New Lyrics?
Wow, thanks for all the harsh words everyone. I wrote them for a creative writing class quite a while ago, so no I'm not "influenced" by non-existant space themes. For those of you that enjoyed them...thank you. For those that didn't...I'd LOVE to see you make a better attempt. Here's my second song. It's called Vincent And I. I remember waking up, and watching you, sitting next to you. Lying there atop the cool, soft sand, Wanting to reach over and hold your hand. Darling, through all the ages and all the times I’d never seen such big, green eyes. You twinkled on the beach and gave off light, As we gazed into the starry night. Oh Starry Night! Oh Starry Night! Vincent would be proud beneath this starry, starry night. Blue swirls crowd up the skies In the places where we’d see the eyes Of all the people and the passerby’s in the town below. Church steeples tower in the night, lighting Up the day of townspeople kept out of sight And I miss you so, while I look at your imprint in the sand Blown away by the times of the land, And I think of that one starry, starry night. Oh Starry Night! Oh Starry Night! Vincent would be proud beneath this starry, starry night. The clouds they swell, the kids all dance, The shops alight, and I think of you, I think of you, I dream of you Beneath this starry, starry night. Mr. Van Gogh and I walk, beneath this starry, starry night.

New Lyrics?
I found these lyrics online when I typed in Mylo Xyloto. These sound Coldplay-ish but I'm not sure. What do you guys think? In the Stars Beyond the mountain blue, and the skies overhead, is a place where we once lay. Beyond the stars and the satellites Is where the light would stay. We’d fall apart into the black decay And dream, dream of that golden day. Oooohhhhhhhhh, Oooohhhhhhhh Falling apart, one by one, We all run away. Searching the fields up above The future slides away. Black holes fall into the day Sweeping me into the void a slave I dream of you and that golden day And I sing Oooooohhhhhh, Oooooohhhhhh Falling apart by myself, I ran astray, like a nebula I die, But I light a star, light a star in you. Oooooohhhhhh, Oooooohhhhhh I light a star in you. A star, a star, light the star in you Come back to me, in the black of day And light a star in me.

Coldplay stole our running man!
Nice advertising effort. And I agree, it's Tom Chaplin!

Solid Ground and A Ghost would be B-Sides right?

The importance of Moving to Mars
That it will serve as an introduction to the concept of the album.

The importance of Moving to Mars
Im not saying it has to be included, all im saying is that it will play an integral part of the development of the album as a non attached precursor

The importance of Moving to Mars
At this point in the pre-production of the album, it looks somewhat obvious that MTM won't be included on Mylo Xyloto, but does anyone else get the feeling that it may be the most important song from this era? Knowing what we know about MX, and the loose concept of the concept surrounding it, I cant help but think that it will either serve as a preface or an epilogue to the album when the sequencing is completed. Anyone else feeling the same? Listen to the lyrics amd check out some other forums to kind of get an umderstanding for what I'm asking.

Will Paradise be released as a CD single?
Awesome profile pic man. Before and After Science is my favorite Eno album. Spider and I is one of the best songs ever written.

Tracks that may make the album based on the concept (Really long, sorry, i get really into things li
One more thing while I'm here though; if there were no story being told, or theme being connected, why would sequencing be such a vital aspect to the album-making process? After all they are just a bunch of unrelated songs right?

Well to each his own, you're entitled to your opinion, that doesn't mean it's absolute, nor does it mean it's fact. That's the beauty of art, each person that views it is allowed to bask in it and formulate one's own meanings.

How do you know they've never used them to tell a story? Have you asked them? Have you sat with Chris and actually asked him? I highly doubt you have. Formulating one's own opinion and deciding things for himself is what makes us human, and is the primary theme in which we are discussing from this new album, obviously you lack the coherence and decision-making ability to formulate and share your own thoughts, you'd rather knock people enjoying good debate.

"I remember on our first album, we went to Paris and a guy had a version of "Parachutes" that was in a different order, and he basically said, "this album is so depressing." So I was like, "oh fuck," and we changed the sequencing around to make it a bit more optimistic. And at the moment we have a group of songs there's sort of three different routes from beginning to end, and I'm a little bit lost today on what to leave off."

Interesting take...very interesting. I'm gonna go with ETIAW, 1. Because I'm an optimist, and 2. Because Chris said that they would leave us feeling happy (at least I think that's what he said, reference back to his comments on the sequencing of Parachutes for the Billboard interview).

Moving to Mars could also serve as a preface to the actual album. A bit of foreshadowing, or maybe to serve as a background for the events taking place in MX.

Agreed. I like your reasoning behind all this madness. I'm not sure if Coldplay will go for an all instrumental MX. That worked with LiT, but knowing how these guys work, they won't want to start two albums off on the same foot, so I'm anticipating a good 4:00 opener (w/ lyrics). HLH is a definite, the Running Man is too symbolic and obviously imperative to their new live acts, not to mention it's my favorite new song. I see Major Minus as an antagonist as well, not so much an individual, but rather, an anti-movement, or the oppressive force causing the "Lost Boys" to rebel. Charlie Brown is obvious also, though I think the song is more one on the recovery/ maintaining of innocence and hope amidst all the dispair. "Be a cartoon heart", at least to me, is a cry for normality, and all that once was. UATW I think is about struggling to find hope and light beneath all the evil and darkness. It's about feeling alone in a dystopian world. I don't think PoC will be included, B-Side like A Spell a Rebel yell (maybe). ETIAW is an absolute closer. The first thing I thought when I heard it, was of Concentration Camp survivors after WW2 and how they must've felt being free people once again. MTM, when heard in context with the rest of the album, could be more of a metaphor for adapting to a new way of life; ie an oppressive, big brother-esque one, and having to deal with this government governed by fear and control. I don't think it will make the album, but if it does, it'll be one of the 1st 3 songs.

MYL OXYL OTO - My take on Coldplay's clever and perhaps subversive new album title
I see your point with OK Computer, I thought you were referencing it simply for milestone achievement purposes. I'd love to see Coldplay attempt a "Fitter, Happier" type of song lol. I love their use of classic literature as well. Chris comparing Major Minus as an Orwellian-type of dystopia made me entirely re-think my view of the song...not to mention he drew influence from Cormac McCarthy's The Road, which is the best novel to come out of the western world in the last 20 years.

So you think it means nothing then?

I actually think Viva was their OK Computer, the album that changed everything...the course the band would take, conquer, and run with. Mylo will be the Kid A or In Rainbows of their discography.
