  1. Meeee! :D :P Thanks! That's really nice of you.
  2. ah ... Good Will Hunting. That movie just wouldn't have worked if he didn't leave for California in the end.
  3. Good luck ... after the fact (hopefully). I have no doubt that as long as you stay calm and be yourself then the interaction will be positive. At worst you'll find out more about her and save yourself some time. Either way, at 15 years old these types of interactions are good. They'll help you down the road. If you can develop an ability to converse effectively outside of your comfort zone you'll find yourself a much more convincing and confident person. And you'll make a lot more of your true personality available to the world ... which is always a good thing.
  4. You're the best! Thanks! That made me feel cool.
  5. hahahahahahahaaha Who said I was good? :D
  6. True. Nerd implies social recluse (sic?) while dork implies social malfunction.
  7. I agree with all your reasns for buying CDs in the store. I actually buy a ton of CDs in the store each month. But the record labels are still raping us, plain and simple. All of the points you note under the "capitalistic concepts" do not justify a $15-$18 charge at the record store. It just doesn't add up at all in any form. THIS sounds almost painfully obvious and it's funny that people seriously think that CDs HAVE to cost $17. That's ridiculous. If CDs HAD to cost $17 then you would never see a $9.99 CD. But you do. You see them all the time now. Labels produce CDs from their catalogue specifically for "Supersaver" prices. You think they're doing that and taking a loss? No way. not all CDs can be $9.99, but no CD should be $17.99. Your CDs are $17 because that's what people have been shown they're willing to pay for them. Demand for CDs went up, up, up and then the internet hit households and people had alternatives. CD burners were in every computer. Windows made it easy for the home user to create digital audio files. Rather than realize there was now competition and ratchet down the prices, the record industry started campaigning and suing. It sounds like you're buying into it. You're lying yourself if you've convinced yourself that they need to charge that much.
  8. I don't know if this is true or not. It may be. But even if it is this is not justification.
  9. No, I think you're missing the point. There are very few people who want to get rid of CDs. Nobody is "never" going to purchase a CD. If CDs were cheaper, more in line with their cost, people would buy them. You can't take an assymetrical hypothetical like never buying CDs, extrapolate it and call it a viable argument.
  10. Re: the last paragraph ... that's not just you. that's EVERYBODY. the problem is that there's a reason the relationship ended in the first place. this is not to say all relationshpis, once ended, are over for good. but the security and confidence you get from a relationshpi can not be garnered anywhere else. however, people in a bad relationshpis tend to loose parts of themselves as they start adapting their personalities in efforts to confort to their partner. that shouldn't happen.
  11. Thanks Jessica. I forgot the most important reason because it was too subjective. You posted it before: Gwyneth is stunning. IMO, she's much more beautiful than either of the Hiltons, though I could see a differing point of view. Gwyneth wakes up an is beautiful. A Hilton wakes up and realized she needs to be beautiful.
  12. The Police De do do do, De da da Da
  13. nerd chic is in, my man. river cuomo's getting laid left and right. just find a vibe and work it. it would be good if that vibe somehow correlated with your true self.
  14. one of the hilton sisters before gwnyeth paltrow? well ... can't say that i agree. first, the hilton sisters appear to have some mental disorder rendering each incapable of articulating a coherent thought. me, i would find this inhibitory in cultivating a relationship. second, while each hilton sister is certainly "perty," the difference in beauty between gwyneth and either, even if you give the hilton sisters the benefit of the doubt, in no way could outweigh the whole "I scored lower on my SATs than Jessica Simpson" vibe the Hiltons have going on. third, the hilton sisters are girls. gwyneth is a mature woman. and fourth, money ain't a thang.
  15. I totaly agree. Music is overpriced. Even if artists charged $5.00 per album instead of $15-25, they'd be well off for the rest of their lives, so why do they all have to be so damn greedy? Well, it's more the labels than the artists. People are alwyas like "You're hurting the artists. You're hurting the artists." While yes, the artists get less money, the people who are really losing are the labels. From what I understand, a typical contract an artist will have with their label will give them "points" off the backend. Translation: for each "point" and artist gets, they get a percentage of the profit from the sales. Usually for an unproven band the number of points is very low (around 3, though this is negotiated). The artist only makes money after the label recoups all money from advertising, promotions, production, video costs, and otehr miscellaneous costs that went into the record. This stuff adds up quick. For example, TLC went multi-platinum with their first album but only made about $40,000 each after all expenses were paid and the label took their share. So when you say the artists are getting hurt ... that's true but it's also a red herring. The labels are the ones that are getting hurt. The corporations. They throw the artist's names out there because you can identify with the artist. You won't want to think you're taking money from your faavorite band. In truth, all of these artists make a TON more money through their live performances than from record sales. This is exactly why you don't see artists all pissed about downloading. Metallica was mad and sued. Dr. Dre was made an sued. Well, they own their own labels. That's why they were mad: they were the corporations. Rather than the corporations just saying "this downloading craze is partically our fault because we drove up the price" they've come after their own consumers.
  16. Unless Gwyneth is going to take comfort in my arms, I think she's probably fine with Chris.
  17. This post is strange. This is the person's first ever post. Did they just respond to an ongoing topic? No. They created a new thread. Is the thread something passive like "I like chris" or "My favorite song is The Scientist"? No. It's a political thread. What's more, it's a political thread that's essentially advocating, if not selling, services. I find this all very suspicious.
  18. You can only be friends with an ex if you're in a relationshpi wit another person. Otherwise, the intimacy bred by friendship will only remind you of the sanctuary of the relationship you had. So I voted no. I've been in this situation 3 times. It might be only me, but if you ever felt close to the other person intimacy will only remind you of those times.
  19. No, that would be the opposite of an open-ended question. Anything which can be answered by a "yes" or a "no" is a bad question. First, it doesn't start conversations. Second, Yes/No questions arent usually ones which seem like they're thought out. If you ask a question which will get her talking for a while (and then actually listen) you'll have exhibited a genuine interest. You'll get nice little moments where she'll say something like "I'm talking too much" and you can say "No, you're not. i like to hear stuff about you." A good open ended question asks for an explanation. Now you probably don't want to say something like "Why do you like Dashboard so much?" because that puts her on the defensive. Maybe go into this line of questioning: "So what other bands do you like?" "How long have you been listening to that kind of music?" "So what makes Dashboard stand out above all these other bands?" And if she tells you it's because Chris Carraba is so cute, run. :D If you're saying that she's not normally bashful that might be a good thing. People usually dont become bashful around others unless they feel differently towards them. At the same time, she might just be the type of person who isn't used to getting attention. Either way, one thing to keep in mind is that you want her to be comfortable around you, so don't force anything. When she thinks about you, she should only think positive things, so what you do around her should leave her feeling comfortable, safe, and attractive.
