  1. ^ Yesyes a million times yes Those songs are basically the only post-Viva songs I listen to ever (plus DLIBYH). I really liked Miracles when it came out, but I think it was just (as others have said) because I was missing that "big arena" sound that was prevalent on ARoBttH, X&Y, Viva, etc. I still like the outro, Guy's basswork, and like one line of lyrics, but the rest of it just seems kind of meh. Still a good pump-up song that I listen to on runs, but not as good at their other two standalone singles. An album full of Miracles could be interesting, but only if a few production choices are changed. I wouldn't be surprised if a Miracles-like song wound up as the big hit off this album, at least.
  2. ^ I hadn't heard that before. As I understood it though, Chris seemed to be the main driving force behind GS so it wouldn't surprise me if the rest of the guys felt a little dissatisfied about it looking back. It did seem to me that they weren't all "there" for the songs, if that makes any sense? Like they could have just plopped three random musicians down with Chris and wound up with the same song? I don't want any lyrics reminding me of anything off the last two albums  . . . Except maybe All Your Friends. And Ghost Story. And Midnight.
  3. ^ 14 actual songs, not 14 songs, three of which are instrumental transitions and one of which is only like 2 minutes long like we had with MX :P I've also never really understood their ~42 minute rule. I understand not wanting to have a super long album, but 42 minutes seems a little short? With Viva it was perfect, but with MX and GS it was somewhat underwhelming. Plus, it leaves little room for 5min+ songs, which I really like. I'm hoping AHFoD either 1) Sticks to the ~9 track rule, but with some of the songs nice long ones like The Scientist or ARoBttH 2) Sticks to the ~42 minute rule, but shoves in some hidden tracks that bumps the length up like they did with Viva
  4. I don't know if this is along the lines of what you were talking about, but a pseudo-classical song would be pretty cool
  5. The only album drops I've been around for are my two least-favorite Coldplay albums, so please let this happen!
  6. Oooh :surprised: Do we have release dates for those other albums? Might give us a good timeframe
  7. Interesting. It doesn't really tell us anything we don't know already as most of us already have the album pinned as dropping in November (just going by the poll) It would be cool if the majority of us were actually right this time about the timeframe though :P
  8. I think Strawberry Swing-type songs are the best thing we can hope for at this point . . . which is totally fine because Strawberry Swing is excellent :P But as we get more and more "news" I'm feeling like I will like this album less and less. I didn't care for MX or GS and it makes me sad that AHFoD might join them But! I will wait to pass that judgement until I hear the album. It's not fair for me to already start labeling it as something I won't like
  9. I'm pretty sure I've done this, like, three times but oh well :P 1. Viva :dazzled: 2. ARoBttH 3. X&Y 4. Parachutes 5. Ghost Stories 6. Mylo Xyloto Really, GS and MX could be switched . . . not really a fan of either one
  10. ^ I believe Guy takes the lead vocals on "Sequential" Granted, they did some tweaking with a vocoder or something, but you can still tell he has a very good singing voice. I'm all for each of the guys getting one track where they take lead vocals. There are no bad singers in Coldplay :P [video=youtube;zgiSYs3MPAM]
  11. ^ Honestly I'm not really a fan of True Love :uhoh: The "lie to me" line is good, but the rest of the lyrics and the overall sound is just kind of meh?
  12. heck yes continent bros
  13. ^ Ooh, happy early birthday  And have fun driving . . . it's really nothing special :P
  14. About to go volunteer at a robotics camp :P You?
  15. At this point I've given up on all speculation as to what AHFoD is going to sound like. I just want to see the artwork :P
  16. omg Mark and Taameen and Julia IT'S ALMOST THE ENTIRE OLD GANG LET ME LOVE YOU :vuvuzela:
  17. Erm . . . Simple but beautiful? An initial melancholy feel that you realize is actually hopeful as you listen to the lyrics? I didn't know this was going to be on the test :bigcry:
  18. ^ I'm feeling a November release as well. That gives the band another month or so to release a single, which seems to be about the right timeframe. Unless they've scrapped part of it like they did back with X&Y  (and the supposed acoustic album that was supposed to be MX *cries forever*)
  19. Something similar to what postcards said . . . loud and heavy, with lyrics to back it up. A la Violet Hill, Politik, GPASUYF, Twisted Logic, etc. Or something dark and melancholy, like ARoBttH (song) or Cemeteries of London Probably won't happen, especially since this is supposed to be a "happy" album, but a girl can hope :disappointed:
  20. ^ I've never heard them mentioned before. THEY SOUND COOL THOUGH
  21. It also seems odd that Chris would take off for India if the album wasn't mostly finished, but that's just my thinking
  22. I'm torn on what I think the AHFoD artwork will look like. On one hand, Chris has said that these two albums are related--with AHFoD being the day to Ghost Stories' night--which makes me think they will keep some things similar (style, wing image, color palette, etc.). On the other hand, no two Coldplay albums have ever had artwork that was even remotely similar to another--other than the fact that they seem to favor central images on monochromatic backgrounds. To add to that, Coldplay's album artwork usually isn't "literal." E.g. Parachutes doesn't have a parachute on the cover. ARoBttH is probably the most "literal" cover (except for maybe Viva since it depicts the struggle between life and death?) So I'm thinking three choices for the cover art: 1. Something stylistically similar to Ghost Stories 2. Something which makes sense to pair with the title (e.g. a colorfully exploding head, although this seems unlikely as it would be really similar to ARoBttH) 3. Something that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the title, like Parachutes' spinning globe cover
  23. ^ Agreed about AHFoD going one of two ways. I'm hoping they go the second way also--I could see them doing a dark/bizarre vibe for first half of the album and then transitioning to a happier/lighter tone for the second half since they seem fond of doing concept albums lately. If they go the route of #1, this might sadly wind up being my least-favorite album :disappointed: Also I've just had a tinfoil hat-ish theory thought:
