  1. I stand by having concerns regarding political issues at home alongside global concerns. The two aren't mutually exclusive. True, most aren't as 'life or death' but they affect people's lives and are therefore important to those people and worth 'moaning' about, and a country like Canada and their environmental policies can affect the rest of the world. I'm sure Canadian's aren't comparing their problem to those of the third world. Like I say though, I do see your point.
  2. That's still no reason to put up with bad things. But I take your point. edit: Unless you're talking about him, and then ignore me. Presumed you were talking about people in Canada moaning about the elections. I'm sure you're not haha.
  3. It would be humourous if United won nothing. Especially if City won the FA Cup.
  4. Shame on him and even more shame on his voters.
  5.
  6. Final point for the moment, torture happens anyway and is illegal. It certainly doesn't need to be legalised. If something major happened and they needed information quickly then they would do it, regardless of the laws.
  7. Looking more and more likely he was killed at the time they said he was killed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-13313201
  8. Labour gains in my district. Wahoo.
  9. Read this thread in full. Read the torture thread in full. Join people in the real world. Grow up.
  10. It is a slang vulgar word for the female genitals that rhymes with punt.
  11. I really wish you'd contribute more Mark, rather than limiting yourself to one line responses on these matters. I'm sure your wisdom could inspire many. Several posters in this topic, and elsewhere on the board, help to develop the threads with their own insights, put forward compelling arguments (on many sides of the coin) and served to spark debate and force people into questioning their pre-conceptions. Don't you think you could try?
  12. Anything to add Mark?
  13. It rhymes with punt. And it may well be a blessing in disguise, but he'll still never be on a par with the likes of Nadal or Federer, as much as he acts as though he is.
  14. It won't degrade over the next five years.
  15. Mine could have won if I'd swapped The Tourist for There, There haha.
  16. Yup yup yup.
  17. Also I agree, if it was a person who had knowledge of a terrorist attack on a huge nuclear scale, I doubt you'd get useful information from them anyway. You know what these religious nuts are like...
  18. I'd let him rot in jail, while interrogating him and see what we found out. I do understand where you are coming from, but as has been said, torture and wrong information is just as likely to lead to more terrorist attacks in the future, and I think that it is for the greater good of human life not to torture people, both from a personal moral, and also a potentially safer (in the long run) future. If you allowed this then it would not be long before it spread throughout other countries. That indeed is a double edged sword, as although you are in a high risk area, it also puts you in a place that others look to. As selfish as it makes me sound as I don't live there, I think if I did live there I would try to put the world first as I try to make the world a better place as a whole when it comes to the bigger picture. I feel stopping torture would contribute to that and therefore I'm positive I'd be against it even if I lived in NYC or London etc.
  19. Andy Murray is a ****. He had an injury which wasn't life threatening but resulted in a disruption in his playing career and probably led to that defeat. Andy Murray is a ****.
  20. Not me. I'm doing Beck. Looking forward to making my list though. Whoever volunteers can have any assistance they want from me and 'seasoned Top 15 list thread maker' Mike.
  21. Of course they can. They just won't.
  22. It's just something we'll have to disagree on by the looks of things. After reading the thread I still don't see why someone would be for it, and if I pursued discussions I'm sure it would only irritate me.
