  1. Then you add in future nurture, acquired characteristics and personal mental strength which can dictate how much these things affect the individual. Or you don't. I think you do.
  2. Tell me something you think I will find interesting. Don't worry if i don't find it interesting. I'll find what you think I find interesting, interesting.
  3. So booooooooooored. In the office on my own. Two hours and a bit left. Somebody entertain me. Wake up America.
  4. I'm aware of this, though I anticipated a similar taste. I do view slugs as homeless snails (as incorrect as this is) and it's also worth pointing out I don't know what slugs taste like so there could in fact be a comparison to be made. All in all though, not as sluggish as I had anticipated.
  5. I ate snails on Valentines day. They didn't taste as sluggish as I expected.
  6. Creep's a good song which has been milked. Doesn't stop it being a good song. I just don't want to listen to it. Ever.
  7. That lager gets its name from the lagering process it undergoes (a process of cold storage).
  8. Quite possibly. I can't remember what you were into when I was last on, which wasn't too long ago. Maybe a month or two. The weather here is almost warm. Nowhere near hot. Yesterday there was some warmth coming through, but the wind is up a bit more today and the wind is always cold. I hate the wind. Worst thing about this country. Apart from the government.
  9. You can experience love (the love you are talking of) with many throughout your life. It is of course possible to only experience it with one if things go well with them, or if they go bad and you don't allow yourself to get over it, or don't find anybody else (which is often believed to a far greater extent than what is actually true - everyone think they will never love again). Love is a chemical reaction that humans evolved in order for the two who conceive a child to stay together long enough to raise that child to then reproduce itself, thus continuing human life. Knowing this does not ruin the illusion and prevent love from taking place. After all, we have no choice in it. Being aware of why we feel it does not stop us feeling it. For some people it can depress them that love can be defined (which it can't be, it can merely be better understood) but they should find hapiness in the greater understanding of what they are experiencing and allow this knowledge to better inform their decisions when in a situation involving love. Knowing that love is a chemical reaction doesn't stop it being any more special than a guy having intercourse with a girl on the pill. Both know that they will not conceive a child, but it doesn't stop either the physical and/or spiritual side of what they are experiencing being overwhelming in a positive way, or for them to get whatever it is that they want from it. Therefore, whilst I understand the sentiments of the choice words, I do not agree with them as such since I think the best way is to be forward (though not totally outright) with your feelings and not feel that it is the end to be spurned. It would be more likely to be the end if you didn't act out on it and let it continue in your own mind, the power of what you felt never reaching the heights it potentially could if it had not been hidden away.
  10. Where did this thread end up going? Too lazy to read back.
  11. Hey there! When did you get into Bjork?
  12. Basking shark. How wonderful it would be that your species is described as one which basks. I never get to bask.
  13. I get the occasional grey (two in my life - like 1 year ago and 2 years ago, got them straight out) and I'm only 23. I don't mind but if they went totally grey at my age (which they won't) I'd just get rid of the lot.
  14. There's so much to judge in what is good and bad. In some cases part of it depends on how much a person is influenced by others on how they turn out. Some people don't have much of a chance to be good because of the surroundings they are brought up in and if they are heavily influenced by those around them and they develop ways in which to assimilate what is happenning around them which are generally seen as lacking lacking empathy then they need to have a lot of strength to buckle against this sometimes accidental conditioning and search deeply to develop their more empathetic characteristics. We all have certain instincts which revolve around reproduction but sometimes humans perception on exactly what reality is and what is important can become distorted. It's why those who don't have the strength can become more easily manipulated or continue what others perceive as negative morals etc through to further generations or spread them across the relationships they have. I don't have time to re-read and check just how much of that made sense but I know what I mean, whether I'm correct or not is another matter. Surroundings (for those who don't have the strength to control their own personal development) and ways of assimilating the world around them/perception matter a lot as opposed to simply being born good or bad. It's why serial killers' personal lives int he early years often follow similar patterns. So nurture over nature, though certain characteristics have been proved to pass through generations. That doesn't mean a person can't deal with these characteristics or make changes to them if they wish to. It requires strength though.
  15. And congrats Nick. I was waiting for someone. Can't believe it wasn't Mike.
  16. There is the argument which has been mentioned that women (generally) take up less room than men and thus you can theoretically fit more in to a lifeboat. Then there is the argument that those left on the ship should be the stronger as they can perform tasks such as pumping water out of the ship or assisting others out of danger and this would generally be the men. It is also seen as vital to first assist those who are vulnerable, something which I agree with. This would include children, the elderly and the disabled, regardless of the amount of life they have left, since they stand less of a chance of survival on their own. You do need some order and there isn't time to make a decision based on everybody's individual worth to society so as a basic theory I think that children and those who cannot look after themselves is a worthy model of which to work from in times of distress and fast action. Women and children has never been a rule as such, as far as I am aware, but it tends to be adhered to anyway. As for not living in Titanic days, it is possible to be in a situation where help is not at hand and large loss of lives is imminent, so such a tragedy may one day be faced again on a large scale, unfortunately, though the chance of it happening are much less than in the past due to technological advancements. Negligence is not something to be discounted, however.
  17. With the current cruise disaster, and the suggestions of unruly departures to safety, what are your views on the notion of women and children being first to the lifeboats? Do you feel gender equality should reach as far as this, in that women should not be granted special treatment? Or do you feel that, even with no worries of population problems women and children should be saved first as they have the greater chance for pro-creation? I'll be back in a few hours to share my thoughts.
  18. Anthropological reasons why humans feel love and show altruism.
  19. Technically a lie, it took me back to the page before this one.
  20. Born after seven months? How much did you weigh? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prenatal_nutrition#Barker.27s_Hypothesis
  21. I forget God can be capitalised sometimes. Been searching for a song called Dear God Twist for about a minute on Google. Google led me back to this very page.
  22. Not necessarily. They'll more than likely be similar people to her and she will have filled them with her own superficial ideals. I don't think it's a matter of right and wrong as such. I think more if the school wants to she can, if they don't she can't. The school will always be right in this case because it is a test of how liberal they are on these matters. It's down to pupil power, and when it comes to a decision like this, I don't see why the pupils need all that much power.
