgrade from section 124 to b6 on the floor which was awesome, and I totally lost it when they started singing. Brought my camera but was so excited forgot to take pictures ( and the 2 I tried to take turned out horrible). I don't know if it is possible to get too excited for Coldplay but I know I was pretty excited. Just all the love in that stadium was overwhelming, amazing. And something like 45000 people there, pretty insane
  3. OMG, so close now. And found out my brother is gonna be in 131, better seat then me but totally awesome nonetheless since it is his first Coldplay Concert. I think this year I'll actually try to get there in time to see the opening acts, Elbow looks fantastic :cool3:
  4. I am like right behind you, 124, row 5 :) Still wish there was a way we could sing Happy Birthday to Will since last year weren't they in TO for his birthday? Would be a nice tradition to start up
  5. If we get them to play past midnight, couldn't we sing Happy Birthday to Will? I know, I am grasping at straws, really, anything to keep them playing ( mainly in the vain hope they play A Message  ) Or if that is impossible, singing Happy Birthday at the end of the Concert as a Pre-Happy Birthday to Will?
  6. So if they are starting at 9:30, approx, will it be like midnight when they finish? For those that have seen them multiple times how easy is it to get them to stay longer? Like if we all scream like crazy will they play more then the setlist was showing? or will they play what is there and then jet?
  7. Ugh, I am in the far back :( Section 124. Oh well, last year my seats were literally at the top of the ACC, couldn't see anything so this is better. But just being there, experiencing all the love of what, 38-40k people, it more then makes up for however bad my seats may be. Plus I shudder at how awesome the sing a long to Fix You will be with that many people :) Getting shivers just thinking about it.
  8. Anyone know of any bars nearby? I know last year when they were at the ACC there was a bar that had nothing but Coldplay on, but I cannot remember the name of it. It's on Front Street, just past University I think, but not sure if they'll do same this year plus the fact it's a fair walk to the Rogers Centre ( through Union and then the path to the concert). My gawd, 2 days! I am practically  in excitement about it
  9. Weather report for that day/ night looks awesome, high of 26C, humidex of 31C. I really would love them to open the roof, maybe we get lucky and they do open it *fingers crossed* Anyone know how far the stage comes out? Cause me being stuck in section 124, I am at the bottom of the circle and I worry taking pictures will be too hard since I will be so far away and won't get decent quality ones :(
  10. OMG 4 days! I cannot wait, can we just skip Monday thru Wednesday and make it Thursday already?
  11. Love this band. My favourite song is Daysleeper. I can listen to that forever and never get tired of it.
  12. found this thread, and have to admit having traveled to see them in NYC last year in Central Park was perhaps one of the best things I ever did. Was even worth the severe sunburn I suffered while there doing the tourist thing. Love all of their stuff, still kicking myself for not getting to see them when they came here to Toronto this year. Of all their songs, the live versions of Fake Empire and About Today are far and away their best.
  13. Coldplay, The National, Kings of Leon, Metric. Mostly Coldplay since going to their concert in 4 days:D
  14. Pinky and the Brain. Oldie but a goodie
  15. Best lyrically to me is Amsterdam.
  16. Gotta agree with everyone that says Scientist > What If. The Scientist is one of those songs that sends shivers up my spine, like Fix You, like A Message, like Green Eyes. Anything that has that physical effect on my will always win out vs one that, although a great song, does not.
  17. Let's see if I can remember them all: Blue Rodeo 5x ( first concert I saw way back when I was 16 was these guys) Great Big Sea 5-7x( been so long since I've seen them not sure anymore) B.B. King 5x ( I see a pattern emerging) The Rolling Stones/AC DC/Rush ( Saw them at the concert they had in Downsview after the blackout) U2 in Washington with my brother R.E.M. 2x The Tragically Hip The Watchmen ( saw them in a bar, actually met the lead singer and got him to sign a book of poetry I was reading because I had nothing else to sign, lost the book tho :( ) The National ( Saw them open for R.E.M. last year at the Amphitheatre, fell in love with them so went to see them in NY in Central Park-best concert I've been to in my life so far) Coldplay (saw them on the 30th last year at ACC) Eric Clapton ( never drink too much and always wear pants not shorts when going to the Amphitheatre :( ) I am sure there are lots more but those are the ones I can remember
  18. Course I love Beer. There are some that have a real nice aftertaste, one is Hoegaarden(sp?) that uses different hops, has a nice taste. Molson, Labatt, Coors all taste just like water to me and I'll only ever drink those if there is nothing else to drink.
  19. voted yes, but thats cause got politics in my blood, my grandfather on my father's side was a small town mayor near Ottawa. That and I can be very opinionated about most things
  20. Has anyone ever been to a show at the Rogers Centre/SkyDome( for those of us who are a bit older) where the roof was open? If it has never happened before I fear it won't happen now, even tho that would make a beautiful show just all the more amazing.
  21. Just because I happened onto MadTV and Michael McDonald's parody of The Scientist was playing that's my favourite song for today :)
  22. I just started reading a book I got when I was in Australia, again. "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. Figure after reading 1421 by Gavin Menzies needed something light
  23. HP 8.5/10 Never read the books, only ever followed the series through the movies so I am sure I missed a lot, but it was rather funny
  24. I have watched L&O since the beginning, was soooo happy when they announced they'd be renewed. So long as Sam Waterson is on L&O I will watch it. CSI, meh, I'll watch it but not a real fan
  25. 6 more days, I do not know if I can make it, been listening to the leftright download and good lord I can't listen to Fix You without getting a tear in my eye. I was bad enough today at work, I don't know if they'll need to lock me in the back next week, getting soooo excited!
