  1. I will sorely miss the Viva Era. I loved the clothes, the theme, the album, and the ep. All of it was epic. It's the first era I was able to see them live. I became a fan mid X&Y era. I was 13 or 14 then and didn't start going to concerts until I could drive myself. It was also the era that turned me into a complete fangirl where I used to be a casual fan. I think seeing them live helped with that. So far I'm not liking MX era as much as Viva Era, but I should probably give it more of a chance before I judge.
  2. I'm on my fourth full listen through of the album. It's a good, solid album, but I'm not in love with it even on the 4th listen. This is kind of wierd for me. I fell immediately in love with Viva the first time I listened to it, same with Rush and Parachutes. X&Y took me a tiny bit longer to appreciate, but not that long. Just a few listens (I became a fan during X&Y era btw). It's a lukewarm reception for me. Maybe it had to deal with the promotional roll-out for this album? I exhaustively listened to all the singles and summer live performances becuase I was so excited. I think that excitement has worn off by now. I knew almost exactly what the album would sound like before I even got it. Also, I think the thing that kills my favorite songs from over the summer is the production. I don't mind production, Viva had plenty of production on it, but in a way that worked with the music. The production on Mylo Xyloto just kind of suffocates the songs. I can hear the beauty of the original "stripped down" songs such as Us Against the World and Charlie Brown that were part of the original "stripped down" album and I just want to tear off the production and have that raw sound that they originally had. I feel they would be stronger songs that way, although their studio counterparts aren't terrible by any means. I like some fine parts Charlie Brown, such as the piano outro, that get to be shown in their full glory on the album. I am not a fan of the voice affects on Hurts like Heaven. It was such a good song live, and it just completely lost it's power in the studio. Another song I have issues with are Up in Flames. I'm really just not a fan. I don't see the beauty in it whatsoever. I don't like the drum beat and Up in Flames is repeated one too many times. On to the positive. Princess of China wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I still don't enjoy it on the album. I would have much rather had Moving to Mars. I just don't like featuring artists on my Coldplay albums. I feel that it should have been a b-side or one of Chris's other side projects with the Hip-Hop and R&B artists he is so obsessed with. I really like A Hopeful Transmission, DLIBYH, and Up With the Birds. They all flow extremely well together and make a strong close to the album. Overall I guess I would give the album a 7/10. I gave it an 8 in the poll when I was listening for the first time, but I was over-excited. I need to listen to it many many times to see how much I will actually like it in the scheme of things. Right now I would rank the albums as follows: A Rush Of Blood to the Head Viva La Vida Parachutes Mylo Xyloto X&Y
  3. Finally just finished downloading. I got my e-mail at 12:30 or so, but I was at school. And then I went to buy the CD at target and listened to that first. :smug:
  4. There was one left when I went to buy the album. I didn't get it since the shirt only comes in a large. I'm tiny. I usually wear a small or extra small. It would swamp me. :\
  5. I did the same thing :D I said, "Fuck it, I'm going to buy the album today. I already spent $98.00 on the Pop-Up, what's $10.00 compared to that?" I ran to Target as soon as class was over and I didn't feel too terrible about it because I got it for only $9.00 with tax because it was on sale. :P I proceeded to listen in happiness on the ride home. I then promptly downloaded my Mp3 that i FINALLY recieved from MerchDirect when I got home.
  6. Guys! Finally got my download link!
  7. 11 a.m has come and gone and still no email. You such MerchDirect!
  8. Oh good point! I do want something more than a little pouch attached to my vinyl. I'm thinking I'm going out to buy the CD today
  9. Yeah 9 a.m. here and nothing as well. According to people earlier in this thread we are supposed to get it at 11 a.m.? I will check again to see if I have it around 2 pm when I get out of class.
  10. I'll ask them if I don't have it when I get out of class. I'm glad to see that they will answer those emails promptly.
  11. I still haven't received a download link. :( I checked my Spam folder as well. I was expecting to have it by the time I woke up . If it isn't there by the time I get out of class I'm going to the store to buy a copy. This is rediculous.
  12. Yeah mine is like the last version of Leopard 10.5.8 right before they did Snow Leopard. I just never upgraded to Snow Leopard. It wasn't a problem until they came out with Lion. :P I want to upgrade to Lion, but I need to go to the Apple store and see how to do that without having to go through the intermediary Snow Leopard upgrade.
  13. I figured it out. My operating system is Leopard. I need snow leopard or Lion to veiw. :/
  14. When I click on the link it says "Available Soon" on Apple's webpage.
  15. Yeah I'm going to go to bed too. Hopefully it will be in my inbox when I wake up.
  16. I know. :( I'm very dissappointed in you MerchDirect. No email and it's not in my Downloads on MerchDirect either!!! WTF??!!!
  17. I know, right? We should have got it either early or right on time since we paid the big bucks!
  18. LOL! I feel exactly the same. I'm instant messaging my friend who is also a huge Coldplay fan and I said, "Good God I want my freaking digital copy of MX right now! WTF?!!!"
  19. Me too. And then I will get up at like 6 or 7 and download then.
  20. Only 40 minutes left till midnight here. U.S. Central time btw.
  21. Yeah I haven't recieved anything yet, either. It's only 5:44 here, so I have a while to go.
  22. It makes me sick that this is happening again. :( I can't deny that the Vietmanese song's hook sounds the same as Princess of China. I don't think it was an intentional thing, though. They are giving credit where it's due right and left and right for this album. I don't think this would have been an exception if they had actually sampled this lady's song. I feel really bad for the band. They are trying so hard not to have a repeat of the Satriani bullshit that went down over "Viva" and then this comes along.
  23. I'm hoping for midnight excactly! :P I can't wait much longer! I refused to download the leak. I have snuck in a couple of the iTunes stream of the day songs, though. I listened to "Princess of China" and "Don't Let it Break Your Heart".
  24. I don't think it's through iTunes. I think it's through the MerchDirect website on which we purchased the Pop-Up edition. They're supposed to send us an e-mail with a link to the download. Also, if you look under your account on their website there is a "Downloads" section that it also may pop up under.
