JC90, love your response. I actually like when Chris says he likes EDM, not dislike it. I don't think you can generalize that into an audience, maybe on here a lot of people like the old styles of Coldplay but obviously there are a lot of people who want them to keep evolving the way they are too! No, Chris did not suddenly dislike any of those artists. My prediction is that they will keep the same emotional and acoustic style of songwriting on LP8, but will take a turn with he production. As seen on the AFHOD tour, they strive to make their shows to be as lively as possible (with the help of an EDM remix of Paradise I believe), but will always have a stripped back acoustic part of the show as well. Chris Martin and the band tend to follow the way music is going, not sure what the motivation is (maybe to stay popular in the charts, maybe just because they truly love the modern production being used). They never want to repeat themselves and are always looking for a new and innovative sound. I think by judging where Chris's head is at, and since the band is getting older every era, it is inevitable that Coldplay come out with an album more influenced by EDM production. And I am not ruling out any Hip-Hop or Pop collaborations. Mark my words...

Guys... I bet it will be more electronic and dance based. I think it's pretty obvious... Chris has said numerous times in interviews that he loves EDM and when good electronic production meets emotional songwriting he becomes very happy. I can almost guarantee that Coldplay will be heading this way with the overall sound of LP8, with even rich synths and more modern unconventional instruments that are made with the help of a DAW. Thoughts?

This is a question I have always wondered. I am curious to know because I also cannot read music and have successfully written songs, but am wondering if knowing how to read music and names of chords would be helpful to write and/;or translate a song from the piano to the guitar. Here are videos of Chris descibing the songwriting process - around the 5 minute mark Both describe Chris as not knowing what he is doing when he is writing and just randmoly trying things, does anybody have an opinion on what he really knows? Any music theory, such as chords, or really nothing? Any knowledge/opinion is really appreciated and will give me confidence in my own songwriting process! thanks

This is what I came up with. Its in us against the world tuning. EADF#BE with capo on 3rd fret. The verses go as follows: 0.10.9.8.0.0. then to 13.15.15.0.0.0. for two times then 8.10.10.8.0.0. Every other time Chris throws in a 12.15.14.0.0.0. chord instead of the 13.15.15.0.0.0. The first part of the chorus goes as follows: 13.15.15.0.0.0. then to 0.5.5.0.0.0. then to 5.7.7.6.0.0.0. and 5.7.7.5.0.0.0. The second part of the chorus goes as follows: 13.15.15.0.0.0. then to 5.7.7.6.0.0. then to 8.10.10.8.0.0. and back to 13.15.15.0.0.0. for two times then 5.7.7.6.0.0. then back to 13.15.15.0.0.0. for two times to finish off. Hello to the best people in the world (coldplayers). I am 19 year old artist and wanted to share with you a new song that my friend and I made. The beat itself is largely influenced by Coldplay. The piano, chords, guitar riff, and structure is very similar of something Coldplay would do in my opinion so I think you may like it. It is like a mixture of Coldplay and Hip-Hop. Yeah it does sound pretty similar to lit but if i actually try and make a band and use this song i don't think it would cause much controversy. Do you think I should try and get a band together in a few years when I have the time? If it is good enough then i will but I don't want to be like most bands who never become successful
