  1. ^ I know, I keep expecting to hear 'Jonny-boy! Yeaaaaaahhhhhhhh!' just before his solo kicks in :laugh4:
  2. I just realized that I haven't been paying attention to Guy's bass :uhoh: Just so everyone knows . . . it is awesome
  3. ^ THIS. Although I have to admit that even thought I'm not a fan (yet) of the vocal distortion, I think it fits in the paranoia-context of the song. Moving to Mars seems as if it could be anything at this point in time, a love ballad or a hard-rock song like Major Minus or Violet Hill. If it's a love ballad, they better stay the heck away from distortion.
  4. Okay. Those dumb distorted vocals are growing on me :freak: :P When I listen to it, I almost think it's a Muse song . . .
  5. THIS. I know what the guys were going for with the vocal distortion (I'm actually starting to like it) but I'd like to hear a studio version without it.
  6. Eh . . . the live version is definitely a 10/10 no question. Could've been my all-time favorite song. The studio version does too things wrong: it distorts Chris's voice and it takes away the echoes that were so awesome in the live versions. I give it a 7.5/10. All in all, both versions considered, I give it an 8/10 EDIT: Although I have to admit that the vocals are slowly growing on me :uneasy:
  7. Live. The live version is much more pure, and Jonny has some flippin' awesome echoes going on. The guys need to get Brian Eno away from all his little toys in the studio version--Chris's voice does not need improved in any way, shape, or form. It's perfect when it's pure.
  8. ^^ No surprises there  EDIT: Once again, nice post, Rainy Day :nice:
  9. So . . . I've been going back and forth for the past few minutes (you guys can probably tell :P ) When I heard the live version I was like 'Yes! THIS is a song that finally may out A Rush Of Blood To The Head as my favorite song. THIS is why I love Coldplay, because THIS SONG is made of everything epic.' It got me so excited for the album, and I've played the Rock am Ring version easily a hundred times on my iPod because it is just. So. Awesome. But now . . . it definitely won't be taking top honors over ARoBttH, it may not even make it onto my Favorites playlist in iTunes. Nice song, guys, I'll listen to it probably more times than necessary, I'm glad that you're experimenting with your sound and all that, but please limit it to your SOUND, not vocals. Your vocals are too stunning to be jerked around with.
  10. To add to that paranoia vibe of Major Minus . . . I think the lyrics just before Jonny starts his solo are 'I hear them climbing the steps / I got my right side fighting while my left hides under the chairs' If that doesn't spell paranoia then I don't know what does :P
  11. Jeez. Forum is so slow . . . That's a good point, Rainy Day--I think you just made me like the song more :P I'm fine with the distortion . . . as long as they don't use it on every song on LP5 :uhoh: Chris's voice is too beautiful to be messed with, and it's one of the reasons why I love Coldplay so much. To me, distortion just drowns out the emotion that Chris and the others are putting into it.
  12. I like it . . . . but it sounds really weird. They should NEVER mess with Chris's voice EVER. End of story. But I do like the duet with Will and towards the end there's this cool synth-scream thing. The 'crocodiles' part sounds better live, and Jonny's echoes were flippin' epic at Rock am Ring. So eh, cool song, but I think it's better live

  14. I just realized they left off Jonny's echo at the end. NNOOOOO THAT PART WAS SO AMAZING! :bigcry:

  17. Whoa. That was NOT what I expected. . . . . but that was AWESOME.
