  1. And of course I'm sure loads of people will blame Obama for this. :shockandawe: there's actually other people involved in the "government" besides the President.
  2. FYI - Yesterday I sent PMs to everybody that contribued so far, as confirmation of the amount and number of entries. Keep the contributions coming! We want to show Kids Company how generous Coldplayers can be!
  3. Great questions everyone! You can post more questions through Friday, and then I will forward them on to our contact.
  4. I never get those; and I never end up getting the flu. I bet my other half whined a lot more after the tetanus shot he got a few months ago. He wouldn't stop whining for a whole week.
  5. Oh my goodness, last night's episode of South Park. I don't know how they come up with that stuff so quickly before airtime! Cartman going across the country to steal oodles of ballots for Romney so that Obama won; which was a directive from the Chinese government (General Tso), because China wanted to be able to control/buyout/whatever the rights to the Star Wars franchise so that new (real-life) owner Disney (just announced a few days ago) wouldn't screw up the next 3 movies; Morgan Freeman getting a new freckle each time he explains complicated issues with his soothing voice (direct reference to Obama's TV commercials of course)... that was an instant classic episode.
  6. Yeah I'm guessing (hoping) she's probably hiding in one of the watch towers or something.
  7. Well, it is 50%/49% in Ohio right now, and not all the precincts have reported yet. At this point it might not matter anyway. Currently the (projected) electoral votes are 275 Obama / 203 Romney. Ohio is 18 electoral votes. So if you give Ohio to Romney, that makes it 257 / 221. Obama would still likely get 13 more electoral votes to hit the magical 270.

okay then follow the lemmings instead
  9. And it happened... winning the electoral vote whilst (up to this point) losing the overall popular vote. Gotta love the U.S. system! :freak:

    done :awesome:
  11. I'm tempted to sig this. :cheesy: omg YAY Eddie you got your song!!! D:
  12. So I decided to hold off on watching any of the streaming results until now, nearly 10pm. Sure enough, it's close... the popular vote is 50%/49% with Romney having a slight edge, and he's winning in the electoral votes (162 vs. 157 for Obama). This will be interesting indeed. It varies for each precinct, and actually mine was slightly more technologically advanced than last time. For my precinct, you walk over to a table and hand them your drivers' license, and fill out a little piece of paper with your name/address/signature. Then scoot over 5 feet to another table, and give another person the form that you just filled out, and you swipe your drivers license (in the past they didn't have anything to swipe your license, they would just go through this long list of names/addresses and check off your name). Then they give you the ballot which had something like 30 different things to vote for, which you "fill in the oval" with a pen. When you're done you go over to this bin (which oddly resembles a paper shredder) and feed it through the top. I'm bummed, they didn't have any "I voted" stickers left. :bigcry:

Wow, somebody actually voted "no". Hey... we should all change our avatars to Rudy's for the month of November.
  14. * voted * Fortunately there wasn't a line at my polling location; but I'd say it took me about 15 minutes to complete the ballot itself.
  15. Um yeah I'm pretty sure these two can't vote in the election.
  16. I'm good at avoiding plowing into deer at 70mph when it's dark out.

  18. 100% of the commercials on local TV are political now, and have been for at least the past week. One commercial is "vote yes on this proposal," and the very next commercial is "vote no on that same proposal." Argh. And for those people not in the U.S. who aren't aware of what all is entailed with election day, it's not just the President that we'll be voting on tomorrow. There's oodles of other stuff; this is going to take awhile. For example, this is what Detroiters will see on the ballot tomorrow: http://primary.publius.org/ballot/ballot.asp?RegionId=6686&ID=&Person= I'll be heading to the polls after work. I wonder how long I'll be in line.

  20. yes please
  21. Yip. I was looking for the Saturday Night Live spoof skit to help explain the show for the people here who posted that they didn't know what the show was about. (google 'SNL game of thrones') I'm assuming Will makes sure the kiddies are in bed if he watches the show. Wonder if he'll do anything aside from drumming. :sneaky:
  22. Wild Dogs Kill 2-Year-Old Boy At Pittsburgh Zoo By KEVIN BEGOS 11/05/12 09:06 AM ET EST PITTSBURGH — A mother's attempt to give her 2-year-old son a better view of wild African dogs turned into a fatal tragedy after the boy fell into the exhibit and was attacked by a pack of the animals as relatives and bystanders looked on. The mother had picked the child up and put him on top of a railing at the edge of a viewing deck at the Pittsburgh Zoo late Sunday morning, Lt. Kevin Kraus of the Pittsburgh police said. "Almost immediately after that he lost his balance, fell down off the railing into the pit, and he was immediately attacked by 11 dogs," Kraus said. "It was very horrific." It's not yet clear whether the boy died from the fall or the attack, said Barbara Baker, president of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. Zoo officials at first estimated the boy fell 14 feet, but police said it was 11. It's not clear which is correct. The Allegheny County medical examiner planned an autopsy Monday, and the boy's name was not expected to be released until that was complete. Authorities said that zoo staff and then police responded "within minutes," but visitors described that time as being filled with screams for help. Zookeepers called off some of the dogs, and seven of them immediately went to a back building. Three more eventually were drawn away from the child, but the last dog was aggressive and police had to shoot the animal. Steve Feldman, a spokesman for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, said no one he's spoken to can recall any deaths of children at an accredited zoo over the last 40 years or more. Feldman said the Pittsburgh Zoo successfully completed its 5-year review in September, which means it meets or exceeds all safety standards. Authorities didn't release the name of the woman, but say she is 34 years old and lives in Pleasant Hills, just outside Pittsburgh. The boy's father arrived on the scene soon after the accident, police said. The zoo was immediately closed, and it was not clear when it will reopen, authorities said. The so-called painted dogs are about as big as medium-sized domestic dogs, and 37 to 80 pounds, according to the zoo. They have large, rounded ears and dark brown circles around their eyes and are considered endangered. The attack happened in a 1.5 acre exhibit called the Painted Dog Bush Camp that's part of a larger open area where elephants, lions and other animals can be seen. Visitors walk onto a deck that is glassed on the sides, but open in front where the roughly four-foot railing is located. In May, some of the dogs crawled under a fence and escaped into a part of the exhibit that's usually closed. The zoo was on lockdown for about an hour as a precaution. Past fatal attacks at have prompted zoos around the nation to review safety features of their exhibits. In 2007 a tiger jumped over a wall at the San Francisco zoo, killing one visitor and wounding two others. Authorities first said the wall was 18 feet high, but a review found it was just 12 1/2 feet. In September a man jumped off an elevated viewing train at the Bronx Zoo in New York and was severely mauled by tigers. Kraus said there was nothing to prevent visitors to the painted dog exhibit from jumping into the exhibit area. Police and the Allegheny County medical examiner's office are investigating, and they haven't yet interviewed the mother and father, who are receiving grief counseling. Baker said the zoo, which has never had a visitor death, will also investigate. She said no decision has been made yet on the future of the exhibit. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/05/wild-dogs-kill-2-year-old-zoo_n_2075789.html
  23. Aaaahhhh I'll be glad when this is over tomorrow. I noticed this morning there are brand new last-minute commercials airing on TV. Full of accusations with no basis in order to get votes; and the opponents don't have time to rebut/disqualify the claims. Some polls have Obama and Romney tied as of yesterday, so tomorrow night will definitely be ineresting.
  24. Yeah pretty much this. That was an intense episode.
  25. Eddie you must be so excited, your concert is in a few days, right?
