  1. I'd love to see Swallowed in the Sea and Strawberry Swing. I'm wondering what they are going to play on the SA tour, as the album won't be out yet. Coldplayers will know some of the songs they've played live at the festivals, but most of the 50 000 people going to each show will only know Paradise and ETIAW
  2. Wow! Only 9 days left then, you must be so excited! :)
  3. I am South African too, so maybe I can help. Are you going to the Joburg or Cape Town show? 1) Is it a given that front and centre is the best place to stand? Personally, I always go for barrier, but it does involve a lot of queuing, and it gets super hot and squashed, and people at the barrier can get mean sometimes. I am going to barrier in Joburg though. 3) Do I need to camp overnight to ensure that i get front row and centre? 4) If not, how long in advance do I need to go to the stadium? Big Concerts, and the the stadium security people won't allow overnight, they allowed from 7am for U2, but the park and rides only start going from about 1.30pm, so try to make other plans to get there. I am getting a lift from Gold Reef City and then getting the park and ride back. 5) I would like to take sparklers with for me and my friends to light during the scientist. I was inspired to do this after watching the same thing happen at Rock am Ring earlier in the festival tour. Is this possible/a good idea? Such an awesome idea! might be a good idea to check with Big Concerts if it's ok first though, because you'd hate to be kicked out for something like that. i'm getting glowsticks 6) Is there anyway to meet the band, or even to get a glimpse? Going to the airport, waiting outside the stadium, etc. How long do they usually arrive in the city before the start of the gig? I'm assuming they might fly straight from Rio to CT, so check the flights and go chill at the airport if you really want. some of my friends did that and managed to meet The Script at the airport in June 7) In your opinion, should I drink? Im scared that if i drink too much it will ruin the experience for me. This has happened at some sporting events before where i wish i didnt drink because i missed out on the "realness" per se. I basically dehydrate myself the day of a concert, so that i don't lose my place to go to the bathroom. ;) 8) Once the gates open, is it a sprint to the front of the standing area ala U2? Security get really upset with running, because of safety. Keep it to a speed walk 9) Lets say for example I camp overnight, or at least wake up early to go to the stadium, and the gates finally open, and I rush and manage to get to the front row. Now i really need the bathroom, but I'm scared that if I go, I will not be able to get back to the front. What is someone supposed to do in this situation? Do you get your friends to keep your place or something? once you're at the barrier, or have a slot, do not leave! make friends in the queue to keep your space there so you can go to the loo during the day. 11) Should i make a banner? What should i put on it? Ive been thinking of lines, especially from MX era songs to put on it. suggestions welcome! I'm not sure if they allow big banners, something about blocking other people's view, the same reason umbrellas are banned. maybe make a cool t-shirt or something to wear instead, that's what i've done hope this helped! :) maybe I'll see you in the queue!
  4. Swallowed In The Sea and Strawberry Swing. But if we're looking at what I'm probably going to be seeing, I'm most excited for The Scientist
  5. The traffic plan has now been released, and you can buy tickets for the "park and ride" or "park and rail" services to and from the stadiums. you can search for 'coldplay' on computicket.com and it should come up in the results.
  6. Just a word to the travellers, the traffic plan has now been released, and you can buy tickets for the "park and ride" or "park and rail" services to and from the stadiums. you can search for 'coldplay' on computicket.com and it should come up in the results.

"Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve. I loved when Coldplay performed it with Richard Ashcroft at the Live 8 concert
  8. In the past year and a half or so, on itunes: 1) Strawberry Swing: 96 2) LITii: 75 3) Violet Hill: 66 4) Lost! : 56 5)Swallowed in the Sea: 55 6) In My Place: 53 7) The Scientist: 52 8) A Rush Of Blood To The Head: 52 9) Glass of Water: 52 10) ETIAW: 49
  9. When your ringtone is the bit of ETIAW that goes "it was a wa-a-a-a-aterfall, a wa-a-a-a-aterfall". Also, everytime you hear the word "waterfall" you automatically start singing 'wa-a-a-a-a-terfall!", and people give you odd looks. When your friend sends you a picture of a waterfall she saw, with a caption reading "look, it's a wa-a-a-a-aterfall, a wa-a-a-a-aterfall!" :D
  10. ^ ah sorry! As far as I know, all the standing tickets are sold out, but I think there might still be a few seats available. And the promoters usually release a bunch of new tickets closer to the date as well. :)
  11. Oh that's great, maybe we will bump into each other in the queue or something :) @ juanma, yes, golden circle sold out within about 35 minutes
  12. ^ I'm lucky enough to have gotten golden circle standing tickets :) and you?
  13. When you're flying across the country to see them live for the first time, as you couldn't miss them coming to your country. Also, when you manage to convince your friend to come with you on this trip.
  14. Does this mean that the South African shows are technically the kick-off? As we are the only dates so far that are not festival shows...
  15. I completely understand where you're coming from, it truly annoys me when people just buy tickets to be part of something when they're not even fans! But I am going to the JHB show on the 8th, flying all the way across the country for it, and I assure you that I'll be screaming, squealing, singing and dancing the entire night. I too am one of those people who has every cd, knows every b-side, has seen ever live video etc etc. Also, when I went to queue for tickets, I met a bunch of people who are also flying up for it, and they seemed like true fans as well. So even if we're small in number, we'll be huge in enthusiasm. :)
  16. I think it's absolutely wonderful that you're willing to make such a trip to see Coldplay! Cape Town is without a doubt the most beautiful city I have ever been to. Just a heads up, tickets are selling very fast for both shows, and may already be sold out, so it would be best to buy now if you haven't bought tickets already.
  17. Saw them on the 26th of June this year, they give an absolutely fantastic show! I loved every minute of it.
  18. Yes, The Parlotones have just announced that they have been asked by Coldplay to be the opening act for the South African shows. The Parlotones are South Africa's most successful rock band, and they are excellent! (often compared to The Killers)
  19. I'm so excited to be seeing them in October! I think this song will sound really amazing live
  20. This is so exciting! It's amazing that I am sitting halfway across the world, but have the websites for Xfm, BBC R1 and Absolute Radio all open and waiting...
  21. I'm not sure where to post this, but 5fm in South Africa is going to be playing it as well, sometime this afternoon. you can listen live on their website: http://www.5fm.co.za/
  22. I have what is possibly the biggest exam of my university career so far tomorrow. Am I studying for it? No, I'm sitting here waiting for the song, eek! :)
