Shit, I can't remember how it went, but they started with Kids with guns, then o Green world, then I THINK superfast jellyfish and then I'm not sure... could have been dirty harry. No, they didn't play Rhinestone eyes.

OOOhh! I'ma gona have to watch back for that too!! Yum-my. That was sooo good! I laughed out load loads of times. It was funny when he just gave the mic to the crowd! And then after OMH when he was trying to establish where the noise had come from. Ooh, and when he like screamed into poor Cass's face!! Brilliant and hilarious!!

Who's Damon? He's the lead singer with Blur and one half of Gorillaz (among many other things).

I'll definitely be watching - if it's not blocked over here. I think it should be ok, because the ads are playing ok for me, so I assume it'll play for me. I don't think it'll be on till about 2am over here, but I don't care. I'm watching (plus I was in bed most of the day with a migraine, so I'm all sleeped out!)

The photos - *swoon* Lizzy, have you tried here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/zanelowe/ You can listen back to last night's show. I hope you can hear it over there and that it's not blocked. It's not that far into the show. Maybe a half an hour or less.

My guess is that EMI are putting pressure on them for money. They want a mainstream hit to boost the sales of Plastic Beach. I say this because it seems strange to release a single that's not on the album. I'm guessing that if this song does well, then the Rhinestone Eyes video will be greenlighted. The animation is expensive. If EMI are as greedy as it seems, then they simply don't want to lose any money. The tour is expensive and it's not selling out quick enough and sale of the album is not massive. It's a bit of give and take - Damon figured that this song might be more likely to get more radio play and boost their profile a bit. I really don't think this is greed. Damon and Jamie have demonstrated time and time again that they are not in this for the money. They believe in what they are doing, and they want to get their music and artwork out there. Unfortunately they're tied to a corporation which has money and money only on its mind. I think it's just a compromise. I mean the song is not a bad song at all -it's just more radio-friendly. That's just my opinion on the turn that this has taken. I also think that the release of the Rhinestone Eyes storyboard may have been an attempt on Jamie and Damon's behalf to put a bit of pressure on EMI - If the fans want it, then it's more likely to go ahead. I could be totally wrong though :D

Oh my god Lizzy. I've been avoiding the GU, so I haven't seen the comments, but they've really hit a new low. That's it, I'm absolutely sick of the place. They're a bunch of whingey whiney kids. I'm really annoyed. I'd really hate to think of Damon and Jamie seeing the comments and taking them to heart. I'd hate for them to think that that's the only Gorillaz fanbase. I think a lot of people would avoid signing up if they'd been lurking for a while - you start to get a picture of the place pretty quickly. I mean, you don't have to like every single song that a band makes. It would be crazy to expect you to. This song is very mainstream, I do agree. It's certainly not the best Gorillaz song by any means, but it's fun and catchy and it grows on you. There is absolutely no reason for that kind of abuse and anger. Seriously. Anger management mightn't be a bad idea... Sorry for the rant, but those comments REALLY pissed me off. Plus: Doncamatic isn't a million miles away from DARE. It's not like this came totally out of the blue. It's in the same ballpark, and yet nobody seems to mind that one.

Aw, I'm sure they didn't do it to be mean. I read recently enough that Damon criticised Jarvis for the stunt he pulled on MJ in the 90s. Plus, Gorillaz paid tribute to him in the Clint Eastwood video, so I really doubt he would have been making fun of him.

Haha! I think he might have said that! It's good isn't it?! I think he genuinely threw the shoe and felt bad! It doesn't seem like he was trying to be abusive though -just drunk and a bit stupid. It's quite sweet and funny! Edit: Help! How do I reply to notes on Tumblr? I can't find a reply button anywhere!

I am so slow, but I've just realised that that's a cartoon Damon (and the rest of the band) in the rhinestone eyes storyboard! That is beyond cool!! I sound really dumb, but I can't properly figure out which side they're on- the boogieman or Murdoc's. I know they're leading up to a potential battle of the live versus the fictional band, but I don't like the idea of Damon trying to kill 2D though :( :D

It really is! It's a very moving book. He was a bit of a dickhead, but I found myself being unable to dislike him for it! I loved his story about Damon and the aeroplane - where at first he refused point blank to get on a plane with one of them flying it, and then after the gig, changing his mind when he realised just how convenient it was :laugh3:. He was downing the vodka! And then all the turbulance. It made for very funny reading. I felt really sorry for him though! YAAAY! Pictures!!

yay! Thank you! Crap, I can't find it. I found a link but when I clicked on it it said it had been removed by the user. It was from around the mid-90s in Japan. It's not very long. It doesn't seem to be on Blurcast either  Edit: Forgive me if this has been posted before. It probably has, but it still makes me laugh!
