The Damon Albarn thread.
Haha! My siggy on the G-U forums is that gif - his reaction to the interviewer referring to him as a "keyboard player". Can't remember where I found it though! I love that interview. Jamie looks so fed up. And I love when he says "yeah, he was the janitor too".

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I just had to post it again. There are so many fabulous things about it: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euUXl4wW15U]YouTube- Blur At The MOJO Honours List 2009![/ame]

Overload on the hotness! He's so adorable in this! That's a really nice pic of Alex too. God, he's so beautiful. And I just love the legs apart collage. It's so damn true! He always sits like that and it makes me laugh a lot. Did you see Graham on the Frank Skinner show? They make reference to it :laugh3:

I love Saturday Come Slow. "Do you love me?" "em :wink3:" Haha! I'm glad! I was kinda worried about joining for this thread (and Gorillaz and Blur too, but mostly this one). I thought you'd all be hardcore Coldplay fans and wouldn't be too happy. Omg, that gif is adorable. Do you have a link to the actual video? I love that Jamie's in the background. I don't know why, but seeing the three of them together makes me feel warm and fuzzy :D

Thanks for that link Lizzy. I hadn't read that one before. It made me laugh a few times!

Jesus, I used to be obsessed with Robbie - till about the age of 13/14! That's a cute picture. I think Damon quite likes/liked Robbie. He's mentioned him a few times in interviews. You should definitely listen to more Gorillaz though. I don't think you'll regret it. Demon Days and Plastic Beach are just perfect albums. I love the first one too, but those two work so well as albums, if you know what I mean. I bought The Good the Bad and the Queen a couple of weeks ago and it's one of the best albums I've ever heard. The man's amazing.

So, I'm thinking of buying 'A bit of a Blur' by Alex James. Has anyone read it? Is it good?

Hey Lizzy, did you hear Damon's version of Cloud of Unknowing? God, I thought it was just beautiful. I think I may prefer it to the album.

Gorillaz thing on right now - http://www.kcrw.com/ I'm sure there's a listen again option though

The Damon Albarn thread.
Well, I grew up hearing Blur on the radio and liked some of their songs, but I didn't really understand the whole Britpop movement, to be honest. I found it quite alienating. It was kinda like when people have in-jokes, if you know what I mean. I've always liked Damon though. I've always thought he was beautiful, but I really didn't realise that the man is a genius! But I really fell in love with Gorillaz a few months ago. There are few bands that I've loved so much. I now consider myself to be a blur fan too though. I've been listening to them alot lately and my orininal idea of them was wrong. They are a fantastic band, and their music is so diverse, which is not something that can be said about most bands. That sounds hilarious! If you do come accross it again, make sure to post it here!! :wink3: Yeh Dublin is one of those cities that you either love or hate. I personally don't feel much affection for, but a lot of people love it! Hope you do like it whenever you get over! And regarding the Graham and Jamie thing - I believe they were both in a relationship with the same woman (at different times, I think), and this caused a lot of friction between them. Of course with Damon and Graham's relationship being a bit rocky, this didn't help much. (sorry for the long post!)

Oh god, don't be! It's pretty depressing over here at the minute. The weather is crap too! I really want to go to America, so I'm jealous of you. I've never been! I seem to be the only person never to have been in the USA. So did you become a Damon fan through Blur first and then Gorillaz, or the other way around?

Cool, thanks! It's a funny pic. They look like they're having a deep conversation! I'm Irish. Where are you from?

Yeh I'm so glad I joined here too. You guys are really nice and friendly. Two things: Where did that pic of Damon on the toilet come from? Between that and the bit in Bananaz, the boy really has no shame :laugh3: Also, where is the sketch Jamie did of Damon from? "Ski Jump nose" made me laugh quite a bit. But bad Jamie :whip: Damon's nose is perfect!

I know! Lucky mofo got a smooch and everything! I'm on Twitter, and I follow 'Damon Albarn', (which is a fan-run account, I think. It's not really him, anyway) and they post links to all kinds of damon-related things, and this thread was linked quite a few times. That's how I found you guys anyway. And I'm so glad I did! I hate being all fangirly, but damn it he is just an incredible man.

I love the way he blames Alex!! You can actually see that he looks over at alex as the song begins and that he's trying not to laugh. It makes it even funnier when he gives Graham that dirty look when he misses his cue to sing and then goes and messes up himself! Very funny. I really wanna know what the gif is from too. It looks really cute. Anyone ever seen this? I just came accross it, but it sounds amazing! I wish it was my story! http://www.musicsnobbery.com/2006/04/my_time_with_da.html

Yeah, they really didn't try to ingratiate themselves with the media much - well certainly not after '95 anyway. People are definitely idiots alright!

The Blur Thread
^Yeah - since when have sales figures been the measure of quality? The whole oasis vs Blur thing was ridiculous. People are such idiots. The media is always behind this kind of bullshit and people always fall for it hook, line and sinker. It sold lots of papers though, didn't it? I just find it so strange that people still get so worked up about it. Every time you look at a Blur vid on youtube there's comments comparing the two. I assume it's the same the other way around also.

Fuck off! 15 years?! I feel so old now! And dickheads on youtube are still going on about it. It really was/is ridiculous.

He's the meat in the Clash sandwich! I wanna be in a Damon/Jamie sandwich... :o:D...mmmmm. I love the Grammy story! There's another interview from an australian radio station, where he tells the story again and his comment on Bono made me laugh a lot. It was more his tone of voice, but it was very funny. He is quite rugged, isn't he? RAWR is right! I really like his choice of clothing nowadays too. I think he looks really well. The whole hippity hoppity thing doesn't really suit him. Not that I really care what he's wearing.

[quote=Lizzybear;4377896 :bigcry: his beauty makes me weep! Totally.. I love that picture of Damon and Jamie - Their tops are so similar, and the sunglasses :D. They really are like a married couple. It was probably posted here already, but have you seen the interview they did with Zane Lowe after the Coachella gig? At the end they have a little argument. It always makes me laugh.

The new photos are just great. I love the one with the russel t-shirt. This man has inspired me so much. I'm indebted to him. I started writing music because of him - something I never thought I could do before. Thank you Damon!
