You think they'd get enough from the sponsors to cover costs. Obviously these things cost money to organise and stage but surely they can generate enough funds from sources outside the actual artists? The award is well known enough.

OK, so I'm looking for things to buy people for Christmas. None of you guys, you get your goods from the 'Prince Myshkin Buys Your Love' thread. I figured we could have a thread to be filled with inspiration for more unusual or interesting gift ideas, given I'm bored of buying the same crap every year. Not that books are crap. But yeah. So if you know of any sites that specialise in such things (and aren't too novelty, in the sense that they will be used more than five times) then here's the place to post them.

As in there is virtually no experimentation in punk rock (unless you're talking about some sub-strand of it) so it's unfair to compare a band who might actually be trying new things regardless of critical acclaim and what everybody wants (though I doubt that point in itself anyway). And the spirit of that genre (or at least the part you are referring to) only really mattered in its origins when it was new. Now everybody is aware of it. That's not to say it is devoid of meaning, but going punk rock is hardly sticking it to anybody anymore.

Punk rock is one of the most limited genres though so that's an unfair comparison.

Family Guy is alright. As is usual the early stuff was the best. It's just a cartoon that's worth existing and worth watching from time to time and it's cool to get into if you want to.
