  1. This is absolutely brilliant; excellent work. In my opinion this explanation fits so perfectly into the constraints of the band's explanation. My father once told me that everything expressed through art is done for a particular reason, nothing is accidental. The album lettering isn't arranged the way it is simply because Coldplay ran out of space on each line, it's done for a reason, as is the arranging of letters and spacing, or as Chris mentioned, the "sequencing" (which he stressed was very important to the album as a whole). When I write, I use metaphors and similes to get my point across, while also using the appearance of something simpler for those who won't delve deeper into the meaning, why wouldn't a band such as Coldplay do this? They already did with Viva.
  2. I honestly doubt that Princess of China will make the final cut. Chris said that there were songs that he has played and he felt like an idiot for playing them, so he stopped doing so. As far as I know, PoC is the only new song played live this summer, that has stopped being played live.
  3. You never know. Look at the booklet of Viva and you'll see the titles Glass of Water, Postcards from Far Away, Poppyfields - none of which actually appeared on Viva, but rather the Prospekt's March - EP.
  4. Song*, Sorry not "in and out of each theme".
  5. Exactly. Perfect example is LiT into Cemeteries, but also the beginning and end, birth and re-birth, of LiT and The Escapist.
  6. A concept album simply means that there is a central theme or focal point (a story) that flows in and out of each theme. If you listen, I mean really listen, and read the lyrics, there is definitely a story being told in this album, so to me, yes it is a concept album. But that's simply my opinion.
  7. It is a very interesting analysis. The "quest" can be further narrowed down however. I wrote an analysis of Viva for a college religion class I took a year ago. If you'd like to read it and discuss the album further let me know and I'll email it to you.
  8. Cemeteries and 42 make complete sense if you listen to them in the context of the album as a whole, rather than as single songs.
  9. What part of FL you from? Im over in Melbourne.
  10. Id have to say: Viva, AROBTTH, X&Y, and then Paracutes. Thus album will be brilliant, but personally I dont think they can top Viva, that was their Opus.
  11. Having heard a decent sample of the material that might appear on LP5, how does, or how do you think it will compare to the boys' previous work?
  12. I don't see them going off and doing their own thing, Chris said that he would be nothing w/out the other boys. They're a democracy true and true.
  13. Absolutely not. As long as Chris and co. can write songs that they deem meaningful they will continue. Coldplay does everything with a purpose, they won't continue on and wear out their welcome (ie. Rolling Stones, Oasis, The Cure, etc.). They'll go out on top, but that'll only be when they absolutely feel that they are no longer relevant.
  14. Watch the jimmy Kimmel version then
  15. Thats pretty doubtful, Im pretty sure they have a grasp on what theyre doing.
  16. Well it's a way of getting people's attention and getting himself out there...crafty
  17. Just saw your location, I'm listening to that album right now lol
  18. I don't think it'll be "over-produced" but I do think that a good amount of fans will be disappointed in it (there's no pleasing some people!). Some songs don't always translate well to studio recordings, imagine how Spanish Rain would look. Personally though I think Cartoon Hearts will be brilliant.
  19. I really like the addition of the piano outro, it flows so perfectly into Life is For Living.
  20. But wouldn't the back of Chris' shirt then state "Charlie Brown" or "Cartoon Hearts", rather than "Car Kids"?
  21. I agree that it should, and probably will be a single...but wouldn't it make more sense to say that ETIAW is most likely the first single? It was already released as a single and an EP and stands a fair chance at making the album. There's already a video, it has been the ending to the encore's of each concert so far and it too was featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
  22. Ok sent it!
  23. What's your email address I'll send you my paper.
