  1. My dream shall not be repealed.
  2. I did something stupid.
  3. Ahh good. Then my post stands. And to ban me from the thread you'll have to stick me on ignore :p
  4. Of course not. I was just surprised you seemed so annoyed :p One thing I do enjoy doing to people though, when I have known them for around a week or so, if we are friends, is just casually drop in 'So, are you familiar with the good word of the Lord' into polite conversation, and watch their faces drop. Then laugh and watch the relief.
  5. After consideration I have decided to put forward the case for people who received the death penalty or committed suicide in order to avoid imprisonment and coming to terms with the crimes they committed. This would include the likes of Harold Shipman, Sadam Hussein and Adolf Hitler. My only hesitancy for this is that the thread called for celebrities and I would hate for this term to be used describe these men. Through death they received escape from proper punishment and even if they did not accept responsibility for what they did, a life imprisoned would be the minimum I would expect them to have to go through. This is of course ignoring the security risk that those people would command and it is not bringing them back as opposed to them having never died.
  6. Haha. Did that ruin your day?
  7. It would depend on my health. If my health was poor I would presume going first would be a good idea. If everybody was of equal health, mentally and physically then second. I wouldn't want to be the first in case there were obvious problems (yes, I am selfish and would want somebody else to go first) and I wouldn't want to be last because I would want out as soon as possible and the longer it goes on the greater the chance there will be complications. To be honest it is not something I would push for. I'd just end up going whenever.
  8. Haha, anybody who said Tally ho was playing up to the stereotype. Nobody says that without irony. In fact, nobody says it.
  9. Of course we can talk about it. But this isn't the thread for what I was talking about. This thread is about 9/11 and I strayed off topic.
  10. Whilst I disagree with your belief that all religions teach good this quoted part is a fair point. I shall desist from continuing this topic (I am indeed finding it hard to stay on topic as it is), although can I make it clear that I have no ill feeling to any pious members of any religion who wish no ill on others and do not force their religion on others (of whom there are plenty), it is merely the mechanics of the vast majority of religions as a whole which I dislike. My comments may be deleted if that is appropriate as they are off topic.
  11. Your statement on politics is acknowledged. However regarding the Koran: Sura 2:229 And the divorced women shall wait concerning themselves for three courses; and it is not lawful for them that they conceal what ALLAH has created in their wombs, if they believe in ALLAH and the Last Day; and their husbands have the greater right to take them back during that period, provided they desire reconciliation. And they (the women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in equity; but men have a degree of advantage above them. And ALLAH is Mighty and Wise. 4: 12. ALLAH commands you concerning your children; a male shall have as much as the share of two females; but if their be females only, numbering more than two, then they shall have two-thirds of what the deceased leave; and if there be one, she shall have the half. And his parents each of them a sixth of the inheritance, if he have a child, but if he have no child and his parents be his heirs, then his mother shall have a third; and if he have brothers and sisters, then his mother shall have a sixth, after the payment of any bequests he may have bequeathed or of debts. Your fathers and your children; you know not which of them is more beneficent to you. This fixing of portions is from ALLAH. Surely, ALLAH is All-Knowing, Wise. 4:177. They ask thee for a decision. Say, `ALLAH gives HIS decision concerning `Kalálah. If a man dies leaving no child and he has a sister, then she shall have half of what he leaves; and he shall inherit her if she has no child. But if there be two sisters, then they shall have two-thirds of what he leaves. And if the heirs be brethren - both men and women - then the male shall have as much as the portion of two females. ALLAH explains this to you lest you go astray and ALLAH knows all things well.' Sura 4: 35. Men are guardians over women because ALLAH has made some of them excel others, and because men spend on them of their wealth. So virtuous women are obedient, and guard the secrets of their husbands with ALLAH's protection. And as for those on whose part you fear disobedience, admonish them and keep away from them in their beds and chastise them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Surely, ALLAH is High and Great. 4: 4. And if you fear that you will not be just in dealing with the orphans, then marry of other women as may be agreeable to you, two, or three, or four; and if you fear you will not be able to do justice, then marry only one or marry what your right hand possess. Thus it is more likely that you will not do injustice.
  12. A severe lack of human rights. They imprisoned a man for daring to put forward (peacefully, not with force) proposals of a multi party democracy to allow the people to vote on who should be in charge. Added to this it would now appear that his wife has been put on house arrest.
  13. I believe extremism is bad in all religions (and that was what caused 9/11), simply because the holy books are not to be believed and therefore extreme interpretations of them can only spell bad things. On to your point I agree because 9/11 is not something that the majority of western Muslims, or other Muslims would agree with. Far from it. Many interpret it as a peaceful religion, and those people should not be viewed upon as the same as the perpetrators behind 9/11. My main dislike for Islam (not the individuals I must stress, but as a religion as a whole), however is in the inbuilt sexism which prevents freedom and encroaches upon what I believe to be basic human rights. I'm sure this will be discussed in another thread though.
  14. I would like to interject in accordance to a point made on a previous page in order to give my opinion on Mormon's given the fact I once dated a lapsed Mormon for almost a year (her family were Mormon's although she was not, though I have been to the church and read the material - simply as a gesture to her parents, not with any intention of joining due to my anti-organised religion views) and feel I have a greater knowledge of what the religion is about compared to others, particularly anybody who basis their opinions on the South Park episode involving the Mormon church. I believe that whilst Mormon's do indeed believe in a massive load of bollocks, it is only as ridiculous as other organised religions and that they are far less harmful to none believers (and indeed their own believers) than many other faiths. There are also a large amount of myths surrounding the church as to their belief's, for example that the male members of the church are permitted multiple wives (this is not true, though happened for a brief time until 1890 due to the persecution and murder of a high percentage of the male members of the church for not following more traditional religious belief's. It was put in place in order to repopulate the church and was suspended once this had been achieved and never proposed or even considered again). However, their views on homosexuals (who may join if they are not practising homosexuals), Christ's pending return to free everybody of the evil thus creating a heaven on earth and the continuous stream of prophets heading the organisation (similar to what the Catholic church achieves with their divine Pope) is not good and this leads me to abhor their teachings almost as much as the more militant religions, of which there are plenty.
  15. I do not believe that it was a conspiracy, although I feel that it has been used in negative ways by the American government after the event. The amount of people it takes to plan an event like that is huge (bigger than simply the Taliban committing the act since they had no plans to cover it up) and there is no way they could have got away with it. If they could get away with that we would be a lot more oppressed than we are as those capable of such actions would be in a ridiculously strong position.
  16. Well done Jules for you time as a mod! The work you did is respected by all, I would imagine.
  17. Well I have heard of them, though know nothing about them. No matter how boring they are I'm sure he'd be desperate to see them play soon, compared to what he has been used to the last few months. Hopefully they'll sort him out with tickets.
  18. :( Hope you get better soon. I'm pretty good thanks. A little tired though, not had loads of sleep recently. Looking forward to the weekend already haha.
  19. Ahhh, you are a hard woman to please. Hmm, if travel sized toothpaste doesn't get you into bed then he'll have to play hardball. Hows about something big and red? And yeah, working relationships aren't advised, but what work are you in? If it's temporary or you don't plan on being in the job for a long time then that's OK. If it is a brothel I'd advise against it.
  20. Saying morning glory would be inappropriate, so I won't say it. And if I was to say it then it wouldn't be unique simply to today.
  21. Aww, perhaps. I'm not aware of that. I hope he is well. I know they had a banner underground spread over some rocks which read 'Strength to Jimmy!'
  22. Will they get compensation, or just money from interviews and books etc?
