11 evening with the same setlist... How can they enjoy doing the exact same thing and the same fake interrupts over and over?

Hi there, I totaly agree with you. With this first setlist I was a bit surprised compared to the famous "10 years of immobility" of the band, I said to myself "oh they finally decided to get out of their comfort zone" then the second show arrived... I don't understand why they ignore their legendary background, I don't understand how insignificant things like Midnight stay in the setlist. I know that for the production the set cannot change too much, but frankly this new setlist is just bad. I may be shocked to say this but for me, the Coldplay magic is on the end. Since Chris Martin is in LA, they no longer operate as a band but as a company where everyone works in their corner, where Chris Martin rehearses his world tour alone in Malibu and where the guys compose songs via facetime and 50 producers. This tour is the symbol : the totally WTF final with the puppet, these alien masks, these ridiculous dances in playback, the very close to AHFODT show... Now, the music is no the reason of the tour, it is only a means. So if the public doesn't dance on Coloratura, it goes in the trash. I remember during the X&Y tour the magical backwards outro of The Scientist : On the MOTS tour, there's no charm between all these dance songs. Chris Martin doesn't really seem to care anymore about people who listen to his music long term, he thinks more about those who listen to Coldplay on the radio sometime. I would never demand that the band play such and such a song but honestly, I feel like I'm not the target anymore. I know, Chris will said "We have nothing to prove now". Sur man, but i think you underestimate your past . To end on a positive note: I'm still happy to see that they enjoy to be reunited and working together on this tour. I'm sure they like what they do. PS : I love the band but I don't understand them now. That said, I thank them for giving us EL in 2019.

Same sentiment here, i have rediscovered the album because the Ukraine war and i think is underated compared to AHFOD or the last MOTS. Sound so more presonnal, more "band work", lyrics are far ahead of MOTS and AHFOD. This is the Coldplay that I have known for 20 years.

They use 3 stages : currentely one is in CR, 1 in Santo Domingo and 1 in mexico. So, the stage are partialy build in Santo Domingo 🙂

Look like a very close stage from AHFOD tour with a big screen in back en rounded screens on the sides (who are already close to the MX tour...).

Ok we are now in digital era but we can considering MX/GS/AHFOD and EL in digital era too. It becomes like U2: they have a hard time producing good albums but their shows are always so spectacular. However, I think they should also be proud of what they have done in the past: Parachutes / X&Y / Viva and MX are way too abandoned now. But these are masterpieces that made them what they are now.

I look the EL live in Aman now and i understand with the band flee this album. Chris is just an other man during this live compared to curent MOTS lives. Edit : Deluxe edition out now with 4 more version of My Universe... ?

Like many i'm not a fan of Max Martin work but i would really like the band to produce an album with Finneas O'Connell

I dont understand this speech which consists in saying "we have nothing more to prove, we do not care about the criticism" then bring together a cast worthy of a blockbuster to try to do something industrial. You also have to know how to question yourself sometimes. Be careful, I don't question the artistic feelings, I'm just saying that the goal is to create a good album.

They have rated EL 5/5. I love Coldplay but i quite agree with the Guardian and Pitchfork reviews. They can do better. This album will exist only across the two featuring, in 2 months it will be forgotten. I think it's time for the boys to come together and behave like a real group, that they lock themselves in a studio in the depths of UK and produce something together without necessarily surrounding themselves with thousands of people. And without looking Spotify statistics. Like what Brian Eno did for Viva right after X&Y trauma. I have the impression that for some time John, and Guy are just spares.

It goes a little like what I said above: I think that the group works a lot more remotely and the studio phases are fast because it is mostly recording. The Bakery must be more empty and the core of the team is probably reduced. It will probably be different when a tour starts, this is where the team spirit is the strongest and where the guys are certainly more accessible. We haven't had a big tour for 4 years so it just reinforces the feeling of not being very "connected" with the team anymore.

Hi guys, I'm happy to hear from the band and especially new music in this special time. I like the space theme, there is something very deep. I love Square One lyrics about this "the future is for discovery the space in which we're travelling"? But can we be critical a bit too? I find that Coldplay campaigns are almost the same since AHFOD: anonymous posters in public places, encrypted message, mysterious website, pink color everywhere and even Pilar Zeta for for the artwork ... Only GS era are different (with Mila Fürstová for the artwork). I imagine that it takes campaigns to launch all this but I find that it lacks a little freshness. Of course the album is the most important and probably the record company has a responsibility in this. But it looks like a routine and I am pessimistic, like boys work each in house and then send files by email because distance between CM in LA and the rest of the gang in UK. The ecological awareness of the group has surely made it so that they hardly see each other, and I believe a lot in the magic of working in the studio Wait and see?
