LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
^ I like this/Jonny and the cake's theory. Why else would Anchorman intentionally be so evil if it weren't to tease us :P And if we hold with that pattern of a song getting posted every 2 weeks, we get Magic on Aug 31 and then the next song would bring us right up to the September gig, perfect time to drop the single

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
As 42Escapist said, I think the forum is going to break no matter what  At this point, I've shifted my focus to the September gigs, and I think that's probably when we'll get a single. If anything happens before then, it's just a bonus! :nice:

Almost 7 am here in the American Central Time Zone! Looks like maybe no single today but considering we still haven't heard anything I'm not too disappointed

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I nearly got an entire EP on my birthday back when Prospekt's March dropped  I'm still holding out hope for some sort of news/release tomorrow. Coldplay never seems to do the things the same way twice, and they've never done an out-of-the-blue drop before, so why not? If I remember correctly, the first hints of a new album for the MX and GS eras were: 1) The running man video (along with a 30 sec sound clip from M.M.I.X./ETiaW, although the sound was just the background synths I believe) 2) GIF from the Midnight music video I assume with Viva we found out via Prospekt (or maybe that video with Chris signing "viva la vida" with his hands?), although I wasn't around then so I can't be sure :P

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
To put this (sort of) back on topic: If the bright, colorful, and happy themes of AHFoD turn out to be true, I think we'll get some videos in the vein of ETiaW, Speed of Sound, and Lovers in Japan. Lots of bright colors and energy. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a video that started as black and white, and then gradually became more colorful as the song progresses into a full-band jam-out. If I were REALLY optimistic, I would hold out for a run of Strawberry Swing-like videos, but that's probably not going to happen

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
And Clocks! I think Clocks might be the most notable example, since the guys literally rush-recorded it in a week or two and shoved out Animals to give it a spot  I thought Lovers in Japan was one of the leaked Viva demos? Unless you mean they originally weren't going to have it on the album and changed their minds at the last minute

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Yes! I'm fine with the band just standing around and playing, but only if they make it interesting like the ETiaW video Same . . . I would be fine with getting fewer songs if those songs were on the long side and had a lot of lyrics, but with the past few albums we've been getting fewer songs that are also shorter and have fewer lyrics. Kind of disappointing

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Hmm, that's actually kind of compelling. I've been saying that I think we'll get the single (or at least news of some sort) on the 17th, but if that's really what his "like" means and that was back in May . . . Getting something before the end of the month is seeming more likely :nice:

Oooh thanks :surprised:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Sooo . . . how long does the mixing process last? Is it a thing of the guys recording a song and then immediately turning around and mixing/completing it? Or are all the songs recorded and then mixed at the end one after another? Or do we know :P

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
*chants* Monday! Monday! Monday! For approximately one month every couple of years leading up to a Coldplay album announcement, I actually look forward to Mondays. I'm not sure this post from Rik means we'll actually get something this time, but I might as well give myself a reason to wake up early for the first day of class :awesome:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
^ Yes! Cemeteries of London is such an underrated song. I would love if they followed the song's lyrical style also by telling a story of sorts. Coldplay needs to do a song like Hotel California or Bohemian Rhapsody :charming:

I remember those days, especially the day PoC leaked--the forum was so overwhelmed I couldn't get it to load at all

B-Sides - Animals, The Goldrush, Murder, I Bloom Blaum, One I Love

^^^ Although I still think Chris is an awesome singer, I feel like his falsetto isn't as "pure" as it once was, which only makes sense as he is getting older, nothing he can do. Songs like Shiver and Fix You that use a lot of falsetto just don't sound quite as sharp anymore. I really hope that Chris tries to counter this by using his lower register, as I believe that's one aspect of his voice that's actually gotten better through the years--take Murder vs. Yes, for example. Plus, it would give us something fresh, as there really aren't that many songs in which Chris uses his lower registers (I can think of Yes, Murder, Moving to Mars, maybe Violet Hill, a few places in ARoBttH, and that's about it). EDIT: because a couple people ninja'd me before I could post :P

I wouldn't mind a piano-driven acoustic song. We haven't had one of those in awhile (except for maybe O), whereas we've gotten a couple of acoustic guitar ones on the last two albums. And while we're at it, I would love love love another piano-driven song that's more on the rock side of things, like Clocks.

I love the pre-album drop stage  BUT ALSO I HATE IT

Sunday night is always Hype Night just before an album release and I love it :P

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I remember waking up, rolling over and opening Facebook on my phone, and screaming "WHAT!?" Same thing happened with Midnight, although that happened in the middle of a crowded lunchroom as I was headed to art class  I don't know if I like surprise drops more than hyped-up/hinted-at drops. Both are pretty fun. I suppose since we got the surprise drops for Ghost Stories, I'm ready for more hyping (although the way things are going, it's questionable as to whether things are going to happen like that).

Those were the exact two things I was thinking of :P

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Interesting thought! To keep with that theme, maybe the last track will be called something like "Knots," to symbolize that tying together of things. I'm convinced we'll get a song with "Lights" in the title, as that seems to jive with what we know of the album's themes. Northern Lights, The Light at the End, etc. Warning: Dream tracklisting with artsy titles to follow: 1) Color and Dawn (instrumental intro, like LiT; also satisfies the "color title" requirement maybe?) 2) Circumnavigation (about traveling the world to find yourself) 3) Heartstrings (lead single) 4) Tales of the Night (dark times) 5) Northern Lights (finding light in the dark) 6) Summer Days (the album's big single) 7) Castaway (fits with the "three songs starting with the same letter" tradition) 8) A Head Full of Dreams 9) Knots (tying together of both the album and Coldplay's musical career)

Same! Their original font was really classy and smooth and I wasn't a fan of their MX font at all. It will probably wind up being similar (if not the same as) Ghost Stories. As for the logo, I'm not sure. Maybe whatever the opposite of wings are with a backdrop over mountains since that's the opposite of the sea? EDIT: Aaay, 9,000th post

First Single Predictions!
^ That would be awesome, although I remember people (myself included) being disappointed that Major Minus was on the album after being included in the EP. Perhaps if they do that again they can clarify that it's two album songs and a b-side, just so we don't feel cheated?
